EDIT 7/10/19: This post is wildly outdated. If anyone wants to take it on themselves to compile a new one, I'll sticky it.
EDIT 3/18/2026: Nearly a decade old post now. A lot has happened/been developed in Alpharetta. Again, if someone would like to make an updated post, I'd be happy to sticky it.
We get a lot of folks looking to move to Alpharetta posting questions or newly-moved people who don't know what to do here, so I figured I could make it easier! I didn't vet any of these links for quality of responses, so feel free to post any of these questions again tailored to your personal needs! And if you have suggestions on any of these topics, don't be afraid to comment below.
I looked back to the last 12 months only. If anyone finds an older post they find useful, feel free to suggest it for the list.

🦄Unicorn Husky Alert!🦄
Meet FCAS Project Pat! Mr. Pat is a 3 yr old, 50lb Husky whose cooler than a polar bear’s toenails…seriously, this is one chill dude. ❄️ He’s not your stereotypical crazy Husky and shelter volunteers agree that he’s got an excellent temperament and personality. 🫶🏼
Pat was an owner surrender due to no fault of his own (they reportedly didn’t have time for him) and has been in the shelter since 7/20. He can be a bit cautious and nervous initially, but warms up quickly with a bit of patience and kindness. Once you gain his trust, he melts into you for affection and just wants to hang out wherever his people are. He has a stoic presence and has been a polite, quiet houseguest. ☺️
🐾 Dog friendly
👧 Kid friendly
✅ 100% potty trained
👟 Leash trained
😇 Non-destructive
🚗 Excellent passenger in the car
😴 LOVES being brushed…he zens out
🖐️ Easily handled
🎾 Non-reactive with food/treats/toys
🍖 Takes treats gently
🦴 Loves yak sticks and bully sticks
🧸 Buries his stuffy toys in his bed
💚 Grinch feet
🥹 Crosses his front legs like a gentleman
🐈 No cats, please
🩵 Neutered
📍 Microchipped
💉 UTD on vaccines/preventatives
🫀 Heartworm negative
🍴 Could stand to gain a few healthy lbs
Mr. Pat has been a total gentleman in his foster home and deserves a kind, loving forever home where he can blossom into the confident pup he is outside of the shelter setting. 🏡
📍 Currently being fostered in Kennesaw, GA through Lifeline Animal Project Fulton County Animal Services
Click the link below to fill out the form to contact Pat’s foster mom if you’d like to learn more or meet him! 📲

Hi,
Looking to move to Alpharetta or John’s Creek. Open to Milton, Roswell & Sandy Springs.
Need a safe, clean community, preferably with good management.
Budget is $3,200
3 bedroom, at least 2 bathrooms
Close - ish to 2,000 sqft but no less than 1,600
Small dogs allowed.
Gated community / security.
Dishwasher, in unit laundry, large walk in closets.
High Ceilings in the Living Room is a Plus.
Attached private garage, detached garage, or direct garage access.
If the unit is single story, top floor only (must have elevators).
2 story apartments are okay.
No shotgun apartments.
Please no where with mold/water damage or pest control issues.
Will be planning to live here for 3-5 years prior to purchasing a home.
I’ve personally done a bit of research, however I would like to hear from the locals.
Thank you!!

I have family in the area and am down there often. How is everyone liking it that moved there?
It certainly is beautiful and less expensive than NY. I am just wondering culture wise if there's anything that you had to adjust to?

I’m flying to GA tomorrow from Mississippi for work and will be staying at the Fairfield Marriott in the Avalon Area. What is a good close place with just a very short drive from my hotel where I can drink some drinks and meet some ladies?

Normally I would go to Roswell Auto, but they don't schedule appointments, and I can't leave my car for a day or two. I need two cross-threaded bolts repaired before Costco will install my tires. Is Christian Brothers pretty solid?
UPDATE: Got the bolts fixed today and an oil change. Total was $287 and change. $176 for the bolts.
Got a laundry list of other items including fluid leaks, engine air filter, said I need to replace my thermostat (quoted almost $1k for that), replacing control arm bushings, coolant replacement, more leaks, and rear brake pads.
My husband and father in law have reviewed the pictures and we have personally prioritized the items and I will be having Roswell Auto follow up.
Thanks everyone for the feedback!

I’ve lived in alpharetta for many years and I used to love going to the hotel Avalon bar but lately this pudgy guy with the ponytail who thinks he’s the coolest person and smartest guy ever has an awful attitude. The hotel needs to fire all the bar employees for being absolute trash.
