Carnotaurus is the next dinosaur to be revealed for Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game - Dinosaur Digs!

Carnotaurus, meaning "meat-eating bull" is a large, South American theropod from the Late Cretaceous. It is known from only a single skeleton that is largely complete, only missing most of the tail and the lower legs. The specimen also happens to have well preserved skin impressions, giving us a good look as to what the animal's scales would've looked like in life.

Carnotaurus' tiny arms are highly vestigial, lacking any wrist bones and being immobile. Only the shoulder joint was functional, possibly for courtship displays.

While still on track for a Q4 2026 alpha, progress has been slow as we rewrote the asset indexing and shader system in August. Looking forward to sharing more details about the alpha soon!

For those who aren't quite sure what OpenZT2 is: a 64-bit engine written in Bevy (Rust language) which is compatible with ZT2 assets and data (user-provided). Our custom-engine will virtually have no limits as to what players and mod developers can do, including features such as enlarged maps, free-driving Jeep vehicles and more to be announced at launch.

If Zoo Tycoon 2 Dino Danger Pack were to be an expansion pack with about 20 animals, here would be my picks.

To make playing the game more fun I installed tons of mods and continued my 14-years old journey to finish all of the scenarios.

I don't know why, but in Island Research Lab scenario I coudn't achieve the average guests hapiness more than 74. I tried to build restaurants and enterteinments as many as I could fit into. Also I tried to plan exibits in places where guests could see them from almost every corner of the zoo.

I have the impression that the guests did not see the animals even when they walked along the main avenue. Saber-toothed tigers exhibit that is next to the entrance wasn't popular at all. It got barely one star of popularity. The same was with Iguanodon's exibit that is on the other side of the entrance.

I sent an email requesting an account and I've gotten radio silence. I don't have a Facebook so I can't DM the group there. Is there any other way or do I just have to continue waiting and praying? I love modded ZT1 but it seems like most mods are locked on this exclusive website most people can't access 😢

Celebrating my 30's with a nostalgic trip to ZT and hoping to grab some new buildings & decorations :') (which if anyone has any that they love, please lmk!)

I have tried several sandbox zoos but they always crash on the same month of the same year and the data gets corrupted. I have heard others had this issue as well. Are there any fixes? Does challenge mode also have this issue?

For some reason the ones that are there don't work for me.

This little Sauropodomorph is from the Late Triassic and was found in Argentina. Eoraptor was first described in 1993 with a nearly complete, well preserved skeleton.

Unlike true Sauropods, it is believed that Eoraptor had an omnivorous diet.

My screen doesn't maximize when the game is running on my macbook, any quick fixes to play in full screen?

Y'know, I wish the guests wouldn't be scared if peafowl are outside of their enclosures, as zoos always have peafowl outside and walking.

Also, I call it 'peafowl', because peafowls is wrong.

I was HUGE fan of ZT2 in my childhood. It was 1st game ever played (got it from my mum because I was dino kid… and yeah, I learned what DLC means in hard way)

Anyway, after many years I tried to play PZ and… it wasn’t the same. ZT2 has some live in it, while PZ is more about decorating the buildings and puzzling tiles in your guest center…

Ofc, it is 20 yo game, it has its limitations, but playability and funability is bigger in ZT2 imo

Quería regresar a Zoo Tycoon 2 pero recuerdo una serie de cosas que me molestaban, quisiera saber si hay formas de solucionarlo con mods

- Diseño de animales: recuerdo que muchos tenían diseños terribles a mi parecer, y me interesa saber si hay mod que permitan un diseño más realista y mejor calidad

- Animales y objetos se salen de su habitad: de la nada los animales se salían de su habitad o pillaba algún objeto, como una pelota, fuera. Sin importar que el habitad fuera grande y espaciosa.

- Visitantes huían sin razón: escapaban de animales que estaban en su habitad

- Guardianes no podían limpiar excremento: recibía muchos mensajes muy molestos de que los guardias no podían alcanzar el excremento de los animales.

- Zoológico sucio: por más basureros que pusiera la gente tiraba cosas al piso y los encargados no limpiaban, o trabajaban a un ritmo muy lento.

This small dinosaur is a sauropodomorph from the Late Triassic and is known from a nearly complete skeleton. It is one of Africa's earliest known dinosaurs and was discovered in 2017, and described in 2022.

Short answer: a lot of things like simplicity, a particular charm, a lot of variety (though for ZT2 you'll need some mods), and etc

Long answer

Besides the previously mentioned I feel like I have way more fun in general

I don't mind the massive decorating aspect much (I prefer more simple decorating) in Planet Zoo but I always feel like something is missing and I didn't liked how unoptimized it felt at times and with a sequel around the corner I fear it will be even worse (especially with my current rig) but maybe one day I'll get to it but either way it's still a good game just not for me

Besides that ever since discovering the modding communities for ZT1-ZT2 it reignited my old love for the series, I've been window shopping mods as of this post most I got so far is OpenZT and can't wait for the mod launcher to arrive soon alongside OpenZT2

Can't wait to make some fun zoos across both games!

I recently upgraded my MacBook to a 2026 model, and Zoo Tycoon no longer works for me. I've deleted and redownloaded it from the usual site and followed all the steps that I used to, and no dice. I always get stuck on the "insert CD-ROM" screen. I'm using Tahoe OS. It used to run perfectly on my old 2015 MacBook. Does anyone know of a solution, or am I completely out of luck?
