Educational Rant/Vent Post The much needed post educating y'all on intersex people

Alright, we decided to finally make a post on this issue, since it's gone unchecked for way too long. What issue? A lot of y'all in this sub are extremely fucking confident about spreading misinformation about intersex people, and we're fucking sick of it just being accepted and never corrected. "Oh but why don't you correct them then" because it's so fucking common, and I don't have the time to educate every single person on this subreddit, nor is it our duty to do so. Not to mention, the hate one often receives when making corrections. So, we decided to make a post to hopefully educate most of the people here at the same time. These are in no particular order. 1. To start, since a lot of y'all don't seem to even know what an intersex person is, an intersex person is a person who's natal sexual characteristics (chromosomes, genitals, sexual organs, hormones, ect...) fall outside the typical male/female binary, which means this is how their body naturally develops without outside factors interfering. That's it. Perisex refers to non-intersex people, it is not a slur, just like cisgender isn't one. 2. Next, most intersex people aren't "AXAB" or "AIAB" most intersex people end up either being "AFAB" or "AMAB." Using this point to also point out that there is no "AFAB/AMAB anatomy" not only does that ignore intersex people that were forced into these categories, it also ignores the fact that some people transition, or otherwise alter their body. Also, these acronyms refer to a past event, so past tense should be used when talking about these. It's also "people ASAB" not "ASAB people." The last two are pure grammatical nitpicks, but we don't care, taking the opportunity to point that out as well. 3. A lot of intersex people are put through non-consensual medical interventions by doctors to make them fit the category doctors decided to put them in. These non-consensual acts aren't us being 'lucky' they're acts of violence and it's about time some of y'all stop fetishisinzing it. 4. You do not need a diagnosis to be intersex, holy shit a lot of y'all are hypocritical on this one. You can't both be pro self-diagnosis and then turn around and say intersex people need a diagnosis to be valid. Not only do we often face a lot of medical abuse due to being intersex as mentionned above, but doctors also love to gaslight people into believing they're not actually intersex when they are. Not to mention, doctors often go out of their way to hide the intersex variations from the intersex person. And that's still not the end of it! At the end of the day, if you genuinely believe you have an intersex variation, you can say you are intersex! And it's up to you whether you want to try your luck with doctors to get it diagnosed if you want (if there's even a diagnosis for your variation!) 5. Intersex people isn't "biologically nonbinary" and everytime you call an intersex animal "biologically nonbinary" you contribute to our erasure, even if unvolontary. Also, 'hermaphrodite' is a slur so stop using it??? No it's not okay to use it for animals either. There's plenty of other words that can be used instead. Here's a diagram that was shared by bigfatalligator in the comments of words you should use instead, depending on the context of the species. 6. Kinda following the last point, but a whole species cannot be intersex, being intersex is having sexual characteristics that are outside of the binary that's established for the species, so if the whole species has those sexual characteristics, it's not intersex. Which also means characters from such species aren't intersex representation either. 7. Intersex people can be cisgender, transgender, neither or both. We can also be nonbinary. We can be any gender, or even none. Not sure why some people still think we all must be x or y. Also just because an intersex person is nonbinary, doesn't make them cisgender. Can an intersex nonbinary person identify as cisgender? Yes, so can a perisex nonbinary person. Can an intersex nonbinary person identify otherwise? Also yes, and so can perisex nonbinary folks! 8. No your headmate isn't intersex if you're bodily perisex, and cannot reclaim the intersex slurs if you're bodily perisex. There's other words to describe this, such as 'innosex' but intersex refers to the outerworld body, and isn't to be used if you're not bodily intersex. 9. You cannot transition to being intersex. Intersex is something you are born as, and is the way your body naturally develops. Not only that, but it implies intersex people who were forced into non-consensual medical interventions were 'transitioned to being perisex' and no longer intersex, which is a harmful way of thinking. Please use other labels such as 'altersex.' 10. Y'all need to stop using intersex-exclusive labels if you're you're perisex. Not even going to elaborate, this one should be obvious. Same goes for intersex symbols, it's very frequent for us to find intersex symbols used to represent nonbinary people instead. Stop that. 11. It's very obvious when you make a post about something without considering for even 5 seconds intersex people and their experiences. It's also very disheartening to see, because we get excluded from/ignored in queer conversations constantly. Just because we often don't bring it up due to fear of backlash doesn't mean we don't notice it when you exclude us. 12. Probably said it already but saying it again for good mesure, intersex ≠ nonbinary. Sex ≠ Gender, and we're honestly not sure how y'all can agree with the later but not the former. 13. We can agree that asking a trans person for their genitals or what medical procedures they've had is very inappropriate and invasive, right? Then why do some of y'all think it's appropriate to ask random intersex people about their genitals or variation(s)? It's just as inappropriate, and we see a lot of people being hypocritical on this. There's probably more we could add on, but writing this post was exhausting, and it's so long already, so we'll stop it right there.

Looking for Term Gender terms that imply using any pronouns?

I know pronouns =/= gender but I'm really struggling to find a way to describe what I mean without framing it in terms of what pronouns/gendered terms I want people to use for me so bear with me

Basically I'm cool with people using any pronouns or gendered terms for me, but in a way that isn't multigender nor "I don't care" but a secret third thing. So far the best way I can think of to describe it is that I COULD be anything but it doesn't necessarily mean I AM anything in particular. Like you could call me a man or woman or nonbinary or anything else without being wrong, but also without me actually actively identifying with any of those. Anything, but not everything. Also for what it's worth I'm certain I fall under the kenochoric umbrella but I suppose that's secondary since I can always slap that on as a modifier to something else

Again I know that I can just find something that amounts to meaning "idk" and also use any pronouns but I've found that nothing feels right unless it actively suggests that even binary gendered terms can still apply to me

Question Post 4 hopefully simple requests: JesterHearted, ClownHearted, MimeHearted, and TricksterHearted flags.

Upvotes

Please don't forget the OtherHearted symbol.

Please and thank you.

You don't need to do the Trickster one if you don't want to.

Idk if this fits here but ik a lot of ppl here use this so worth a shot.

These are both made by me but idk why my personal one is vertical and only shows one flag per row?? I thought it might've been the borders so i added them to mine but it didnt change anything. I prefer it to be like the second but i dont know why it's even different in the first place

General Post starspecfluid flag stripe meaning tiny correction

Post image

Hi! I just realized there was a small error with the starspecfluid flag meanings, so here's the corrected one. In the original, the second white stripe was "genders that feel pure and/or light" a second time instead of "masculine-aligned genders".

Question Post Would this be another definition, or am I misinterpreting something?

So, is Omni-Lesbian (and other mspec-lesbian terms) just having omni + lesbian attraction in whatever form?

So I have Omni-Ficto attraction but exclusively lesbian attraction to real-life people. Would this count as Omni-Lesbian?

Like, I'm really confused. I am attracted to all genders in fiction, but I mainly like males; in real life, my attraction is exclusively to non-male genders. I've tried to be attracted to male genders; I really have, but I just can't do it.

Looking for Term Being able to choose your gender?

We have a headmate that doesn’t experience gender in any concrete sense, but is able to temporarily choose and experience a given gender if they want. Any suggestions for terms?

Looking for Term Label finding help

Not xenogender or gender related, but not really sure where else to ask.

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a label for someone who can't experience any 'new' attraction and can only experience already existing attraction?

for context I used to be light grey platonic (greyplatonic but like, closer to the alloplatonic end of the spectrum), so I COULD experience platonic attraction and create platonic bonds semi-easily, however, I have since become almost 100% aplatonic - save for two people.
these two people are people I've already been friends with for six and sixteen-ish years, my platonic attraction/friendship(s) with these people have already been there for a long time, prior to becoming aplatonic, so that attraction still exists - I, however, cannot experience 'new' platonic attraction or create any new bonds. I completely lack the desire for platonic interactions/connections/relationships outside of these two people. I am 100% aplatonic outside of these two already existing bonds. the only platonic attraction I feel/can feel is regarding these two Already Existing bonds and outside of that I can't experience platonic attraction anymore.

ANYWAYS. again. wondering if theres a label for this. if the label doesn't exist specifically for platonic attraction but exists for other attraction types (ace spec, aro spec, etc) those can be shared too ! I can just create an aplatonic variant.

Rant/Vent Post Ugh why is it so hard for people to understand?!

So basically, I gave my mom a name choice i prefer. It's a nickname that comes from my real name, since i do not like the nickname she calls me. SHE REFUSES to even try to use it! The nickname IS LITERALLY IN MY FIRST NAME! it's so frustrating to me. Like i don't understand! And then she's all "but I've been calling you that for years" the how come other parents who are supportive STILL TRY!? AT LEAST TRY! If you try, you might get used to it! Ugh it just bothers me so much! And like, similar story to pronouns. If someone calls a dog/cat/pet the wrong pronouns and you correct them, THEY USE THE RIGHT PRONOUNS! SO WHY CAN'T PARENTS USE THE CHOSEN NAMES/PRONOUNS ON US?! (i haven't changed my pronouns in front of her, only name. But you get the point)

Non-Xeno Coining Multi-spacio bigender

credit to u/Fall_cat14 for the name! I decided to change the definition a bit to be more general.

A bigender and genderfluid identity that feels layered. Where on the base level, one is bigender, but simultaneously genderfluid, where gender changes at any pace, but they are always bigender the same way underneath.

It’s kind of hard to explain what it means, basically imagine two layers of gender, one is always bigender the same way (for me it’s male/female), and then in a way that feels completely separate, there’s another layer that is fluid.

Coined by u/Fall_cat14 and I

^above is an about me I made for my tumblr ^_^ (drawing is not a sona, that’s what I look like!!)

Some information here may be kind of repeats of things already in the image.

My name is Linden, or Linz! I’ve been on this sub for about 5 years, though I used a different account for most of that time.

I am a MINOR‼️‼️

Pronouns: fluid, but I am almost always okay with ne/nim/he/they/it (in order of preference)

I LOVEEEE hoarding xenogenders and neopronouns to use, specifically relating to horror, bugs, cute/creepy, gore, dogs, and the concept of unholiness.

Gender (simplified): bigender (male/female), genderfluid, transmasc, paradoxigender (feeling fully multiple genders at the same time, as in I’m fully male, fully female, and a mix of both all simultaneously), xenogender hoarder

Orientation (simplified): aroaceflux, nebularomantic, queerplatonic (I recently got a partner!!!! Yippee!!), panalterous

—> Small fun fact: my partner calls me “Zucchini” and “Dishes” because of inside jokes me have

Disability-wise, I’m auDHD and S-OCD, I also have Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) and Anosmia (born with no sense of smell), and I have an uneven hip bone that makes it hard to stretch my back or bend down to pick things up.

I am a therian and otherkin!! Here are my (main) kins:

  1. Tatzelwurm (mythological cat/snake/dragon hybrid)
  2. Wölpertinger (mythological bunny/deer/bird)
  3. Caracal
  4. Maned wolf
  5. Peppered moth
  6. Hellhound
  7. Horror Angel
  8. Cute Horror (conceptkin)
  9. Pink (conceptkin)

I’m also otherhearted:

  1. Orange hearted
  2. Squirrel hearted
  3. Spiritual viotihearted (a spiritual connection to all living beings)

Some of my interests include:

—Carnivorous plants
—Anthropology
—Psychology
—Genetics
—Character design theory
—Color theory

Nice to meet you all!

Introduction Post I've seen a few introductions lately, so here's mine!

Hi! My name is Kim, and I have been really into designing flags lately. I'm cloudskyrollic (a term I coined), meaning that my gender is connected to the sky, clouds, the color light blue, and the character Cinnamoroll :) I'm also bold stripe aroace, so I don't feel any romantic or sexual attraction under any circumstances. I use zey/she/cloud/sun pronouns, and lately cloud/clouds have been my favorite, so I might reorder them. Cinnamoroll is my special interest and I have a huge collection of plushies and other Cinna things! This community is very accepting and kind, and I've really enjoyed my time here so far :) /g

Aster-euphoric / cosmo-euphoric

A gender that is heightened and/or euphoric when observing space, this can describe how a gender behaves or be a specific gender itself.  This label highlights the ‘heightened’ aspect and isn’t just a gender related to space

Flags 1 and 2 have different corner symbols, flag 3 is a simplified version, and flag 4 and 5 are striped versions

First proper xenogender coining yay!! Usually i make aphorian or outherine stuff but i wanted to make this for a character :D

Introduction Post i've posted a bit today so i think i should do an intro

hi! you might've seen a couple of my post/comments today, so i thought i would introduce myself

you can call me krownivero/krow/eden (pronounced eh-dehn)

i really don't care what pronouns you use for me as long as they arent she/her, as if i were to list my full pronouns it would take too long T.T. but you can default to he/him (i will always accept those). i'm a transmasc person, and i'm genderfluid. usually shifting between nonbinary, masc, and xenine genders.i'm gay (ish). if you saw my post from earlier, you know a bit more about that

js a bit of what i like: dead poets society, music, mlp, and heated rivalry. i also like marauders, but i don't purchase anything harry potter related, nor do i like or support jk's beliefs (unless the mold in my house takes me over). i js like the idea of gay wizards from the 1970s. i'm also eclectic wiccan, but that's js an extra fun tidbit
