I’m looking for people who have actually built a noticeable amount of muscle/changed their physique using purely bodyweight calisthenics.
By purely calisthenics, I mean:
No barbells
No dumbbells
No gym machines
No weighted pull-ups/dips
No weighted vest/backpack
No “weighted calisthenics”
Ideally just bodyweight exercises + a pull-up bar
I’m not really looking for people who just lost weight and became leaner. I’m specifically interested in people who actually gained muscle and developed their physique through bodyweight training.
If you’ve done this, I’d really appreciate it if you could share:
How long you’ve been training
What exercises/workout routine you used
How often you trained
What your physique was like when you started vs now
Whether you were able to progressively make the exercises
I’m asking because most of the “calisthenics transformations” I find online eventually turn out to involve weights, weighted calisthenics, rings, dip bars, or other equipment, so I’d like to hear from someone who actually did it with a setup that’s realistically available to someone here in Zambia.
If you’ve done pure calisthenics and actually built muscle, I’d love to hear about your experience.

And before the gender-war Olympics begin: I'm not claiming it is a better deal for women - they get absolutely screwed by marriage too. I'm specifically questioning what men are expected to put into the institution versus what they can realistically get out of it.

A Zambian man can be expected to pay lobola, provide the home, support his wife and children, help with extended family, remain monogamous and carry most of the financial responsibility.

Then the marriage ends and suddenly you're potentially dealing with property adjustment, maintenance and child support, while probably seeing your children less.

The law is only gender-neutral on paper. In practice, everyone knows who is usually regarded as the default parent of young children. And the Children's Code actually tells courts to consider things including the child's customs, religion, circumstances and the parent who has had care of the child.

I know a man personally who inherited his family home, got married, divorced, and ultimately lost the house through the matrimonial-property dispute. His ex-wife now lives there with another man who leeches off her.

Imagine losing the house your own family left you because of a marriage that didn't survive, then watching another dude occupy it afterwards for free.

Aside from that.....there's maintenance.

We've spent years telling women, quite rightly, “You don't need a man to financially support you.”

Ok cool. But our marriage system can still impose financial obligations on one spouse towards the other after the relationship has ended. The Matrimonial Causes Act explicitly allows maintenance orders based on income, earning capacity, financial resources, needs, responsibilities, standard of living and contributions to the family. It can also allow property to be transferred from one spouse to the other. We all know which gender this disproportionately affects negatively.

And yes, unpaid childcare and homemaking are real contributions. I wouldn't argue otherwise.

But I'm asking why we're simultaneously promoting female financial independence while retaining a marriage model where male financial responsibility can survive the marriage itself.

Apparently equality has a caveat....

Then there's the male side of the social ledger that rarely gets mentioned.

Men die younger. Men have dramatically higher suicide rates. Men are expected to be providers, protectors and financial shock absorbers, while being culturally discouraged from admitting they're struggling.

“Man up” is still basically our cheapest mental-health intervention.

And the timeline we're expecting people to follow is fucking bizarre.

Human beings become reproductively capable during adolescence.

We're absolutely right to say: don't marry teenagers, don't have children as teenagers, finish school and develop some bloody judgement first.

But modern adulthood takes forever.

School → university/training → internships → employment → financial stability → housing → relationship → lobola → wedding → children.

By the time you've ticked all the boxes, you're potentially well into your late twenties or thirties and balding.

Meanwhile your reproductive biology started the countdown somewhere around secondary school.

Religion says don't have sex before marriage.

Modern society says you're not remotely ready for marriage yet.

Education says stay in school.

The economy says get a job first.

Biology says hello....

And no, I'm obviously not arguing for teenage marriage. I'm pointing out that our biological, economic, educational, religious and social timelines no longer line up.

Then we take this already dysfunctional timeline and add:

• traditional male-provider expectations;
• lobola;
• extended-family obligations;
• monogamy;
• modern expectations of gender equality;
• two-career households;
• individual autonomy;
• divorce;
• custody disputes;
• maintenance;
• and the expectation that everyone should somehow remain financially independent.

We've basically taken a traditional marriage system, bolted modern gender politics onto it and told men:

“You still need to be the provider, but don't expect traditional privileges in return.”

And then we're surprised when some men look at the deal and say:

“Wait... what exactly am I signing up for”

So yeah....I'm not arguing that men should abandon marriage.

But it's probably worth considering if we need to modernise the obligations as well as the freedoms.

Because you can't keep the traditional responsibilities when they're convenient and the modern freedoms when they're convenient, then call the result a balanced institution.

At some point somebody has to admit that the marriage contract and the society surrounding it haven't caught up with each other.

Was in kabulonga some time last week just cycling around and i saw an older man pull out of his yard in a bentley ,rolled the window down and threw his trash out the window onto the street.
I understand that this behavior is not reserved for anyone regardless of their car model but damn,it was just crazy to see a fancy dude in a bentley do that.

President Hakainde Hichilema has been sworn in for a second term as Zambia’s president following his victory in disputed elections.

As Hichilema was inaugurated at the National Heroes Stadium in the Zambian capital Lusaka on Tuesday, his main rival in last month’s election was in detention, accused of treason as allegations of vote rigging persisted.

The day after the August 13 election that secured a second term for Hichilema, police raided the home of runner-up Brian Mundubile, during which a former cabinet member was shot and killed.

Mundubile and his running mate Makebi Zulu were arrested on Thursday charged with treason, after spending two weeks seeking refuge with an international human rights organisation.

Police have not provided details of the allegations underpinning the charges. Both deny any wrongdoing.

I have been struggling to find a house to rent in Avondale / Chelston area. is it that my budget is too low? I set my original budget to be between K3500 to K4500 for a two bedroom house nothing too fancy for my sister and me. Please let me know your experience with finding a house in those area and if i have to adjust my budget.

lmao I went to hungry lion and found this lady waiting at the pick up desk. My order was number 530 and hers was number 509. People with higher numbers than her kept coming in and collecting their food while she stood there and caused a scene screaming at the guy calling out the numbers 'CAN YOU GIVE ME MY FOOD , I ALSO WANT TO GO AND MAKE MONEY LIKE YOU ARE DOING HERE' 'THIS IS NONSENSE, PEOPLE WITH HIGHER NUMBERS CAN'T BE GETTING THEIR FOOD BEFORE ME' and she pulled the classic 'CAN I SPEAK TO THE MANAGER'. The look on all the workers faces was just a strong 'i don't get paid enough for this bs' .The numbers are not necessarily in ascending order. It does'nt mean if your number is 1 then you should get your food before number 3. It depends on how easy and fast the food is to make.
