Correct Me! Streak 1: Not my first streak

Hey guys, hope you all doing well.

Not my first time here, I have already tried to make write streak sometimes, but I think I did never make more than 5 streaks consistently. Let’s say it make more than two years that I know the existence of this subreddit, but i have never take the attitude to come here and practice my English, which I really need.

I have the habit of reading in English so much, which makes my reading really well, lets say that in one page of a book in English, which has nearly 300 words (no idea), I can understand all the context but with 10-15 words that I wouldn’t know describe.

Here I hope practicing English and become a good speaker.

Thank you for reading

Correct Me! Streak 15: Strength training

Strength training is so beneficial for our body. It supports our sleeps and strengthens our body against cardiovascular diseases. According to WHO all muscles groups should be trained at least two times in a week. But training regularly is the most important.

I recently subscribed one year to the NY times newspaper. There are ways to read their content for free but the yearly subscription costed me 10 USD for the whole year. Plus I have access to their app which is fantastic.

The games are also great, I’m solving puzzles every day such as PIP. Or more letter puzzles such the spelling bee, Wordle or crosswords.

I have a hunch it was a good purchase. It’s quite easy to find articles interesting to you. Plus there is audio for every article and you end up getting exposed to top quality English written by top experts , plus becoming a more cultivated person.

Correct Me! Streak 1: Bedtime thoughts

My baby is sick in the last several days. Now I can hear his noisy breathing while he’s sleeping. He’s just struggling to breathe. This makes me angry because he’s so little to have that kind of difficulty. I’m definitely angry at the god for creating babies so vulnerable. It’s not fair.

Correct Me! Streak 1 : my first time

Hi is my first time here so I'll write a brief introduction about me:

Hi everyone my name is Mortada I'm from Iraq I'm 22 years old, I'm studying nursing right now in my 4th year so by the end of 2027 I'll be graduating.

i have studying English since i was in school almost 8 to 10 years I'm not sure, but i started studying seriously in my first year in college (i starte with no knowledge about English just some basic words and grammar), so when i started my English journey of studying English i feel in love with the languages in general so i started to try some of them like, Spanish, Chinese, German, hindi, Russian and ancient Latin

currently i can speak a good level in English and Spanish, and less with Russian,Chinese andancientLatin (I'm native Arabic btw).

i don't want this article to be long i have so much to say but i still haven't enough words 🥲, i hope to make friends too if possible 😅 I'm really friendly person i think

The rain was super heavy tonight. After work, I walked from the office to the MRT station, and by the time I got there, my feet were soaked. I just realized that so many songs about Taipei mention the weather here: the nonstop rain.

Correct Me! Streak 722: Feeling awkward in stores

Leaving a store without buying anything and going back to one that I recently went to feels awkward. There’s nothing inherently wrong with those things, and I think having more customers in your store is better as long as it’s not too busy, but I can’t help feeling that way.

Lately, I've been reading a couple of books at the same time: one in the morning, which falls into non-fiction when I feel more active to get engrossed with the content, but also interested in reading it; and the other two in the evening/late night: both are fiction but in different languages, one in my mother tongue and the other is in English.

The one I've been reading in my native language is called Factory by a Japanese author. this books plunges yourself into a world that revolves around a factory, a place that seems many people want to work in. This work does not have a main character, but about 3 (well, considering the point of views I've read so far), providing different perspectives about the experience that each character goes through.

Correct Me! Streak 64: The First Day of the Semester

The fall semester began today. Regardless of how many semesters I’ve taken, this moment is always exciting. I will learn new things, join a new club, and meet new friends. I’ll come to discover my capabilities and limits anew.

Some time ago, my mom bought herself a new sewing machine. She was planning a bigger project and wanted something with a little more power. Her old one is doing absolutely fine though, so she gave it to me. I enjoy sewing from time to time and since I moved, I didn't have easy access to a sewing machine (I used hers before). Now, I have my own one. Time to plan a new project!

Correct Me! Streak 2: Journaling or keeping a diary?

What's the difference between journaling and keeping a diary? I read that journaling is more about deeper or more conceptual questions you don't have an answer to. Actually, it sounds like you might even not be looking for an answer. You're just sharing your thoughts process out loud. I can easily imagine these thoughts would follow the "what if...?" pattern.

Keeping a diary would be more about reporting facts and emotions, and that's it. You free your mind by writing down, but you don't especially enjoy the process.

Correct Me! Streak 11: Hardworking

At the job, I am working so hard. I start at 8.00 o'clock than finish 18.00. After the job usually I am tired and surfing on the Internet. I don't want to do anything but I have to. I should have hobbies and join social events, bu unfortunately I can't join them. My eyes were burning looking to the screen. I go to the gym, after then go back to the house and this circle continue.

Correct Me! Streak 103: Korean Listening Practice

Article: Korean Listening Practice — Strategies, Experience, and Audio Training

Since my goal is to be able to watch K-dramas in Korean without subtitles, it's important for me to practice listening to Korean.

The article recommends practice listeing to Korean for at least 15-30 minutes everyday. It says that even passive listening helps. Doing active listening practice for 15-30 minutes a day feels a bit stressful to me. I wonder if watching a K-drama for 20-30 minutes every day counts as Korean listening practice.

I’m getting more and more private students, sometimes is quite normal to have to teach four or five lessons a day, two or three days in a row. I think that’s good for the money, and it’s a good problem to have, to have too much work.

The thing is that I was talking with someone who also teaches his native language and we agree with the fact that even though we enjoy the lessons and talking to students, it drains your social battery. Sometimes I don’t wanna talk with anyone after my lessons. Because of that I was not able to continue with some language exchanges I did in the past with some excellent partners.

Correct Me! Streak 721: “English gives you access to information” argument

I’ve always thought the argument that English gives you access to information is pointless. Or rather, I believe actually putting effort into learning something is much more important. Knowing English doesn’t automatically grant you knowledge of quantum physics, the history of Bhutan, or whatever. If that were the case, native English speakers would be more knowledgeable in general than the rest of the world, and it is clearly not the case. I believe that it’s possible to be more well-versed in pretty much any field than the vast majority of anglophones without ever using English.

Correct Me! Streak 306: Crayons

I bought some crayons and a new notebook from Eslite bookstore yesterday. I was so excited and couldn't wait to get home to use them. They only cost me NT$200, but I feel like they're worth so much more than that. I finally have more colors to work with. Recently, I feel like I'm a kid again. Hanging out with friends, drawing and exercising have brought back that feelings, I hope I can keep my inner child alive and continue doing things that make me happy.

Last time I wrote a long story but I hadn’t finished at that point and I forgot to save the draft, so everything lost. This time I remember it. I need to learn English I think. I play Apex recently. I’m a platinum and I’m a solo player. Now I’m platinum 2 and I find it’s little difficult to gain progress. I think my accuracy is not bad I always hit more damages than my teammates. But it’s just can’t win the game. Especially in the E-district, I feel like if your team can’t finish the pushing quickly then you will be pushed by the other one or more teams. Maybe I can find some good teammates here.

I ended up putting down AI Engineering, a book that addresses different topics related to building applications with AI models. One of the reasons of dropping it was that I wasn't getting engaged, my mind wandering and then I had to get back to the idea. Furthermore, I had to skip a whole chapter because it required some domain knowledge related to Machine Learning, so it would've been a waste of time trying to read it in the first place.

Regardless of how useful it might be for some people, it might not be for me at this moment; however, the book helps you understand why some models are called language or large language models to an extent.

Correct Me! Streak 63: The Joy of Running

Although I feel breathless and tired most of the time when I run, I still find it enjoyable. This is because: 1. I move my body intensely, whereas I barely move during the day. 2. I listen to music I like to the rhythm of my pace. 3. I feel the wind passing through my body.

Correct Me! Streak 1 - Return to the office and new resolution

I'm back to work. I thought it would sting a bit, but I feel okay. The first day isn't that hard, as I mostly have to check and sort hundreds of emails. I'm pretty happy to see my colleagues. The problem is I'm craving for a nap. I can even hear my breathing getting deeper and deeper.

That's why I've decided to start a streak, just to keep me awake. Let's call it a resolution. Let's write something daily, right after lunch, to keep me from collapsing on my desk.

Correct Me! Streak 795

I've lived in my new apartment for five months now and I think I finally have all the furniture I want and need to live here. I have a bed and a huge couch and a closet for my clothes. I have two shelves - one for books next to my couch and one in the kitchen for additional space (I have cupboards in the kitchen as well). I have a desk to work at, a table to eat at, and a smaller table to sit at on the balcony. I have four chairs in total: two for my dining table and two for the one on the balcony. I use one of the dining area chairs when I want to sit at my desk. In addition to the chairs, Ialso have two stools. One is a wooden step stool with two steps; I use it to sit on, as a coffee table or something to put my legs up on when I'm sitting on the couch, as well as something to stand on when I have to reach the upper cabinets in the kitchen (I'm small). I haven't found a permanent use for the second stool yet; I just had to save it for some reason when my mom wanted to get rid of it. Maybe I'll use it to put a plant on it or something like that.

I got a second visa yesterday.

I went through hard time in a farm.

Coming back city is kinda...

I feel good and gloomy at once

Everyday I was farm, talk with my sharemates, do same thing, laugh for same thing.

But in city, I think all people do their own thing, rarely share each other.

It's even a first day I was back in city. But I miss them all.

Correct Me! Streak 182, I tried to fix my father's computer

I tried to fix my father's computer.

In the morning, my father called me to fix his computer.

Well, I graduated from the department of electronics engineering.

I had fixed my own electronics whenever they broke.

So, I thought it was not big deal,

but I saw the fan in his computer was broken so his computer was overheating.

So, I told my father I couldn't fix it because the fan was broken.

Then, my father was disappointed.

Sorry, Father, I'm not Tony Stark.
