Missouris SB 907 just took effect, giving businesses a 90 day grace period to fix web accessibility violations before a lawsuit can proceed, and letting them countersue "abusive" plaintiffs. Disability advocates say a blind or deaf user still can't use a checkout page for those 90 days, burdening the end users while a fix in implemented. Any litigation that proceeds after the 90 day window will set precedent for future cases, which I think could be good or ill depending on the original violation reported, people affected, or other factors that may not have been considered when drafting the law.

I have heard that 3 Hz is the lowest recorded case of an epileptic seizure caused by flashing lights, however I don't actually know what that means. For example, a light that turns on, wait one second then turns off, and waits another second. is that one HZ or am I getting it wrong?

I am curious about testing PDFs for accessibility. I have been in this work for a few years.

I am not a professional, just someone who wants to try to help make the groups I belong to more accessible for everyone.

In testing PDFs I will find a few errors in the the PDF tools I use, THEN if I convert the PDF to a Word doc I find just a plethora of issues that were not shown in the PDF testing tool.

For some of these errors, I wonder if some of the issues are rooted in the converstion process. ( some font and formatting sorts of things ) .

For instance, I am working on one document that has Footnotes that appear not to have been formatted correctly they get flagged as Pseudo Footnotes.. and should be inserted in the footers. or addressed in a different manner.

I am just curious what sorts of challenges some of you may have encountered in your efforts at remediation specifically in documents ?

Got kind of obsessed with this topic recently after realizing how inconsistent

Accessibility features are across platforms that supposedly follow the same

standards. Went through a bunch of them just to see what's actually offered

versus what's just there for show. Turns out most platforms stop at the surface level. Font size, contrast, dark

mode, done. But things that actually change how usable something is, like

adjustable spacing, cursor visibility, or being able to pause moving content, are

inconsistent at best and completely missing at worst.

What's weird is how little customization overlap there is. Like you can adjust

font size OR contrast, but rarely both together in a way that feels intentional.

Feels like most of these panels were built feature-by-feature without anyone

testing the combined experience.

Would love to hear if others have noticed similar gaps, or if there's something

out there that's actually doing this well that I might've missed.

I’ve installed the Access8Math plug in for NVDA. The settings for braille are UEB Grade 2 and Nemeth for Math. When I encounter MathML the Nemeth is displayed. However in Word when using the equation editor the math is displayed as primarily words. What setting am I missing? I changed the settings to MathCat in Access8. Thanks!

Hi all

Please remove if this type of post isn't allowed but I need some help finding a solution to this.

I have a telescopic handle for my blinds, the kind that you have to twist to open or close the blinds. The rod is very narrow (about a centimeter) and I have to twist it quite a bit with a decent amount of force to fully open and close the blinds (which I must do twice daily). It's gotten to the point where it's so hard on my wrist that I have to take breaks during opening/closing the blinds!

I've been looking for some kind of attachment, ideally one that fits on the end, that makes it easier to grip. No matter what keywords I use, I'm not able to find anything even remotely similar to what I'm envisioning! Does anyone have any solutions to this?

I am trying to remediate the accessibility of a PDF in Acrobat. Tables are giving me issues. I have a screenshot of an example where there should be a total of 11 cells per row, but only 3 cells are recognized due to lack of lines. Is there a way to fix this en masse rather than creating 8 more Table Data Cells manually and "Creating tag from selection" for each cell?

I have 16 rows left to fix (and a whole other table in the same format), and I want to know if there is a faster way to do it.

Does anyone have experience / advice with using open-source code to create their own pdf remediation tools? I work for a state org with 1000+ pages of pdf's, including fillable forms, to remediate, and I'm trying to determine the best strategy and lowest cost for working through these files before next year's deadline. We have training and strategy in place to improve accessible output for documents in the future, but getting through this backlog will likely be too much for me to handle on my own.

I've been trying to sign the ECI(2026)000011 petition to the European union, and can't sign it, or file a technical issue complaint because the audio captcha is not supported on any of my browsers (brave, duckduck go, Vivaldi, floorp, helium).

Does anyone know who to contact to file a complaint to fix this, or of a browser with secure privacy settings that works for the captcha?

I've been working in accessibility for eight years (two years exclusively) and am a Trusted Tester, but I'm nervous. It's a lot of money!

I am on my 5th attempt and my scores have been 84,82,84, and 82. The passing is 85 and it's been incredibly frustrating. The longer I sit in and analyze each question the more confused I get. The worse thing is that they don't show you what you got wrong and they intentionally make the word choices confusing. I want it so bad but I can't help but feel stupid knowing that I am this close.

One week ago, I demonstrated my testing skills in a (sorta) interview. It was more like demonstrating my skills and how I approach things. The timeline is 5 to 10 business days from what I heard; So 1 to 2 weeks.

I'm hopeful about joining the team, yet also trying to be realistic at the same time. I'm curious about what it's like to work with them. Does anybody have stories/some other kind of input to give me an idea?

I wanna clarify that I currently don't have an official diagnosis with what I have except that what I'm experiencing is extreme bilateral pain in both wrists and hands. My doctor suspects either carpal tunnel or arthritis.

I've recently started school, and I've been very concerned that I may have to drop out considering most of my work is either written assignments or assignments that involve typing and dragging a mouse on the computer. I'm working with the disability office at my university, and they haven't been giving me very many options besides voice to text and extended time on test and quizzes. Although I have a note from my doctor that says I might need more time writing or typing, I was told by my disability office that they apparently don't offer extended time on assignments because it “alters the course.”

I've researched a couple tools, and I know that there are a few keyboards and mice for people with carpal tunnel. However, the pain is not only in my wrist but in the joints in my fingers and all throughout my hand. Because of this, any clicking whatsoever or pinching or honestly any movement in my hands at all is very painful.

Are there any tools out there that limit the amount of clicking, dragging, typing as much as possible? I use voice to text on my phone as well as my laptop, and I also have voice control on my phone and laptop which allows me to call out a number on the grid to click the screen for me. However, this is extremely time-consuming, and it is not the greatest technology in my opinion. I've heard of footpedals, but that doesn't seem like it would help me with the dragging part on a mouse but only the clicking. I've been trying to find a mouse that you can use exclusively with your foot, but I haven't been able to find one online.

EDIT: I also forgot to mention that I am a music major, and I take music theory, which I am required to notate music on paper with a pencil. Writing in music notes on a tiny little staff is very strenuous on my fine motor skills. Are there any devices that can sort of hold a pencil for you that you can wear on your hand?

Okay so my university just rolled out new accessibility rules. Every digital doc has to hit WCAG 2.1 AA now.

It feels like accessible document compliance and the homogenization of design go hand in hand. Once I make everything compliant, all my materials end up looking the same (unfortunately).

Like the same fonts, same layout, same everything.

So has anyone figured out a way around this?

I've heard Venngage might work for this kind of thing, but I haven't tested it on academic stuff yet. Curious if anyone here has.
