Democrats are collectively pretty liberal which is technically center-left at best. So they are actually doing exactly what the name entails. Democrats have time and time again shown as much loyalty to the billionaire class as Republicans have. They are Democrats doing Democrat things.

Pre neoliberal yes but the center has shifted right over time (Overton window ) as republicans have forced compromises while they shifted far right and democrats said sure boss and shifted right in response. Our representative democrats are basically where republicans were what 50 yrs ago? 25? The people? Prob more liberal if they didn’t get caught up in labels

Ask a European they have the full width of the political spectrum and have been telling us for years

That’s kinda what I’m saying tho.

Edit: But I understand the distinction you’re making and you right. Liberal wasn’t the right word to use. Point is that today’s Democrats are mostly right-leaning, in broader political terms.

Left starts at opposition to capitalism. At best there is about a half dozen DSA types in Congress and they're all also pro capitalism but with some reforms. Neither of our parties are pro worker in any sense. They're all completely tied to authoritarian capitalism in the workplace and one of them wants authoritarianism in our government.
