Do you think Arrested Development benefited from its initial run being shortened (due to less room for inconsistency), or would it have been more highly regarded with more episodes? What storylines would you have liked to see?

It is my understanding that S2 was shortened from 22 episodes to 18, and S3 from 22 to 13. Of course, tt was then famously canceled at the end of the third season.

Do you think, if those extra 12 episodes had been made within the 3-season window, it would have been better or worse for the show? Would the writers have been stretched too thin, or would this have led to an even higher quality of TV? What about a fourth season directly after S3 instead of 7 years later, and in the traditional format? Could the premise have run, if they didn't bring it to a conclusion, for that long?

I can't figure out if the limited run created a more airtight sequence of TV, allowing for more consistency and creating the "perfection" that AD is unmatched in, or if it would've been better to get more content during the original run.

A more fun version of the question would be: what storylines would have been fun to see during the original run, if it had been given more time?
