Iāve been building Pasly, a clipboard manager for macOS and iOS, around a simple idea:
Your clipboard shouldnāt disappear after you copy something else ā and it shouldnāt be stuck on one device.
Pasly keeps a searchable history of the text, images, links, and files you copy, and makes them available when you need them.
But instead of making you constantly open a separate clipboard window, I wanted it to feel like part of the normal copy/paste workflow.
On Mac
Pasly adds a few things around the way you already copy and paste:
- Smart Paste ā access recent clipboard items directly from āV
- Paste Stack ā copy several things, then paste them one by one
- Multi Select ā select and move multiple clipboard items at once
- Files ā copy, store, and work with files just like other clipboard items
- Floating Paste ā keep your clipboard close while working
- Field Sense ā adapts what you paste based on the field you're using
- Search & Favorites ā find things you copied earlier
Across devices
This is the part Iāve been working on recently.
Pasly can sync your clipboard history across Macs, iPhone, and iPad using Apple's CloudKit.
Copy something on one Mac and it can show up in your clipboard history on another ā even if the computers aren't near each other.
That now includes files and multiple files at once, not just text and images.
On iPhone and iPad, recent items can also be accessed through a Live Activity on the Lock Screen / Dynamic Island, and Pasly can send a notification when something new arrives from another device.
iOS ā Mac is still partially manual because of iOS clipboard restrictions. I'm working on making that side of the experience more seamless.
Why I built it
Apple's Universal Clipboard is great when you want to copy the latest thing between nearby devices.
What I wanted was closer to having my actual clipboard history follow me.
If I copied a link yesterday, a file on another Mac, or several pieces of text I need for a form, I want them to still be there.
And I wanted the clipboard manager itself to stay out of the way until I actually need it.

I'm the developer, so I'm especially interested in feedback from people who use more than one device.
Whatās the one thing you wish your current clipboard could do that it doesn't?
