Question Size
I want to get a new bike and one of my options is the yamaha r9 2026. I am scared however, that I am too tall (1.88m) to really experience the bike. Can anyone on the taller side with experience give me their personal oppinion?

Im 6'6(1.98m) and ride my 2026 R9 comfortably. Did 250 miles(402km) yesterday straight with no problem. Get the R9 man. I have a Road glide, Tenere 700, and a DRZ4S. Ive ridden an S1K, a couple aprilias, 636, and I would pick the R9 before those any day. One of my favorite bikes ive ever owned. I also rode those bikes before buying the R9. So unbiased in a way.

Quite sure that the R9 is considerably more expensive than the dinosaur

I am 193cm and have been loving this bike, one of the more comfortable ones ive ridden. Its big enough that I can full tuck without my knees being in my shoulders and gives plenty of room for leaning on each side. For casual riding you can get a fairly upright position depeding on your wingspan without reaching for it.

The r1 would cost too much for insurance. I am an apprentice right now, so I can not afford that much.

I’m 194cm and I have one. In the past I’ve had an R6 and a GSXR-750 and then I took a break from super sports and went to a Z900.
When the R9 came out I thought “this is my last chance at another super sport” so I made the switch.
I’m not gonna lie. After years on a naked it was quite the shock to the system to get back on a super sport and let’s be honest, they’re not designed for comfort even if you’re the size of Marc Marquez. But do I enjoy the bike? Yes, 100%. I love it! I’ve had it for a year and am very very happy.
My daily commute is about 40 minutes each way which I use the bike for 3 times a week. I also try for one track day a year and other than track days where you’re physically pushing hard I never get off the bike feeling sore.
At 40 years old though I imagine in the coming decade I’ll switch back to something like an MT-09.
Now would you enjoy it as a taller rider if you’re doing longer commutes or you’re a club racer etc? Hard to say as I’m just a chump rider.
But I feel it’s about as good as it gets for us tall guys. To give a comparison, I rode an R1M side by side with my R9 and the R1 was only ever so slightly bigger/more comfortable.
I haven’t ridden all that’s out there but I’ve been told that the Ducati’s and BMWs are the most comfortable for taller riders but a Panigale or S1000 weren’t in my budget.
If budget is a limiting factor or you don’t want a 1000 then I think you’ll be very happy.
TLDR - I’m 194cm and don’t have any issues but if you’re really worried get an MT-09 instead.
