Psychosis and intense anger is how mine started. Severe anxiety impending doom. PTSD then complete and total darkness. I could look into the eyes of my wife and feel like a cold blooded psychopath.

There is people who suffer this from all different types of stuff. If you believe long covid could have started this issues cross check your symptoms and see if you have any other hallmark symptoms. Pots CFS PEM etc.

I’m in full remission now and I am only writting this to prevent unnecessary loss of life. Meaning I know how close someone reading this is to killing themselfs and I’m here to tell you it’s gets so much better. My quality of life has improved greatly. It’s not a straight line God knows I would be lying if I said it was.

You will beat this and come out the other side. I was so sick for so long I thought there was 0% chance of recovery but I’m telling you it’s possible. Your body will heal from damage you didn’t even know it could sustain.

i have no prior drug addictions and have only done most of these a handful of times, yet i literally cannot experience any sort of pleasure or high from any substance i try. i’ve done nic, weed, alcohol, methylphenidate, adderall, hydrocodone, oxycodone, hoping for it to relieve my anhedonia, but to no avail. the drugs have a physical impact on me, but no euphoria or any alterations in mental state. this condition is so fucked you cant even get high. has anyone gotten out of this?

Long Story Short. I first experienced Anhedonia about 3 years after quitting kratom ( a highly addictive substance that wreaks havoc on dopamine receptors much like opioids, but from what I hear much worse). It has been 4.5 months since I last quit kratom and am thoroughly convinced that the anhedonia is still very much an issue. I have quit kratom about 3 times in the past 5 years and if I can recall my brain really doesn't get back to baseline til the 6th or 9th month. One of the things that tears me apart is my inability to compose music. The motivation, drive, spark, inspiration is deader than dead. I hope to god this is not permanent but only time will tell.

I was watching a youtube video on anhedonia that was pretty informative that suggests that we continue to do the think that brought us joy be it, creating, exercising, gardening, reading etc. and that this trains my brain to eventually repave the the reward pathway. Does this science sound legit? I believe I have read this in other articles but I would love to hear first hand from anyone who found this worked for them. Thanks.

What actually relieved these monster symptoms?

I know psychedelics are recommended for this stuff but often times they themselves are affected by a substance blockage that occurs where the positive reward effects don’t hit and the buzz in the head is not generated.

MAOi for me does not seem to help consummatory and I get more blunting after a week on them, although initially Parnate helps anticipatory tone

And the type of anhedonia I am referring to is not only activities, its the passive tone comfort and atmosphere lacking and the buzz physically not happening and being felt in the head.

Blank mind is the loss of inner monologue, complex thought, no creativity and you lose access to self and as a result often socializing is impossible

This syndrome is like completely neglected by doctors and often gaslit even more than other mental health conditions and is EXTREMELY difficult if not impossible to properly treat.

Unlucky people have developed this even extremely suddenly after a virus or drug reaction. It seems to be a very vicious dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, gut brain axis, mitochondria etc but no actual treatments

Im so numb i dont think i have anhedonia anymore. I like doing the things i used to but completely numb have no reaction whenever i do sonething i like. Anyone who has managed to come out of this? I think my dopamine receptors are completely gone and whatever else causing this

im so close to actually commiting this time. But i can't. I'm 17 and i have a friend with severe depression that needs me. He will probably do it too if i die. He doesn't have anhedonia and actually has a future, unlike me. I have to stay here for at least a couple more years. How do i do it if every second is pure agony?

Holy shit. i literally cant feel anything but anger. im losing my fucking mind. everyday is just the same nothing nothing nothing nothing i cannot fucking take this anymore. Im on fucking latuda and ever since i started taking fucking anti-psychotics i cant fucking feel anything. even on the lowest doses these drugs make life so miserable and unbearable i want to kms. i would actually rather be batshit insane and crazy and hallucinating then experience nothing like i am. I just dont fucking understand why my fucking brain refuses to produce anything even close to positive holy fuck i cant take this shit anymore. I am forced to eat shitty fast food which i dont even want to eat just to sedate myself enough to make it tolerable. alcohol makes no difference. i fucking hate my life.

Anyone fixed severe Anhedonia from fish oils ? Or know how fish oil causes this, Been over a year no change really

I have had anhedonia my entire life from severe trauma starting as a newborn. I don’t think I ever had a chance and I’m pretty sure my entire system developed within that extreme trauma (CSA and trafficking)

I have been on many, many, many different medications since I was 10.

Now I’m on: Lamotrigine, Effexor, Adderall and hydroxyzine. Lamotrigine + Effexor has really raised the depression but the anhedonia remains and I still get depressed - but it’s the only med combo that touches my MDD.

I’m at my wits end and my functioning has dropped severely. Food makes me want to vomit just thinking about eating. Sex is…hit or miss. These are the two things I could still enjoy in dark times but now I couldn’t care less about them.

I’ve done a TON of therapy, trauma work, DBT group and individual (helped so much but not the anhedonia), inner work, inner exploration, meditation, etc.

At this point I’m considering psychedelics (I would have to fly to a state like Oregon or Colorado for treatment). Terrified of ECT and I’ve lied to my psychiatrist about my anhedonia for years because I got tired of past psychiatrists taking it as “suicidal” and not hearing me. I just tell her I’m fine as long as my Effexor combo is lifting the heavy weight. I am just so tired of the Ferris wheel of treatments and not being fully understood.

I’m in a position where I can self pay for ketamine but not ongoing maintenance. I can self pay for TMS if it isn’t long term. I can self pay for a few treatments out of state.

I just don’t know what to do or what option I should put the money towards because my insurance wants me to fail meds I’ve already failed and again - I’ve been withholding the anhedonia details from my psych out of fear of past experiences (I know, it’s dumb)

I just need something to make me at least enjoy being alive a tiny bit. Advice appreciated! I’ll list my official dx here

Is there any one who suffered it and keep continuing taking it.... does to much modafinil bupropion cause noise in dopamine signal which lead to more anhehodia frustration feeling excessive heat.? How to tackle it?i am suffering from 3 months from this if i don't take medicine suffer extremely completely numb....

I find myself not wanting to ever get up and forcing myself to be sleepy even when I'm clearly not anymore just to go back to the dream.

I don't understand how my daily life is so dull and gray, but my dreams are so full of life and creativity. Even when they're kinda nightmares or not so happy dreams, it's incredible how detailed they are and how vividly I feel every emotion while asleep.

It kinda gives me some hope because it may be not a brain problem, but a situational problem then.

Anyone feels the same?

As the title says I currently have the worst anhedonia ever from olanzapine it feels like my brain has been dried I cannot cope anymore need some hope.
