AA User Interface Android Auto ver17: Automatic dark theme is not working

Hi,

Version 17 of Android Auto appears to have a bug, at least on my car: the maps theme does not switch automatically to dark mode. Reverting to version 16.8 resolves the issue.

Media Apps (audio) Anyone else have an issue with Spotify not displaying all songs within a playlist?

Upvotes

Pretty much the title. I find that when I open a playlist on the Spotify AA app, not all the songs in the playlist will appear. It's pretty annoying when a feature, designed to keep you away from your phone, makes you get it out anyway because I want to listen to a particular song within a playlist.

Any solution here? And I don't really wanna hear anything about using voice commands.

Uncertified AA Hardware (Android HU, CP to AA Dongles, etc) Desync and horrible lag using wireless AA through dongle

So recently my Android Auto has started lagging horribly on the audio, which almost immediately desyncs from whatever is playing (youtube video for example). I have tried multiple modules but the same effect. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere that I've pressed? I've tried multiple dongles, same issue.

Hard-wired AA works fine, but I don't like hanging cables if I can avoid it.

Media Apps (audio) Toyota C-HR: Android Auto via USB + car Bluetooth at the same time?

Hi,

I have a Toyota C-HR and I use Android Auto with my phone connected to the car via USB.

The problem is that as soon as Android Auto connects via USB, the car’s Bluetooth connection is disabled. This means I can no longer use the car’s Bluetooth to listen to music.

What I would like to do is listen to YouTube Music through the Brave browser on my phone, using the car’s Bluetooth connection for the audio.

I don’t have a paid subscription to a music streaming service, so I would like to keep using this solution.

My goal is therefore to have Android Auto connected via USB while keeping the Toyota C-HR’s Bluetooth connection active, so that I can listen to YouTube Music through Brave via Bluetooth.

Is this possible on a Toyota C-HR? Is there a setting I can change on the phone or in the car’s infotainment system to keep Bluetooth active while Android Auto is connected via USB?

P.S. I also tried using a small FM transmitter that plugs into the cigarette lighter. It works, but there is a strange issue: when I lower the volume, the audio source switches and becomes Android Auto radio. I don’t understand why this happens. The only solution I have found so far is to connect a second phone as the audio source.

Ps: I’ve also tried Morphe and Metrolist, but they don’t appear on my car’s Android Auto screen. They only show up on my motorcycle’s Android Auto display.

Sorry for the long post.

Thank you for your help

Google Assistant AndroidAuto suddenly unable to send WhatsApp messages

For about a month now I'm experiencing an issue while driving. Previously I could ask Google Assistant "Hey Google, send a WhatsApp message to..." and it would trigger the start of a new message. It stopped working though and now each time I try I'm getting "Who do you want to message?". Doesn't matter whether I respond with voice or choose one of the options on the screen it just goes over and over again with "Who do you want to message?".

If I change the command to "Hey Google, send an SMS to..." it all works fine. If I am replying to a freshly received WhatsApp message also no problem.

I'm perplexed.

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Android Auto only works with wireless connection, but not via USB

I found lots of questions online where AA works over USB but not wirelessly. My case is the exact opposite: AA works as long as I DON'T connect my device via USB. As soon as I do, the connection breaks and the car UI reverts to the connection screen, which now only offers MirrorLink. As soon as I disconnect USB, I can connect with AA again.

Now you may ask: "If AA works wirelessly, why would you connect it with USB?", to which the answer is: "To charge my phone on a long drive". Currently, I can either charge my phone or use it with AA, and that's annoying.

What I already tried:

  • In the developer settings, change the default USB configuration. Tried both "file transfer" and "only charging", makes no difference.
  • Different cable. Makes no difference.
  • My wife's phone. It works with my wife's phone, so the fault apparently lies with my phone rather than with my car.

I am looking for a solution that either (a) makes AA work via USB or (b) makes AA ignore the USB connection so that the wireless connection keeps working.

AA Settings Android Auto vs Bluetooth Volume

The volume of my speakers while on Android auto are very low as compared to the normal Bluetooth connection. The volume maxes out on volume at 22 while the slider goes to 30. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue?

Uncertified AA Apps (Headunit Reloaded, AAAD/AAStore, etc) [UPDATE] Xtream Player v1.4.0 new icons and Games addon

Hey,

Long time no see. As I was waiting in the car for my wife to finish shoping, I realised it would be nice to have some simple games on the dashboard to play. So I added a new addon for Premium that I will expand in the next month's. For now it has some very simple but popular games like chess, connect 4, etc. Also changed the Icons of the app to make them more modern. So update includes:

Free 1.4.0

https://github.com/malebuffy/XtreamPlayerFree/releases

-Updated in-app icons.

-YT Music trial popup auto-dismisses.

-YT Music keeps playing the next song in the background.

-Side-panel skip no longer blacks out the screen.

Premium 1.4.0 (for donors to AAEnabler)

https://github.com/malebuffy/XtreamPlayer/releases

-Updated in-app icons.

-YT Music trial popup auto-dismisses.

-YT Music keeps playing the next song in the background.

-Side-panel skip no longer blacks out the screen.

-FS Play YouTube no longer stutters.

-FS Play seek / rewind / FF work.

-Games addon (please only use when car is parked)

Install with AAEnabler

https://github.com/malebuffy/AAEnabler/releases

Also updated AAenabler:

-Bug fixes

-It now tries different istallation methods automatically. Install Shizuku button so you don't have to go looking. I recommend you run Shizuku if installing Android Auto compatible APK doesn't work, especially on OPPO/RealMe/OnePlus devices and Huawei as well.

Only if Xtream Player doesn't show up on Android Auto, get a Installation link from https://fermataxtream.online

Important: Aytomatic updates only work when installed with AAenabler. If installed via fermataxtream.online, you need to request a new link.

Enjoy

Uncertified AA Apps (Headunit Reloaded, AAAD/AAStore, etc) Need 5-min compatibility testers for GoPro Remote for AndroidAuto (Free Codes for Mission 1 / Pro, Lit Hero, Max 2 owners)

Hey everyone!

I developed an app that lets you control your GoPro directly from your dashboard:

👉 **GoPro Remote for Android Auto (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.controlmygopro.androidauto&hl=en)

**The Reason for this Post:**

With so many GoPro models on the market, the BLE/Wi-Fi communication protocol *in theory* supports all of them identically. However, as an indie dev, I don't have access to every physical device, and I don't want to list these models as supported until real users verify them in the real world.

**Cameras needed for testing:**

- Mission 1

- Mission 1 Pro

- Lit Hero

- Max 2

⚠️ **Crucial:** The test **MUST be done on your Android Auto display** (car screen, Carpuride unit, etc.), as I need to confirm the dashboard UI/controls perform as expected.

**The 5-Minute Test:**

- I'll provide a **free promo code** for full app access.

- Pair the camera via our mobile app

- Open our app on your Android Auto system

- Verify basic operations: switch modes, start/stop recording, check responsiveness.

- Let me know the result.

If you have one of these models, drop a comment with your camera model or send me a DM, and I’ll send the code over immediately.

Thank you!

Navigation & POI Apps Is there a way to get new GMaps UI?

Previous phone is a Pixel 9 Pro and I got the new GMaps UI. Got a new Pixel 11 Pro recently and transferred all my apps over from the 9. But now with the new phone, AA isn't showing the new GMaps UI. Anyway to get the new UI with my new phone?

Checked version of AA and Gmaps, they're the same on both phones.

Product Review It sucks that Android Auto is so "small" in comparison to CarPlay

So in general I think Android Auto is fine and I don't have any complaints except for one big issue:

Everything is so small. Like literally. If you have a small screen like me, thats also 480p it can make the experience pretty shitty sometimes.

I connected CarPlay from my gf's iPhone and oh my god the difference was insane. Way bigger icons, bigger keyboard, way more accessible in general. It almost makes you forget you're on a small ahh 480p screen

My thoughts are: Why are there not even Accessibility Settings to change UI Elements and Text? What if you really need it for literal Accessibility reasons?

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Wireless not connecting, at my whits end.

I recently swapped out my headunit to the Pioneer DMH-A5650BT so I could have Android Auto Wireless. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy s26 Ultra. For the first few weeks it worked flawlessly. One day it stopped connecting wirelessly. It works plugging the cable in however. I have tried my partners iPhone and Carplay works wirelessly no issue. I have tried every remedy I have possibly found online, changing settings, deleting data and cache, unpairing repairing, factory reset, updated firmware...you get the point. The thing that gets me is the message will pop up on my phone saying android auto is available and to follow on screen instructions. I click on android auto on the headunit and it says "connecting" followed by "Android Auto has stopped". Has anyone had this or know of a solution. Reached out to google and samsung but no response (no surprise). Thankyou in advance

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Skipping

Hi! I have a 2023 Mazda CX-9 with Android Auto (version 17.3.662854-release). I am using AA Wireless version 7.6.2659. I am on a Pixel 10 Pro.

Recently whether I am charging my phone or not, the connection stutters when listening to podcasts on Podcast Addict. Once Android Auto completely stopped. I have tried clearing the cache in Android Auto and that didn't help.

I had an issue in the past with it crashing completely and restarting my phone but I found that that was because my phone was getting too hot so that has been fixed. The stuttering while playing is new.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Gemini Gemini says I don't have YouTube Premium, but my second account does. Is there a workaround?

Hey everyone,

I ran into an issue with Android Auto and YouTube Music:

Account A (Main): Used for my phone, Gemini, and general Google services.

Account B (Secondary): Has my active YouTube Premium subscription.

When I use Android Auto and ask the assistant via voice to play a specific song, Gemini uses Account A and tells me I need YouTube Premium to play requested songs.

The YouTube Music app on my phone is logged into Account B, but voice commands in Android Auto always go through Account A's Gemini profile.

Is there any way to link Account B's YouTube Music as the default music provider for Assistant/Gemini on Account A, or any workaround other than upgrading to a Family Plan or manually switching accounts in Gemini every time I get in the car?

Phone: Galaxy S25 Ultra

Thanks!

Navigation & POI Apps Android Auto Navigation Display Lagging Behind Realtime Location

Since the start of the immersive navigation update, it appears that my displayed location while navigating in Android Auto is a second or two behind my realtime location. This does not appear to occur when using CarPlay with my work iPhone, nor does it appear when running the app in navigation mode without having it connected to Android Auto.

I've seen this occur in both a rental car I had the other week and my current vehicle, a 2020 4Runner. My music and podcast apps do not appear to show any kind of lag, touchscreen inputs and car media button inputs have no discernable lag. I have cleared the Google Maps cache, and this occurs both with a wired and a wireless adapter (AAWireless Two with what should be the latest firmware). I've tried both 3D and 2D display. Any ideas?

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Carrier unlocked phone will not connect wirelessly

Hello. I recently switched to a new Motorola razr 2025 ultra, it is branded AT&T but unlocked, I'm using it on Metro pcs and all that works as it should.

My aftermarket head unit will connect to AA just fine using a USB cord, but fails to connect wirelessly.

The initial Bluetooth connection is all good, pairing works and I can even play music via BT, but when AA attempts to connect to the head unit via direct wifi, the connection attempts fail.

I have searched all I can on the Internet and I'm at my wits end.

I have tried forgetting the connections and re-pairing several times, clearing the cache, all permissions for AA are allowed, not connected to any other wireless networks. Tried forgetting Bluetooth connections and let the system initiate its own connection via USB, anytime the cord is unplugged AA will not connect to the head unit direct WiFi.

This is on 2 similar Chinese head units (current one is Pyle) and other phones connect wirelessly just fine.

It has to be something to do with the fact that this phone is carrier unlocked, any tips or assistance is appreciated!
