Hey everyone, Luke from Adobe here.
I’ve been on the road at a few design events recently, and one thing I always come away realizing is just how many useful tools and workflows people either don’t know about or simply haven’t gotten around to trying.
So I wanted to throw the question out to everyone here: what’s a tool, feature, or workflow that’s become pivotal to the way you work, but you still think is underrated or overlooked?
Could be something incredibly simple, a feature that’s been around forever, or a workflow you’ve figured out that you think more people could benefit from.
Interested to hear what everyone’s got.

I (20) am a college student majoring in art and design. One of my classes this semester is computer graphics, which is a course focused on using Photoshop, Illustrator, and other Adobe products. Today, my instructor taught us (the class) how to vectorize an image of a hedgehog. Once it was vectorized, she had us use the direct select tool, select a part of the hedgehog’s face, then copy and paste it on another part of the image. After that, she had us select the nose and change its color. I ended up selecting the right eye of the hedgehog and creating this. His name is Tigger and I will be drawing him.

I've been handed someone else's quite messy project after they have left our company.
Its a series of maps on signs.
Theres a bunch of info and setting I dont want to mess with but I need to re add all the maps again as there were spelling mistakes and the wrong maps. The spacing is really precise so I wanted to make rectangles and then place the maps in the rectangle so they are all the same.
The issue is the artboards for the vector map files are 2.4x smaller than the rectangle I need them to occupy. I need the size of the fonts to stay the same so I can't resize the original artwork without redoing all 36 maps what would be lovey is for the linked file to automatically fit to the size of the rectangle in the final document without doing it manually because then it's not tidy/ straight/lined up. Is there a function like in indesign that expands the placed image to the size of the box. I dont want to use clipping masks because they seem to cause problems with the printers and I really want to avoid messing about by hand and causing errors.
Any advice appreciated. :)

I mainly work on my desktop PC and use laptop in studio. Today I opened my AI file in studio on my laptop that was originally created on the desktop, and all the swatches were gone and areas filled with pattern I made were empty. I even saved swatches to my SSD by clicking Save swatches, but those saved swatches were also empty(white tiles). Why is this happening? Is there a correct way to save the swatches?
I'm getting a message that this might be against the rule to post this here. I am not sure if this is a technical error or just my improcifiency so I will delete it if anything is wrong
Thank you in advance

So suddenly out of the blue, exporting to PDF is now f#cking everything up.
I have 120 cards in illustrator each on its own artboard.
When exporting to PDF, it now suddenly makes all image low res and at the same time shrink each cards by 65.5% I have done nothing different that I use to do. All settings in the export dialog are the same as I usually use. It also makes the trim marks huge for some reason.
I'm using High Quality Print and Acrobat 8 compatibility.
All compressions are the standard ones.
HELP....

I have a photoshop image, 240ppi. I need to place it on a canvas 6000x3000mm
When I place it in Illustrator it automatically becomes 32-40ppi
How do I import the image without losing resolution?

When drag-creating a new artboard, is there a way to snap the position to be on pixel boundaries?
My method is to always do this after the fact by selecting x position and then y position and holding shift and pressing the up arrow in each of the fields.
Hoping there's a quicker way.

I am constantly scaling objects using the transform panel and if my mouse gets within a pixel of the turntable button it shows a popup about it and it takes my curser out of the text box so I have to click it a second time to edit the value. Happens to me a dozen times a day, so incredibly frustrating.
And no I cannot turn off tool tips because then it doesn't show swatch names when I hover on them.

I need to make an information-dense poster from a spreadsheet (see example image). It will have approx 8 columns and 10 rows, with paragraph or bulleted text in most boxes. This is kind of a nightmare project for me in Illustrator.
This seems like a project that AI could help accelerate. Even just getting all the text staged in Illustrator would be a start. My experiments with Illustrator's AI capabilities are yet to yield anything with editable text (e.g., sketch to design).
I'm open to doing this in InDesign instead, although when I'm on the bubble between the two I usually choose Illustrator because I find it a bit easier to navigate.
Is anyone successfully using AI to do design tasks like this? If this couldn't be done using Adobe tooling, maybe with Claude Design or Cowork?

Hi, I am trying to edit the equal-earth map projection. the creators of the map have graciously provided an illustrator file for this very use case.
After I made my edits, whicheven export configuration I choose I always end up with a file that either has different colors to the original, is way larger in filesize than the original or has lower quality.
I am not sure how I should export it. the reason I chose 350 DPI is because that's what the author claims they used on their website.
You can find both the illustrator file I used and the original JPG file I am comparing against on their website, if you find a configuration that returns the same quality and color grading let me know!

Hi, a year ago I bought a PC with these specs:
I've kept using my old PC running Illustrator 2018, and now I want to switch to the new one. The problem is that I'm not sure which older version of Illustrator to install. I assume I shouldn't go with the latest one, but I don't know which version is best—even though my PC is brand new, I don't want to strain it because of Illustrator's AI features (I've read they cause a lot of lag, high resource usage, etc.).

My first thought was starting in rhino or blender, but I was wondering if this could all be done in AI. Thanks!

I have created a Skull with SVG. Filled the inside with White and am trying to move it down the page and it's now like this.
I would be most grateful if anyone could tell me how the hell I get out of this situation. I don't seem to be able to separate the several parts of this drawing and if I move the Skull what's around it (A Gravestone) moves too.
Many Thanks to anyone who can help me with this. Bill
