What was the last random act of kindness someone did for you?

i was at starbucks last year and was getting myself a coffee and my daughter a cake pop. i was having a really hard day going through a breakup from an abusive relationship and when i got to the window my card wouldn’t read. checked my bank, there’s money there. did the card again. declined. tried apple wallet. declined. tried to add the money to my apple cash. declined. ex bf had somehow messed with it and frozen my card. i started crying and trying rly hard not to and i told the barista im sorry but i guess i can’t pay for this. i’ll come back another time, and he pulled $20 out of his pocket and said “oh isn’t that a $20 in your hand ? here miss let me get you some change.” and he gave me change and refused to take it back when i tried to give it to him. very very very sweet moment

My best friend called me up a few months back and asked me to run by. He handed me the keys to his stepdaughters old car. While I didn’t exactly NEED a second vehicle, I drive a company owned truck that it’s frowned upon to drive after hours and if my wife has plans or working over I couldn’t come visit. That’s family right there.

Filled my gas tank. That’s honestly the nicest thing you can do for me -like why do I hate it so much. Maybe because I have no control over it and it’s always inconvenient haha

2 years ago, I was in Manhattan for a week. I walk from my hotel over to Starbucks, but had forgotten my wallet. When I realized it while placing my order, I said, "Oh, forgot my wallet, I'll come back." and walked out the door. I came back half an hour later, there was a super long line, I got my coffee and left. 2 days later, I go to that same Starbucks right at opening time, and it's the same cashier. She said, "Hey, did you come back the other day?" I said, "Yep, I was back like half an hour later." She replies, "Damn. I was watching for you, you walked off so fast. I was going to give you a free coffee." I say, "That's thoughtful of you, but I'm good." She says, "So, your coffee is free today."

A cashier at dollar tree refused to sell me 2 lighters bc I didn’t have my id (I’m 30) and I said nvm forget it bc it’s in the car and I parked far asf and I wasn’t gonna get back in line and this lady behind me was going to bat for me saying that stupid u need to sell her those yadda yadda and then she said ill pay for them and she bought me the lighters 🤪

I was at the orchard with my family, and my wife got this little butterfly clip thing for my son who has been really into The Very Hungry Caterpillar recently.
Kid loses it. We notice at the car. I do a sweep, nothing. A guy notices me looking, comes over with his daughter. She found the butterfly and they want to give it back. At this point I'm ready to go spend the $4 again, so I offer it to her for being kind. Dad refuses, gives it back, AND says they are going to go buy one for the girl next.

I had someone from a different office working because the normal people were off. He did WAY more things to make my job easier than the normal people. And he didn't have to. I made sure he knew that I appreciated it.

On Saturday - a busy day - I was waiting in line for a cashier at local grocery store behind a woman placing about 25 items on the belt - not a huge #. I had one item. She turned around and asked me if that was all I had. I said yes. She insisted I get in front of her. 10 years ago this was an unsurprising gesture. This year the smiles we gave each other showed that both of us were happy - one to give and the other to receive. Sweet way to start the day.

A guy in line behind me paid for my coffee when my card got declined, and he just waved it off like it was nothing. It was a $4 latte but i still think about it alot

I was leaving work early because the shots in my knee had worn out and I was struggled to walk around, which is a major part of my job. A regular overheard the conversation and offered me a ride home, because I walk, I don’t drive. He was so sweet and, if I remember right, had a disabled tag in his own car.
Anyway, he drove me right up to my building’s back door, with me thanking him profusely. It’s not the first time a customer has done this. Six months earlier a customer recognized me as I waited for the bus and also gave me a ride.
I’m sitting here, icing my knee, nearly three weeks out from knee surgery, thinking how blessed I am. From strangers to a spouse who has taken good care of me in my recovery. 🫶🏻

This is several years ago, during COVID. Going shopping in the supermarket during the pandemic was a fairly stressful experience. I get to the counter, to pay for my groceries, and there is an old lady in front. She has a couple of new bank cards, and none of them work (likely she had not activated them). She keeps trying, they keep getting declined. She pulls out all the cash she has, but is £20 short. It's awkward. So, I step in and pay the missing £20, and the old lady walks off with her groceries. Doesn't so much as say thank you, but I chalk it up to her likely feeling embarrassed and being also a bit not with it since her cards also didn't work. Anyhow, I just want to pay and go as quickly as possible.
The lady behind the counter is friendly and chatty, asks me what I do for work and such and I tell her thinking she is just making small talk. She works out that I'm a key worker (teaching) and gets out vouchers for key workers and manages to get me £20 off my shop.
She definitely also noticed the old lady's lack of grace and made up for it! I certainly did say thank you!

Payroll screwed up. I worked a 40 hour work week but when I got my check not only did it say I worked a 40 hour work week it also gave me 40 hours of overtime. I was a little shocked when the company said it's our mistake. they shook my hand and said don't worry about it. OK received a little bonus I guess.

I joked with her at the coffee bar and we had a laugh. Went to check out and she had paid for my coffee and disappeared! 😁 Great start to my day.
