u/Coraline1599 Jul 17 '26
Bad news, he just won his primary a few weeks ago. He will be up against a Republican in November in a very democratic district. I doubt he is going anywhere.

Hey guys, y'all remember when The Workers and The People held corrupt officials and greedy capitalists accountable in the streets to bring actual change?
Let's totally not do that like never-ever again. Voting absolutely soooo helps. Please do your part đĽşđ

Not really no. Not in this country anyway
4
u/Moist-Weakness-3399 Jul 17 '26
Read a history book then. The military has been mobilized against workers many times in the past, you just don't know your history.
6
u/ChocoPablobar Jul 17 '26
...and how exactly is that the workers holding corrupt officials and greedy capitalists accountable? You're referring to when the corrupt officials violently suppressed the workers on behalf of the greedy capitalists. And got away with it

u/CamusMadeFantastical Jul 17 '26
Participation in local and primary elections are abysmal, that is why voting doesn't seem effective. I also love the idea that people can't seem to bother to show up to vote outside of every four years but somehow they will take to the streets. (guess which one is more dangerous and harder?)
3
u/ReturnOfBane Jul 17 '26
Hey guys, y'all remember when The Workers and The People held corrupt officials and greedy capitalists accountable in the streets to bring actual change?
Democrats helped the republicans put a stop to that in the 40s. Can't let the people squeeze the balls of big buisiness!

u/truth-informant Jul 17 '26
"Won." Both contenders withdrew.Â
2
u/superhancpetram Jul 18 '26
There was no box to check with his name on it. There wasnât even a line on the ballot to write in someone against him. It was like the race didnât exist because it was already decided.

Tell that to the progressives that did not run a candidate against Jeffries in the primary a few weeks agoâŚ.

u/Sad_Significance_568 Jul 17 '26
He is popular in his district and second to only AOC when it comes to fundraising money. Probably would see 5x or more than they have spent on Stevens on Jefferies and it's just not worth going up against that.
Anyways, it is way more humiliating to watch him squirm and then not be voted as house leader.

Wish Democrats cared about the fascism taking hold in their own country as much as they care for the survival of one of the most efficient and advanced military powers in the world unmatched by any of their adversaries
20
u/lastquincy88 Jul 17 '26
Sadly history has shown that liberals will side with fascists time after time. Liberals are afraid of the true left because capitalism is baked into their platform. Fascism is capitalism in decay.
2
u/00eg0 Jul 17 '26
Don't worry most people never vote in primaries and GOP gerrymandering means they currently have and will continue to have all 3 branches of the federal government. In a one party state there's no reason to complain about the democrats.
2
u/ScratchyMarston18 Jul 18 '26
Which military would that be? The US hasnât won a war since 1945 (with help.)
Have we killed a lot of people with bombs and fancy weapons? Sure. Unmatched by adversaries? We sent a huge chunk of an entire generation to die horrifically in a jungle for over a decade and got our asses handed to us by farmers. So much for unmatched.

1
u/omer8734 Jul 18 '26
Go look it up on google, no public transport is free anywhere in Israel (bus, trains, light rail all cost money)
Israel doesnât have public housing for a few decades already.1
u/Pure-Stay3596 Jul 18 '26
"...way to travel the country. It is highly reliable, with popular urban routes running every 10 to 20 minutes. Fares usually start at around $2.25 (8 ILS) and include free transfers within 90 minutes..." Maybe because i was there during the time of war but brother it's so f cheap, and bro I was at a public house 2 years ago. The post is clearly given a look of they don't look at people needs. Which is such BS.
1
u/omer8734 Jul 18 '26
Itâs anything but reliable with works every week closing the rails, and very limited hours and no weekends. While 8 ILS is 2.65$ itâs not so cheap for Israelis because the salaries arenât comparable to the US.
Anyways the point youâre making that Israelis get free public transportation is plain wrong and misleading

2
u/Capital-Curve4515 Jul 17 '26
In reality, I believe most of the money only goes under the condition that is spent with U.S. defense companies. So in reality, this money is not foreign aid, but a subsidy which stays within the United States. Arguably this may be even worse, but it makes more sense in terms of all the pressures that these lobbyists would be putting on Congress to keep their defense spending high.

u/AmItheonlySaneperson Jul 17 '26
theyll say no, tax you more, then print more money anyway and send it to israel and corporations
1
u/alejocs Jul 17 '26
more fake can be
Most of that money flows right back to the US because it's actually required by law.
Under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program, Israel has to spend almost 100% of that cash (by 2028) on US-made weapons from American defense giants like Lockheed, Boeing, and RTX.
That alone supports over 20,000 US jobs. So it's a revolving doorâa circular subsidy. Congress writes the check, Israel buys American gear, and the money just circles back into the US economy.
Sources: US State Dept and the Congressional Research Service (CRS).

Defense contractors like money. when we sell weapons to Israel they make money, when we give weapons to Israel they make money itâs just a different person paying them.
Same for military aid to Ukraine, itâs basically a giant jobs program because the military industrial complex employs a lot of Americans.
3
u/bigbjarne Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 18 '26
And it's not just profits for the owning class who owns the military industrial complex. Israel, Palestine, Iran, Ukraine etc. have a lot of labor and markets that the American owning class want access to.
