Hey all, I am playing through 2 right now. Will I miss anything drastic story wise if I do not do most of the side quests? I feel like most of them are fetch type quests with minor unconnected stories so I wanted to focus on the main story.
I ahve done a few that awarded blades already, but it's been awhile since that lol

I'm playing through Torna right now and I notice my character will have a staggered run when I'm moving around, randomly slow down and speed back up back and forth. Anyone else experience this or is my left joystick having issues
3
u/Morag_Ladair Jul 24 '22
I have similar issues, only when trying to move right though. It’s likely your joystick is about to start drifting
2
u/Namegro Jul 24 '22
Interesting. Thanks! I have the OLED for about a year now so hoping it didn't mess up the joystick. It's not a drift but like a stall. Idk weird
2
u/MorthCongael Jul 24 '22
you could try recalibrating your joycon in the switch menu. settings->controllers iirc

Is there an up to date missables list/guide with only minor spoilers?
3
u/shitposting_irl Jul 25 '22 edited Aug 13 '22
stuff most people would care about:
do the 3 quests in indol before mid-chapter 8: mellica the chorister, indol's teachings, and ripe new frontier (for ripe new frontier you just have to progress it until it moves to temperantia and then it will no longer be missable)
do not kill the baby ardun in gormott until you've leveled it up all the way
stuff most people probably won't care about:
chest in the maelstrom during chapter 1
chests in the ancient ship
chests in indol
various stuff to do with vandham (his favourite pouch items, maxing his arts/affinity chart, using a pouch expansion kit/accessory expander kit (ng+ only) on him)
the insect hunter I, indoor attack up I, earth def up I, and water def up I aux cores are only available from enemies in the titan battleship before completing chapter 4
during the quest "fame and family" there are 4 pouch items you can only get by entering the wrong recipes
the minerals in agate's blade quest are no longer obtainable once you collect the final one (note that one of the minerals is only obtainable in ng+ anyway due to a bug)
any merc missions you don't unlock during ursula's blade quest become unavailable when you complete it (seriously don't go for these though, it makes the quest even worse)
when tracking the barrels during chapter 4 you get an option to pass a field skill check (and receive an info item) or complete a merc mission. if you start the merc mission and then complete the skill check before it completes you get both the completed mission and the info item
the favored hammer and book of knowledge you get from people using floren are only obtainable once and do not carry forward into ng+ (ie. if you get them in your first playthrough and start ng+ they're gone forever and you can't get them a second time)

u/Hunt1998 Jul 25 '22
Is Tiger! Tiger! stage 5 the best stage to get the most ether for poopswap or do they all give the same amount?
3
u/shitposting_irl Jul 25 '22
stage 2 is the best iirc. it's decently easy to collect everything on and if you see a layout that looks like this, you can hold right where the crystals on the right are to go to a secret area where you can get a lot at once. it's possible to get this multiple times in a single session (one time i got the secret stage 3 times and ended up with 5999 at the end)
2
u/Rokka3421 Jul 25 '22
Secret areas are more important and from what i remember stage 1 is the best also you can buy ether in ng+

As xenoblade chronicles 3 will be releasing in a few days , i thought I might complete torna the golden country dlc . I have a physical cartridge of xenoblade chronicles 2 ( EUROPE REGION) but I have a US eshop . So if I buy the expansion pack from US eshop will it work my EU region physical cartridge or do I need to create a new EU account ( uk or Ireland) to buy the expansion pack.

4h into XB2 and I’m not sure what items to get from the countless vendors. I assume I can skip all equitable, non-consumables like in XB1 since everything found in the field will be better anyway? How often should I buy cylinders for scavenging?
3
u/shitposting_irl Jul 31 '22
focus on desserts because those tend to have the arts recharge effect iirc. as for actual equipment maybe buy core chips if you're not getting enough through drops, but other than that there's not much worth buying at the average shop.
buy cylinders as necessary imo, no real need to keep a stockpile
3
u/RealSkyDiver Aug 04 '22
When should I start using cores? I got some legendary ones from the DLC but don’t wanna waste them. Right now I only have 2 characters I can summon with and I guess I can ignore aux cores? Unless I can refine them already I’m not gonna bother wasting time on gathering stuff. Right now I can only refine I and II cores but I heard I shouldn’t waste it on them unless I have V cores. I tend to ignore a lot of systems in this game because it’s too overwhelming and needlessly convoluted. I really hope XBC3 doesn’t have this issue.
3
u/PadraigTheMemorable Aug 04 '22
It doesn’t really matter when you start using cores, you have the same pull chance for rare blades throughout the whole game. If you get a blade on a character that you’d want on someone else (eg a healer on Rex that you actually want on Nia), you can use an overdrive protocol to switch the driver. As for aux cores, you’ll find better ones as you progress the story further so it doesn’t matter if you use lower level ones early on. I’d recommend refining the ones you have now and using them until you get better ones

when should I include Torna dlc when I play the base game?
6
u/shitposting_irl Aug 17 '22
play it after finishing 2. some will say to play it around chapter 7 or so because the developers originally planned for it to be there, but don't do that; there's a reason they split it off into its own game (namely that it would absolutely kill the pacing).
2
u/Emotional_Bass_8999 Aug 18 '22
thanks for the answer. do you have any thoughts on the other dlc contents that I should know about? Or is everything else in the dlc pretty self explanatory? E.g. like the blades you get, the core crystals etc.

Now that I have I finished XC3 it’s made me want to give 2 another try. The first time around I ended up losing interest as traversal and figuring out how to get to the next quest point or npc I needed was a little unclear. I kept getting frustrated as I couldn’t navigate where to go next and ended up dropping the game. Playing xc3 there is an ability to create a waypoint line using L2 and Y. Is there something similar in 2 that I missed?

Minoth is the only one of the main gang who survived long enough to potentially document Addam’s exploits
jin and mikhail are technically possibilities too, though minoth is obviously way more likely

u/Ragnatheblooddude Jan 20 '25
Just curious why is herald sometimes losing max affinity with my driver during my chain attack. From the wiki there is almost no interaction there that should drastically affect my affinity
3
u/omegamk3 Feb 11 '26
is there a wiki for xenoblade 2? I know there's the fandom wiki, but I wouldn't trust fandom with telling me how to make a ham sandwich much less a complicated rpg. I also know about chuggaconroy being an amazing source for stuff, but that's a whole ass lets play and I can't just search up what I want to know in all 200~ parts.

Hey, all! I’m on Chapter 4 and just bonded with Roc.
Earlier in the game, Rex bonded with Adenine, so I’m feeling a little meh (meh) about the fact that Rex currently has both of my Wind-based rare blades.
Would it be advisable to use Overdrive Protocol to bond Nia with Adenine so my Wind blades are more distributed, or nah?
→ More replies (1)2
u/Morag_Ladair Jul 23 '22
I woudnt personally do this for the sake of having fairer elemental distribution, but I would do this for the sake of giving Nia Adenine and moving her off of Rex. If this would consume your last overdrive protocol however, don’t do it, as you’ll want to save that for something more significant
2
u/gluggin Jul 23 '22
Thank you for this response — it’s super helpful to hear the mechanisms that would drive you to go ahead with it or not. This would be the first Overdrive Protocol I use in the game, so I think I’m going to go ahead with it!

Chapter 6 in Xenoblade 2. I’m starting to love the game but realize I understand nothing and need help.
I need help.
I was rushing through the game for part 3 and realize how silly that is now because 3 isn’t gonna go anywhere and I’m honestly loving this game now.
Problem is I don’t know what I’m doing kinda.
I’m using Rex with mythra/corvin/agate.
Zeke with pandora/crossette/kos-mod.
Fat boy tora with his 2 robo girls.
I just feel like I suck right now. I’m not using pouch items which I realize I was dumb not to do. I don’t understand how affinities work and if I can permanently get them up and if that even does anything.
I really feel like items in this game confuse me.
I don’t know if my load out is stupid or not. I’m trying to make zeke my healer but it doesn’t seem to work well and maybe I should have crit on hit for tora as well. I’m playing on easy and I don’t find the game TOO hard but some regular battles have me sweating.
I barely do side quests because I was rushing I probably should go back and do some for levels.
I dunno. I just feel like now I’m really paying attention and realize I should be doing better
2
u/Hunt1998 Jul 25 '22
In my opinion you’re team set up for Rex doesn’t seem bad and having Tora as the tank is fine, I mainly use him as tank personally, but I think having Nia as the healer would be way better since both her Bitball and Rings weapons have arts that have straight healing ability’s instead of only potion drops and if you have then maybe use one overdrive to change Crossette to nia since her lvl 2 special is a REALLY good heal and if Nia is a master healer (all three blades are healer types) that can possibly fully heal the team.

Is the conduit at the end of xc2 one of the exact same zohars that's in xenosaga?
3
u/Morag_Ladair Jul 25 '22
In principle, the conduit is the Zohar, a golden cross-shaped relic found in Kenya that provides infinite energy, acts as a dimensional gateway and is pseudo-sentient
Is it the exact same one that appears in Saga, probably not

Is there any detriment for awakening/bonding blades early?
In some games, characters and gear stats have a lower stat cap if unlocked too early, meaning they will never reach the power of one unlocked later. Are there any limiters like this applied to awakening blades?
3
u/shitposting_irl Aug 01 '22
not for any of the unique blades. for the common blades the stuff you'll pull toward the end of the game will be better than the stuff you pull early in the game though
2
u/gluggin Aug 01 '22
Tora has the Affinity Chart skill called Health Bomb, which “Increases HP restored to self (not using HP Potions) by 10%.” What does “not using HP Potions” mean in that context? I can’t think of any other ways HP would be restored during battle.

I'm listing down the blades I don't have, if someone could tell me which ones are from gacha and other from side quests would be appreciated.
I'm missing Vale, Boreas, Kassandra, Praxis, Theory, Kora, Nim, Sheba, Vess, Finch Kos-mos and Herald.

kasandra, theory, praxis, sheba, vess, and herald are all obtained outside of the gacha

When was title screen added to the game?
The title screen where Rex, Pyra and Mythra are holding hands; was that in the base game when it first came out or was that added in a later update?

Should i pick up XC2's DLC? I was thinking about picking up XC2 for a while but i was wondering if i should also get the DLC while im at it or just the base game?
2
u/Mixaz017 Sep 20 '22
Absolutely! Post-game challenge mode blades (Shulk / Fiora / Elma) are cool especially if you have played previous Xenoblade games, and additional quests from DLC are fun. But the biggest reason I recommend buying the DLC is the Torna ~ The Golden Country, a new story with altered combat system. Torna adds a LOT of backgrounds about characters of the base game and to the story as a whole.

u/linthenius Sep 22 '22
I'm at a point in the game where it feels I should be puting more effort into optimizing element coverage on party members.
Assuming I primarily use Roc, Wulfric, and Perun on rex. Recomendations for element types on everyone else to minimize dead ends on blade combos?

Hopefully this thread isn't dead. I had a question now that I started XC2 coming straight from XC:DE.
I noticed that I could reset my swing timer on my auto attacks for a technical faster rate of attacks with both Nias rings, Rexs sword, and some others. Is this more damage than just letting the auto attack cycle complete? For example, Rexs sword with pyra will swing three times with the third doing the most damage. If you tap a direction, the swing timer will reset and you'll start your cycle faster. Would I do more damage if I just tapped the direction input every time, resetting my swing timer and building up my arts after the first auto attack? I understand that the autos deal more damage as the 3-hit cycle goes on, but maybe it's more damage to just spam the light hit and build up your arts faster. Has anyone broken down the dps on this?
→ More replies (3)2
Sep 26 '22
Actually, speedrunners do this, and it is called stutter stepping. Yes, it is actually better to do this to get faster art recharge. You could probably Google stutter stepping to get the finer details on it.

Less a question about gameplay and more about the story. Spoilers ahead.
So I recently beat Ch 5, which is when Jin (sp?) kills Fan La Norne. Is it weird that I felt absolutely no emotions regarding it? It's pretty obvious to me that the praetor is being set up as a major antagonist so from what I can gather, Jin killed her so she'd no longer be his blade.
And then there's Ch 6 with Nial's sacrifice. I was legitimately shocked by that turn of events and then both annoyed and relieved that Nia managed to revive him. I thought maybe his death would allow some of the Ardainian higher-ups to wage war but nope, I got baited. I guess since Vandham died I was expecting more unexpected deaths?
So I guess my question is if it's weird that I didnt feel anything by watching Haze be killed because I figure Jin has a good reason for it but I'm kinda mad that Nial was revived even though I love his character?
2
u/shitposting_irl Oct 01 '22
fyi your spoiler tags seem broken. try removing the space between them and the text
it's not weird at all imo. on top of the stuff you mentioned i found that haze's time with the party was really too short to get attached to her and that rex's reaction to her death came off as a little weird because of it
2
u/Cygnus776 Oct 01 '22
I fixed it. Apparently the spoiler tags were borked on mobile but not PC. It's good to see that I wasn't the only one who found it a bit off.

u/CeaRhan Oct 13 '22
Hey guys, figured here'd be the best place to ask this as it's about (spoilers for the entirety of 2 - ending included) The relation between XC1 and XC2 (the retcon about 1 tbf) and a few questions I have after finishing Future Connected.
I just finished replaying 1 on the DE version and Future Connected. I played 2 too back when it came out and I'm aware of how they're related. My questions are more about the understanding we get of the Monado following the retcon that XC1 got. What I mean by that is that I'm asking what we knew from XC1/Future Connected/XC2, as I'm about to head into XC3
I replayed the game already aware of it and expected it to be expanded in some capacity but all we got really was that necklace change. So obviously we know about Ontos. So Alvis is essentially an Aegis Blade that is able to hide its status as a Blade in this world and can operate separately from its weapon form while allowing Shulk to still tap into what it does. And it can do that because it's still part of the process/machine that was used by Klaus. That Blade is literally a Master key as long as you feed it Ether and Alvis lets you do what you want. But here's the source of my incomprehension: what are we to make of Alvis just straight up vanishing after XC1? Is the Aegis destroyed? Did he actually self-destruct while "recreating the world" (really just moving continents around)? Did that happen because he spent his own energy? Or did he just decide "okay I will just not interfere anymore because he said he had no need for gods"?
Also Dunban wiedling the Monado while injuring himself can be seen as the equivalent of someone not able to use a Blade forcing himself onto it I guess, but Alvis is seemingly way too in tune with his Blade form. So was he testing Dunban and Homs during the war? Considering Alvis made it clear that anyone could wield the damn Blade, even a Lapix, it seems a bit weird in the end.

Silly question, but it popped in my mind and I can't seem to resolve it. What genre is Tiger Tiger!? It's not quite a platformer, not quite a shooter, not quite a puzzle game. A bit of a mix of those is what I could come up with, but I know there's a more concise answer I'm not thinking of. Thankss

He hates the world and everything in it, believing that the Architect's will is for everything to be destroyed. The core-crystal cleansing is part of this: since it prevents Blades from maturing into Titans, it's reducing the size of the world over time and ultimately leading to mass extinction. He also considers Blades to be tools, not people, which is why he resented the Tornan country's progressive style of treating Blades as equal to humans. Hence why he led the campaign to kill all their survivors after their Titan sank.

I've been playing the game for 80 hours and I haven't been able to figure this but surely there's a way to see place names on the map, right? Not fast travel names, but the parts of the map that are given names in the top right of your HUD.
For example, on Corvin's affinity chart it says to go to Messet Point on Leftheria. How do I check my map to find Messet Point so I don't have to just wander around until the name pops up in the top right?

I’m at a spot in the XC2 story where you need lvl 3 ancient wisdom, and the parameter to upgrade one of my blades’ ancient wisdom is to find 5 insect collectibles. I’ve gone to several dozen collection points and found insects at most of them, but the number hasn’t gone up on the progress tracker in the affinity chart. Help?

I've got a few random gameplay questions that I can't figure out.
1) Are quest SP rewards affected by level like battle SP rewards are?
2) Some characters, like Tora, have affinity nodes that grant them a battle bonus upon getting an excellent score on an in-battle button challenge. Do these nodes ever activate when using autobattle?

So iv been playing xenoblade 2 and been doing the chalige panic at the seaside and im playing as rex and i keep taking agro even when im not attacking. I even gave 4th agro items so they wouldnt initiate on Rex because I'm playing as him because I don't know why the agro system focuses the person you're playing as. But initially they'll go for fourth, but even if I'm not attacking they'll just go to Rex. At first I thought it was because I was doing too much damage but then did a couple runs with me Not even attacking and they just went for me. Is there a reason for this? Is there a way to fix this? Im like in chapter 8 or 9.

Level-ups and core chips are the main ways of increasing your base damage. Aux cores, accessories, pouch items, and each blade's abilities from their affinity chart can further boost your damage output.
However, auto-attacks and arts are supposed to only slowly wittle away at the enemy's health. To deal serious damage, you're supposed to make heavy use of blade combos, driver combos, and chain attacks. But the game doesn't properly introduce driver combos until after you meet Vandham and chain attacks come after that. And since all your party members are limited to 1-2 blades each at the moment, it's also more difficult to make effective use of blade combos.
The game limiting your options for so long (and doing a poor job at explaining mechanics when it does finally introduce them) is a common complaint with the game. It should get better once you get a good grip on the full combat system.

Does treasure wisdom work if she’s not in the active party?
1
u/shitposting_irl Jun 04 '24
she does need to be on one of the drivers in the active party, but she doesn't need to actually be out on the field. ie. if you have her as one of rex's 3 blades, it works if he's in the active party but has pyra out instead

that means the corresponding idea stat increases for that blade's driver when you unlock the node. for your screenshot there, it means rex got a boost to his truth stat

I'm looking for a quote that I believe mythra says post chapter 7 "I no longer live in fear" Iirc it's a post battle quote For the life of me I can't seem to find this quote at all in the wiki Maybe it's pneuma who says this I'm trying to figure out if I just imagined her saying this or not

How practical is the Carbon Mythra Aux Core in the post game?

I'm currently plaything through the first Xenoblade game, and am planning on buying 2 and 3. I'm a little bit confused about the DLC for 2. The Expansion Pass is $30, and says it gives you Torna, but Torna is $40 as its own purchase. I'm just confused as to why there's a price difference, or if there's a reason that I'd want to buy Torna as a standalone thing rather than just buying the Expansion Pass.
1
u/Wuscheli0 Dec 05 '24
We don't know the exact reason for the price difference. Two possible reasons I could think of:
Standalone Torna received a physical release. Since the production of physical items costs money, it makes sense to charge more for it than for the 100% digital Expansion Pass. That price carried over to the digital version of Torna.
If you buy the Expansion Pass, you've already bought XC2 (likely at full price). But if you choose to get Torna on its own, you may not own XC2. So Nintendo wants you to pay a little more.
That second point is also the only advantage that buying standalone Torna would have: You don't need to own XC2 to play it. As someone who doesn't sell their games, I prefer the convenience of having all the content in one game, so I'd pick the Expansion Pass even if it didn't cost less.

I am currently doing a NG+ playthrough of Xenoblade 2 where I try to see what can be done with the Zombie Hover exploit by skipping event triggers and basically exploring areas before the story would allow me. I am currently where Rex is alone and am having trouble triggering the exploit. I have tried the regular timing one where respawning in the dead state but it hasn't worked out as well as started trying the core crystal awakening version. I have had no luck in getting it to work right now and am wondering if I need more party members for it to work or if there's a way with just Rex
2
u/KazuhaSimp Jan 19 '25
Do i need to play xenblade chronicles 1? And is there references from the first game on the second?
2
u/Wuscheli0 Jan 19 '25
XC2 is relatively standalone, so you can play and enjoy it without knowledge from XC1. However, there are references to XC1, and it is recommended that you play the games in the proper order for the best experience.

If I don't level up the mercenaries but still do quests will the points carry over to the next level
2
u/Useful_Bandicoot362 Aug 15 '25
If you do mercenaries mission and you reach the max point for level 1 for exemple which is 1500 points, and that you keep doing quest without leveling up the mercenaries, the point you will get after reaching the max for the level will not carry. (If you need 1500 point to level up and that you get 2500 and level up after, you will not start level 2 with 1000 point, you will need to start over)

Hello everyone! So I just reached mid way through chapter 5 of XB2 and I'm pretty much done with the optional stuff in this game. Unfortunately the side quests/blade quests/affinity trees have almost made me lose interest in continuing this game so I need to stop incase it happens lol. I'd like to know whether XB3 handles side quests and exploration better than 2? There's a lot of things I like about this series, but the back tracking fetch quests is absolutely not one of them. I know there will be fetch quests in 3, but is it as bad? Thanks.

Is there anyone here who can create a comprehensive list of all outfits in the game, their stats, and where to find non-DLC outfits, all on one table? All I could find in the wiki was a page index (not like each page has too much info to include in a table), and I want something I can simply read, as opposed to a video I would have to watch through and toggle around.

I want to get the story and go on to XBC3 and its DLC. I have heard for 2's DLC, basically, you have (or "really strongly recommended 'should'") play everything side quest wise. Is this true, and what can I skip and/or what should I really do in XBC2 base game/DLC to fully enjoy (or 99%+ anyway) XBC3 and its DLC?
2
u/Wuscheli0 Nov 04 '25
There are several points throughout Torna where the game requires you to reach a certain community level before you can progress the story. To raise the community level, you have to complete sidequests. If you want to reach the end of the dlc story, you have to do a majority of the sidequests.
Anyway, you only need to finish the base game of XC2 (and XC1) in order to get 99% enjoyment out of XC3 and Future Redeemed. Torna is almost completely irrelevant to XC3. (The same goes for any optional content in the base game.) I'd still recommend playing Torna if you can stomach the mandatory sidequest. It's really good. But you wouldn't miss anything if you just went ahead to XC3.

I'm about to go into a ng+ playthrough, and I know awakened blades are kept, but what happens if I release one before ng+, then obtain them again in it? Does the affinity chart stay completed like if I reawakened them in base ng? Or is it back to square 1 again?

u/Technolord3233 Dec 03 '25
Am currently start of chapter 6 and decided to try start evasion mythra build, I have the common blades with 17 and 20% agility + their weapons, also I have hunters chemistry on them (and mythra got affinity atk and evasion). However what should the rest of the team look like? Before this I used rex dps then nia tora heal and tank. Nia has kosmos for a bit of damage? But now is rex meant to be the main tank? Should I replace tora with the 5th character for dps? Or does mythra do decent good damage even with 2 tank teammates (idk if the class bonuses to dmg is much)

Are there any cheats to lower XP gain? I've seen one for Xenoblade 1 on the Wii but none for Xenoblade 2

u/XodanR Aug 01 '26
How to activate link skills in Merc Assault? The tutorial only mentions they exist and I can see the yellow link between the blades, but I don't see a button prompt for them.

u/Xngears Aug 02 '26
Wanted to start the game over on NG+ alongside the Switch 2 update, having only played the original campaign once before DLCs.
I don't want to just one-shot everything as that would be too boring, so I wanted to ask about the best settings in balancing NG+'s difficulty. I know you can lower your levels at the Inn and that there's a Bringer of Chaos difficulty, but so far I'm still tearing through enemies since my Blades still have their leveled-up attributes. I read about the custom difficulty, but what I got back is that it's most damage sponge modifiers that also lack the unique challenges the Chaos difficulty introduces.
So I just wanted to know where I can set everything so that it's still a reasonable challenge, not overly easy or overly difficult.

I have time to finish xenoblade 2 before xenoblade 3?
I'm 42 hours into xenoblade 2 and am currently on chapter 5 is there enough time for me to finish the game before xenoblade 3 if I skip torna or should I give up on playing xenoblade 3 when it comes out and unsub from here to avoid spoilers

Do the 152 Sidquests already include the 26 DLC Quests or are there 178 Quests in Total with the DLC?

Does anyone know the total number of SP needed per driver for their hidden affinity chart or where I can find a spreadsheet of it? I want to be able to max them out upon starting ng+. I don't want to spend more time then I need to if possible.
2
u/bens6757 Aug 02 '22
You need 175,000 per character. It's honestly easier to just do it in ng+ itself by dropping your levels to 60 and overkilling the final boss which grants you about 2,500 per kill.
Please note Nia actually has a bit of negative synergy on her hidden chart because she has a portion that gives her self healing. The issue she euns ubro is using Azami who requires low health to do high damage but her self healing prevents that.

What are some of the best blades on each character (no NG+ blades or shulk/fiora)
So far I’m running mythra and nia on rex so I need a 3rd blade for him
Elma and Corvin on morag (thinking about theory for her third)
Kos mos and pandora on zeke (not sure what to run for third on him was thinking Xenobia or vale but idk)
Any good tips would be appreciated. Also where are some good spots to farm good accessories and blade weapon chips/aux cores? I know super bosses have the best but I need the “2nd” best to prepare for the super bosses lol
1
u/Mixaz017 Apr 20 '24
I recommend watching the blade tier list and the best driver for blades videos from Enel.
Theory and Xenobia are solid choices imo. You can then run Wulfric on Rex to have all 8 elements.
Mirror Matter Chip is a good chip to use on most blades before getting actual endgame chips. You can farm them in Temperantia.
For aux cores you can just farm Affinity MAX Atk V from Beast-Hunter William in Uraya, the wiki lists him as a quest monster but he's actually a unique monster. You can put more aux cores or accessories but you don't need that level of optimization for superbosses, especially considering you are already doing NG+ run.

u/Sharebear42019 Apr 20 '24
I’m still in normal game I wanted to do everything I could before new game plus. Thanks for all the info though! I’m able to beat sea king and that little raptor guy but the others are pretty tough especially the challenge battles

Figured I'd make this an easy question. Is it possible to switch Rare Blades with other Drivers besides the ones that awakened them? Haven't played in a good long while so a lot of stuff in XB2 has kind of been wiped from my memory. And I am speaking purely the Rare Blades, not Legendary Blades.
1
u/shitposting_irl Jun 04 '24
yes, but you need to use an overdrive protocol
1
u/Mixaz017 Jun 24 '24
Or, if you have a lot of crystals, you can release the blade and pull the blade on your desired driver. iirc you keep everything including affinity, except the core chip.

1
u/Snassyboi Jul 26 '24
Hey I got KOS-MOS early game (recently reached Uraya), though i dont really know how to build her. What Aux cores do i use?
1
u/Mixaz017 Jul 27 '24
Congrats on pulling her. Hunter's Chemistry could be a good choice if you're leading with her since it can help activate her Hyperclock skill faster for more damage dealt + less damage taken. Otherwise anything that are generally good goes (maybe except crit related ones since ether cannon crit rate is very low). For example affinity max atk, blade combo boost/fusion combo up, indoor/outdoor atk up etc.

Is the game still worth buying even after watching all the cutscenes? This game has the best story out of any game I've ever played and I really want to buy it but I'm afraid that i want enjoy it because I already know what happens.
2
u/Numerous-Beautiful46 Aug 24 '24
I'm replaying the game right now and still having fun. Idk why you watched the cutscenes (no switch?). But the story is good even knowing what happens. Honestly, I've been enjoying my second playthrough more, knowing these dumbass characters are eventually gonna get impregnated by rex's seed lmao.
It's definitely worth it. Depending on your pc, I'd actually recommend purchasing and then playing it on pc with an emulator. 60fps and 4k is a fucking god send. Good lord it looks and plays like garbage on the switch.
1
u/Numerous-Beautiful46 Aug 24 '24
Is this game meant to have really bad lip sync or is this an emulator problem. Nia laughing before she even emotes was odd 😭

I need the elemental weakness/resistance explained ELI5 style. Online I read that fire was weak to water, but this subreddit said it was strong to fire. I just need it explained very simply. Thanks.
1
u/shitposting_irl Apr 10 '25
the icon on the bar at the top is the element the enemy is weak to. if you hit them with that element, you do an extra 20% damage. if you hit them with the opposite of that element (opposite pairs are fire-water, earth-electric, wind-ice, and light-dark), you do 20% less damage
1
u/Smooth_Lunch_9574 Mar 26 '25
Why is there a level 81 in the first area? I get scaring people with big monsters, but like, level 81? And he can pick a fight with you. I'd not complain if you decdied to fight him at a low level, but guy stompped me when I was fighting nearby dogs. Like dang man, I am trying to level, I'm level 10. Life is shitty for me. I don't need King Kong to swat me down.

u/Mixaz017 Apr 13 '25
It's a tradition, every Xenoblade game has a lv80+ big monkey in the first open area. Although XC2 one is the most dangerous because he runs around pretty fast.

Using Zenobia on Rex is really great because it's really good with Attackers, using Kos-Mos and Herald on Nia isn't that good. Cannon Blade like Kos-Mos and Herald, are better with Attackers Character like Rex and Zeke, Zeke is the best for Kos-Mos. Nia with Crossette is really good! I would give Nia maybe Boreas or Nim, and Dromach is a safe value with Nia.
You're Morag build is perfect, because she is really good with Katana and Spears.
Hope i helped you!

does a blade need to be on field for their party wide battle skill to be in effect? like can i get max affinity on dagas then swap him out, or does he need to always be active for kaiser zone to work?

typically they have to be active, though bonuses to drop rate are an exception iirc (ie. adenine's treasure wisdom)

So, I'm trying to understand the mechanics around core crystal gacha. I'm on ng+. At first chance, I did a couple legendary crystals and got Ursula as a pity pull, so I know it's "group 5" for this. The very next core crystal I used was legendary, and got another rare blade. Wanted to use the calculator I found here to find the odds of that, looks like the odds of getting any rare blade was roughly 4%. but another calculator says there's a ~44% to add any rare blade to the pool. I guess I'm trying to understand the difference, and figure out if it was indeed that 4% or 44%? I hope I'm asking this right

Hi there!
So after a long time i decided to play the series, i know some characters thanks to smash and project x zone 2 but i didn't understand some things of them after some time thanks to the voucher program i bought xenoblade 1 and xenoblade 2 for the nintendo switch and started playing xenoblade 2.
And after some time i didn't understand much how to play, i played a lot of turn based rpg like dragon quest, pokemon, persona, etc... And for the first time i don't know what to do with the battle mechanics like does the position matter in this games? or why i can't choose what things do my allies.
So may i ask if anyone can give me a tip to get used to play a game like this for a first timer, thanks in advance and i hope i don't bother a lot

I want to play xb2 with the upcoming sw2 patch next month, but the one thing that kept me away as a casual was people being displeased with the gacha-element of the blade system.
Is it possible to just go through the main story to completion with a few side quests done here and there?
Thanks in advance!
1
u/Puzzleheaded-Rain640 Jul 30 '26
Oh absolutely, its almost more optimal not to use some rare blades because if you pull them early their progression is locked to areas your not in yet (not to say this is a problem just a bottleneck on min maxing) almost every character is VERY good with strictly story blades and the few aide quest given rare blades (if you have the dlc pack thise blades you get that arent crossover are AMAZING) rare blades are range from really not worth the time to insanely good alternative options based on the driver. But thank god overide protocols let you swap blades between party

Help me understand, Xenoblade 2
Can someone please confirm if I have this correct?
I have a Canadian switch 1 and 2. I am going to Tokyo in two weeks and would like to pick up a copy of Xenoblade 2. The Japanese version is Japanese only. If I make a Japanese eShop account and fund it with online Japanese gift cards, I can buy the switch 2 upgrade and then play the upgraded switch 2 version in English on my switch 2. Is this correct? Can I then just buy the English dlc on the north America eShop or would I have to do the same for the dlc?
1
u/DeadMoonKing 29d ago
I just experienced this. I have a US NS2 and the JP version of the game. I bought the US version of the upgrade and it did not work with my version. I had to get the JP version from the eShop. I hope that answers your question!

I think I soft locked myself.
I’m on chapter ten of XC2 and in the colossal hangar (I think that’s what it’s called) the control panel to open the door to the next area isn’t giving me a prompt so I have no way of progressing right now.
I activated the panel and watched the door open but I went all the way back to the beginning of the room because I saw a chest there earlier. when I came back the door was closed and the panel stop giving a prompt to open the door.
if anyone knows how to fix this please tell me.

I used a common core crystal, but I don't see the new blade in the "Characters" section of the menu screen. However, I do see them in the "Manage blades" section. Did I glitch the game? Why can't I equip them?

Do Xenoblade brand amiibos give you better rewards than non Xenoblade? I scanned Pyra, Mythra, Shulk, Sonic, and Mario Cereal box but it's hard to tell. Also it's been a long time since I played so idk what any of the rewards mean. Also I know about the outfits for scanning Pyra and Mythra.
also is there a faster way to release blades and open new ones?
1
u/Miyyani Jul 30 '26
Also I've been playing on ng+ and the game is piss easy. I'd like to keep my rare blades and such though, and new game plus has exclusive content. How do I retain my sense of challenge and progression? should I delete all my items?

u/FlatAutumn Jul 30 '26
With the definitive edition, the dub is the same as the original? I couldnt bear with how the voices sounded so detached from the game and only played until the factory or something like that.
Are the voices better? Or is just graphics? I played in english btw

Do passive skills like momos drop rate boost work if she is off field. Off field as in equiped but not the active blade.

I’ve started a ng+ save file that I had prepared for the ns2 edition.
Idk what I’m doing wrong

So like if I buy the DLC, would all the profiles get it or just the one? Because I kinda still want to go back to the og one to compare. So is it possible or no possible way?

u/Irrstern 29d ago
if the virtual gamecard is loaded on the system all accounts have access to it on the system. if you want to disable the dlc you can just unload the virtual gamecard for the dlc. It is all or nothing tho, either everyone can use it (gamecard is loaded) on a given switch or nobody (gamecard unloaded).
(i don't know if dlc get seperate vgcs if the base game is digital too so you might be sol in that case)

Hey guys! Kind of random question, but for rare blades, should I be switching them out on my characters to build up trust on different blades, or is it better to stay on one blade until it’s trust is fully maxed out?
1
u/AnimaLepton 24d ago
Generally staying on the 'good' blades is better. You don't care about maxing Vess's trust if you're never going to use her in combat

Can anyone confirm if the Bond Blade process has been improved on the NS2 version? I remember it was quite tedious in the original release like unskippable animations
I have read/seen some of the other QOL improvements and they are great so I'm wondering if they also improved the process of bonding with blades

u/AnimaLepton 24d ago

Is the switch 2 version of XC2 worth getting? Ik that XC1 and XCX switch 2 editions were disappointing, but I heard people say good things about the XC2 switch 2 edition.
Pls keep spoilers to a minimum I haven't played the game yet.
1
u/AnimaLepton 24d ago
It's significantly improved compared to both the base game, and relative to the improvements in other versions. It was the first one on the Switch, with some issues with the dynamic resolution scaling especially, so there was by far the 'most improvement' potential with it.
Some of the 'new' issues are also mostly tied to specifically new things that are either niche (Amiibo scans) or very far into the game (NG+ functionality), which means the average player is just not going to encounter them.
1
u/AnbuViBritannia 19d ago
Does anyone have a list of what Poppi parts specifically get unlocked for each Technical Manual? I've found plenty of guides on how to get each manual, but nothing on which new mods they unlock.
1
u/AnimaLepton 17d ago edited 17d ago
It's something like Nimble Nopon is Rank 3, Hypertech Made Easy is Rank 5.
I'm less sure on the others, but Ether R&D Revolution in Tantal I believe unlocks some of the 'non-ranked' options plus most element options except for Light and Dark. And I think Artificial Blade Report is some Rank 4s, Robolab Club Quarterly is other Rank 4s + Dark. But some of those could be mixed up
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/204208-xenoblade-chronicles-2/76080528
For practical purposes, all of them except Hypertech Made Easy end up being pretty irrelevant, and most people anyway don't bother with Poppi stuff until NG+ when you can do it without Tiger Tiger.

u/mizore_ 16d ago
I just finished the game. Any advice on what to do/farm before I play New Game+?
2
u/AnimaLepton 16d ago
Most farming and the like is best done in NG+, especially legendary core crystal/rare blade farming.
The main thing to consider is if there are any half-complete blade quests you want to finish (e.g. if you've already made progress in Ursula's, have any quest-related blades you haven't obtained like Theory/Praxis/Vess, or have the DLC but haven't yet grabbed Poppibuster).
Your first kill of Ophion gives 10 Dilaton chips. If you have the DLC, you get an extra 7 from quests per playthrough (and another 3 on the NS2 edition), and they can be farmed in challenge mode. But if you don't have the DLC, you are limited to just 10 chips per playthrough/NG+. You don't actually need more than ~3 though.
1
u/sashattuck 12d ago
[Storage Room in Tantal won't open] I'm trying to get Ether R&D Revolution. I'm on a NG+ in the final chapter. There's a guard outside the storage room but the field skills won't trigger to open the door. Is this perhaps tied to a quest I haven't completed?

u/P3ppRR00n 9d ago
whats the best weapon chips i can get at certain points of the game? Im at CH 4 and just grinded for pentagon chips :3 I wanna know when i should upgrade again NO SPOILERS
2
u/AnimaLepton 9d ago
Right now, if you have the field skills, there is a chest with three Zircon chips in Uraya. These normally drop from enemies in the level 74-78 range and deal bonus damage to Aerial-type enemies, so having three of them is a big power spike over Pentagon if you have the Rare Blades to open the chest early.
After beating Chapter 5, again if you have the field skills, you can get a Treasure Trove with three Shining Star Chips. This is technically a 'defense-oriented' chip, but will still offer a huge damage increase because they're normally farmed/dropped from one of the superbosses. No bonus effects. Speedruns normally pick this up with a glitch to get them before beating the chapter, but casually you can just pick it up right afterwards.
Post-Chapter 5 is generally when people farm Gold Chips (big damage increase, +50% stackable drop rate boost as a bonus effect). This is a pretty bread-and-butter core chip that you can stick on everyone, with some easy exploits to be able to farm it, and it makes any other farming way easier. There's a normal enemy you can fight post-Chapter 5 where you can exploit one of the '1% chance of instant-kill' effects to kill it while underleveled, or a stronger and higher level unique monster in Uraya if you're strong enough and can lock it into a driver combo.
Only other notable chip, which is also immediately post-Chapter 5, is Mirror Matter. Drops from certain enemies in the ~50s, It's a weaker version of the postgame Moon Matter chip; unlike that chip it does have secondary effects, but more importantly it has good damage and gives the second highest crit rate in the game, which is great for anything crit-synergy strategies like Mythra + Headbands.
Postgame, you mostly use Mirror Matter or the high level 'filler' chips until you can transition to the various superboss chips. Pentagon is a touch overrated and not worth farming for IMO, but it does have uses for stacking agility on Katanas even in the postgame.
It's generally important to ensure you're at least kitted out with other good stuff, e.g. things like the various tiers of eyepatches and headbands for damage boosting accessories, or Affinity Max Attack as a damage boosting Aux Core. The core chip is critical, but the right boosts top of that can easily more than double your damage.

So I played this game on the switch 1 years ago. And recently got switch 2, and wanted to play again. But when I logged into my save file of 155hours, my Rex level is 10 with 3million gold on the account. What happened? I remember playing quite a bit

perhaps you started a ng+ and leveled down rex before you stopped playing.
