I have been gone out of the country for the past two weeks and I have received many emails and messages asking why I had not talked about Dolly passing away. Honestly, it has taken me a week just to process that we lost our Appalachian Angel. Then today I learned of Wendell Barry another voice of Appalachia who passed away. I finally sat down to write about both of them.

hello! i’m writing a paper on media portrayals of appalachians, specifically on appalachian language/linguistics and the stereotypes that come from an appalachian accent.

if anyone has any media portrayals of appalachians that fit this topic, please give me some recommendations! i’m looking for both positive and negative portrayals, but am more in need of some negative examples.

any type of media is acceptable, but in terms of literary content, i would prefer short stories/poems rather than full-length novels
