Political Question Right wing unhinged?
The more i venture into the conservative right wing cesspool the more disconnected they seem? How are they genuinely talking about nuking another country and they somehow say like it is sipping tea or something. Why and what percentage of Americans would you say agree to nuclear option? is there even going back after you open that box?
12
u/Always221 16h ago
They don't want to live in reality.
They want to believe whatever feels good even if it's pure fiction. Lots of similarities with religion and fictional books like the Bible.
11
u/72dragonses 16h ago
Maybe 10% of Americans agree with a nuclear option now...but if Trump goes through with one, 90% of Republicans would stand behind his decision after the fact.
4
u/YouKnowMyName2006 16h ago
That’s true they are too afraid to stand up to him on anything even though many of them know what he’s doing is wrong.
1
u/fastbikkel 16h ago
"they are too afraid to stand up to him"
I think many just embrace it though, has nothing to do with being scared.1
u/Intelligent-Net9390 7h ago
That’s not it. They’re too scared of loosing their seat. Look at how Trump attacks anyone who dares to stands up to him on that side and they go on to loose their primary or loose their election because Republican votes get split (because the MAGA cult won’t vote against daddies wishes)
1
u/72dragonses 16h ago
I'd argue that most Republicans hate him. They neither like nor support most of the things he does.... They just distrust and hate liberals even more than Trump.
2
u/Uncredid 16h ago
So u could argue almost 70/80 million people?
3
u/72dragonses 16h ago
Sounds about right. If they didn't abandon him after 2 impeachments, multiple felony convictions and an insurrection and STILL voted for him to be president again, there's nothing they wouldn't accept from him.
1
u/onlydunks 15h ago
If Trump launches one, it's all over for us all. Look up Mutually Assured Destruction aka MAD
1
u/72dragonses 15h ago
I don't have to look it up. I've known what it means for 40 years.
1
u/onlydunks 15h ago
then you know if Trump launches a nuke it wont matter what 90% of Republicans would do or think then...
1
u/72dragonses 15h ago
Sure it does. First, I don't believe Trump launching a nuke, which would almost certainly be a very small tactical nuke in the ~5-15kt range (Hiroshima size or smaller), against Iran leads to mutually assured destruction.
It would lead to massive global condemnation, but would it lead to MAD? No, I don't see it in that scenario.
If Iran, however, launched a nuke against Israel? In that case, yes, MAD would result. Israel would retaliate with not just 1 nuclear weapon in response, but likely multiple nukes against multiple Arab nations. The prospects of that scenario are much more likely to result in MAD.
1
u/Conscious_Tourist163 15h ago
MAD only works if the other side has a lot of nukes with delivery systems.

Do you talk to people in person, or are you basing it off reddit?
9

People have been saying we should just nuke Iran since well before the Internet was even a thing. But when we actually start bombing Iran they don't like it.
It's all bluster and chauvinism

Nice argument. I am asking questions. I'm independent. I've voted for both parties. Never for trump. I live in MA. A very blue state. We've actually had more republican governors than democratic governors in the past 100+ years. Federal generally goes blue easily.
My point is people on social media generalize a party. Is MA a cesspool if we vote in a republucan governor?
1
u/TheCircumventor2000 15h ago
If you're so civil and what you say about yourself is true then there's no reason to hide your comments.
You're here to paint upset people as people with nothing better to do.
You're definitely not transparent.

How many people? I ask these questions because you are making a huge generalization.

There are some lunatics on the right. Many people never cared about voting until MAGA. Those are facts. There are some good people who vote red.
2028 will be interesting. Will it follow MAGA with someone lije Vance or will it be wide open again like it was in 2016. I fully understand we need to get to 2028.

The conservatives I know IRL talk exactly like the conservatives online. Donald Trump has an 80% approval rating among republicans. It's crazy to me that people believe the average republican doesn't approve of Trump's views and actions.
2
u/More_Armadillo_1607 15h ago
Again. Small sample size. I believe you though. Some people are just crazy.
Approval ratings don't mean a ton. What was GWB's approval rating in 2004 and yet he still beat Kerry. At the end of the day, you are still voting based on the ballot in front of you.
I haven't been happy about a presidential vote since 2012. Yeah, I'll give people fuel for the fire and say it was romney. I haven't voted red for president since but have not exactly been happy about my blue votes.
1
u/Sweet_Baby_Cheezus 15h ago
80% of democratic voters believe in socialized healthcare. If I said, democrats want socialized healthcare, yes it is not all democrats, but it would be disingenuous to say that to pretend it's a fringe belief that doesn't really represent democrats.
Likewise...
73% wouldn't disqualify Trump if directly implicated in the files
62% consider themselves MAGA republicans
50% of republicans believe the election was rigged.
25% approval of Jan 6thDonald Trump in general represents republicans in general. Not every single one on every single issue but the majority of them on the majority of his actions.
1
u/More_Armadillo_1607 14h ago
I live in MA so I surrounded by very liberal people. It makes a middle ground person feel right winged. However, I am starting to get through to some people. Do you want our government in charge of Healthcare for everyone? Do you want Donald trump to be in charge of healthcare for everyone? Everyone thinks we will never have anyone as bad. Yet, I heard the same thing during gwb's terms.
Believing in socialized healthcare and implementing it are 2 different things. I believe in it but i know pur current government cannot implement it. You have to understand what is actually being asked in these polls.
As for the rest of the polls, whatever. I didn't read them but they are polls. Here's the thing with polls. At the end of the day, we have a ballot. Not approving trump and voting for harris are independent of one another. Maybe there will be a blue wave or maybe there won't be. Even if you hate trump, you are still voting for the best person to fill a congressional seat. Hating yrump doesn't make everyone vote for a bad candidate. Some will for sure. But not everyone. That is why polls are worthless other than asking who exactly are you voting for.
1
u/Sweet_Baby_Cheezus 14h ago
You say real republicans aren't the same as republicans online. And so I say from personal experience, yes, republicans in real life say the same thing as they do online. But that's a small sample size. So I find multiple polls with valid sample sizes showing that republicans believe and support Trump in real quantifiable numbers. But then polls don't matter.
Like I cannot possibly imagine being so "middle of the road" that I literally do not know the general overarching beliefs of one side. Like besides online communities, IRL interactions and polls, where are you finding all these mystical republicans that are apparently completely detached from the rest of the republican party?
2
u/More_Armadillo_1607 14h ago
One of my gifts is i like to talk to people. Irl, I'll talk to anyone and everyone. I can talk all subjects. One thing i am good at is listening.
I live in New England. MA now but new England my whole life. We are very blue. I know plenty of republicans. Not literally, but practically half my family leans right. None are MAGA. I have friends and acquaintances across the country some vote red. Some vote blue. Definitely some MAGAs. Not going to lie, i.avoid the MAGA conversations. I also avoid some extreme leftists conversations. I avoid because extremists don't have conversations. They just shive their opinion down your throat.
It's weird because I see more extreme left online than extreme right. This is 20+ years. I have friends in FB who complain about MAGA people. I have many mutual friends and I don't see it. Maybe I muted them. I don't know.
I get that a Texas republucan is probably different than a MA republulican. However, a MA democrat is different than a Texas sldemocrat. I think the internet just makes these huge generalizations that realky don't make sense.
Today is our primary in MA. The democratic seats are really the only votes that matter. General election time, the only contested seat will be governor. If i vote republucan, am I MAGA? On reddit, some people think so.
1
u/Sweet_Baby_Cheezus 14h ago
Oh I get it. You're a conservative that's smart enough to be embarrassed by Trump's constant buffoonery, but wants to pretend that conservatism as a whole didn't put him there and support him at every opportunity.
If I vote republican am I MAGA? yes. You can certainly vote a moderate dem or independent candidate, but at this point, if you get in the boat with MAGA and let them row it, you're MAGA.
1
u/More_Armadillo_1607 13h ago
This is just immature.
So, if I voted for Charlie baker as governor in MA, I'd be MAGA? OK, so the majority of people who voted in MA are MAGA Makes sense.
1
u/Sweet_Baby_Cheezus 13h ago
Sorry, I'm talking about the people you vote for in 2026. Not someone you voted for 8 years ago.
Or do you not want to talk about 2026, because Trump endorsed candidates win GOP primaries 90%+ of the time?

u/More_Armadillo_1607 13h ago
One question.
Do you think people should vote for one party and one party only their whole life no matter who is running? If you answer without a disclaimer, I will know the type of person you are.
1
u/Sweet_Baby_Cheezus 13h ago
Absolutely not. I think if a party elects an incompetent pedo felon as president, then you should not vote for any candidates who are proud to be endorsed by him and support the worst parts of his agenda.
And if the majority of the party continued to support him, I certainly wouldn't try to convince myself that he's some sort of aberration.

That is a clue that it might be Russian, or some outside group. There is a lot of dissent about the war, if there is a consensus there then it isn't organic.
1
u/Due_Satisfaction2167 15h ago
Why
American conservatives are literally insane. A lot of them want to end the world. I’m not exaggerating. Their actual goal is a religious one, to bring about their concept of the biblical end times. Seems completely baffling and incomprehensible to normal people, but that is a very strong motivation for tens of millions of them.
what percentage of Americans support a nuclear option?
Maybe 10% would say they want to do it, but 25-30% would go along with doing it. The same deplorable 30% that has kept Trump in power this whole time.
Is there any going back after that?
Yeah, probably. We did after the last time we nuked another country.
The problem boils down to this: what else can anyone actually do about it? The US is functionally impossible to invade militarily, and it could fight the entire world’s projectable military forces to a standstill if they attempted an invasion of North America. Nobody even has the power projection capability to support an intercontinental invasion anymore—and certainly not one sufficient to defeat an entrenched, heavily armed, fanatical country with hundreds of millions of potential conscripts.
The only option left would be a nuclear response, and the US has enough nuclear forces that it could end the whole world in return for any strikes launched against it. MAD is still a thing that keeps sane people’s thumb off the nuclear button.
Would the rest of the world be willing to die in nuclear fire to take revenge for the US nuking Iran? Probably not.
The US would become a pariah state, but the world already largely hates the US anyway and only puts up with it because they aren’t given any real choice about it. The world would be furious, but also wouldn’t really have any option but to get past it eventually.
Ex. Imagine if, after decades of depredations by the North Korean regime, there was finally change to overthrow them and restore democracy in North Korea. Do you think the rest of the world would open up trade and diplomacy, or do you think the world would continue to treat them like the regime forever?
No, eventually you don’t have any choice but to allow your opponents to address their issues and move on. You can’t realistically hold people to account for decisions made by political regimes who are long since dead or out of power—you just end up having to normalize the relationship with the successor state regardless of how immoral the prior regime was. They might be able to squeeze out a concession like forcing the US to ratify the Rome statute and allow prosecution of the Trump admin officials before trade and diplomatic re-normalization, but realistically expecting anything other than holding some of the war criminals responsible for the most atrocious war crimes isn’t likely in the cards.

The left owns almost all media. The far right has control of the presidency and less than a handful of senators/congressmen. Thats it. The right might have control of all three branches, but calling everyone right of your personal views far right is why people dont support the left.
2
u/sirlost33 15h ago
Lol.
The far left owns no media in America. The far right has the majority in congress. The presidency. And the federal courts.

Yeah. They’re fed propaganda all day and are super insulated from all of trumps failings. If it affects them negatively it’s somehow dems fault. If trump covers up the Epstein files then why didn’t Biden release them? If the pro peace admin goes to war with Iran and gas goes up 1.50 then Harris would’ve invaded too or Iran can’t have a nuke and chants death to America. Maga is programmed. u/Sawoodster 5h ago
No I don’t, and I don’t think Trump is completely wrong. Legitimately we have been paying the lions share for both tariffs and other countries defenses. Yes we’re better off but that doesn’t mean we should cover the majority of the cost. I think overall his focus is right but unfortunately his execution is wrong. 10/10 id still vote for him over Harris, but he also wouldn’t be my first pick for president.

Did you not read the post we are under? We’re talking about conservative spaces on Reddit wanting to nuke Iran.

u/Competitive-Bit-1571 2h ago
Since r/conservative is the only one I know, I'd like to see a link to a post with such comments because I doubt you'll actually get one. Even the guys there say the war is lost.

As someone who doesn't affiliate with either party, I think they are both full of lunatics.

You posted that vaccines cause cancer…..
1
u/SignificanceThese356 5h ago
The mRNA shots cause cancer. They are not vaccines. And technically, they just weaken your immune system making you more susceptible to cancer.
1
u/Intelligent-Net9390 5h ago
They do not cause cancer and they are in fact vaccines. There’s literally medical research right now to use mRNA vaccinations as targeted cancer treatment.
1
u/SignificanceThese356 5h ago
Unsuccessful research.
Also, you're proving my point. Anyone who isn't on the left gets lumped in with the right. No wonder Trump won.
1
u/Intelligent-Net9390 5h ago
Literally ongoing research that hasn’t concluded yet….
Also you are quite literally on the right 😂 it has nothing to do with whether or not you like Trump.

u/SignificanceThese356 5h ago
I was a left leaning libertarian until 2015. You guys moved so far left that I'm now right wing, supposedly.

u/Intelligent-Net9390 5h ago
My guy your comment history is public and the large majority of your takes are not moderate at all.

They've been actively encouraging the nuclear option -- in church, on Sunday morning -- for 40 years. Google "The Late Great Planet Earth".

u/Dirk_Kailis 16h ago
Claiming that people like Hal Lindsey represent Christianity is like claiming Osama Bin Laden represents Islam.
0
u/Kali-of-Amino 15h ago
And yet millions of Christians not only do just that, they claim that anyone who doesn't follow "people like Hal Lindsey" aren't REAL Christians. Yes, it's the "no true Scotsman" fallacy, but they're quite serious about it.

u/Dirk_Kailis 15h ago
Fanatics are fanatics. They exist.
It’s up to you whether you believe a small segment represents a whole society though. Personally, I do not think that radical Islam jihadists are representative of Islam as a whole.
It definitely fits your agenda though.

I’m in Trump territory and do not know a single person that wants to nuke another country.

Probably like 30%, they'd hardly ever admit it out loud. I think there's some serious reputation laundering going on for nuclear states. Right after we dropped the A-bomb in Japan, America was so horny for atom bombs. It wasn't a somber admission of great responsibility like Truman made it out to seem.
Most dumbfucks were wandering around going "why don't we do this to everyone?" Listening to street interviews from the 50s and 60s is super disturbing in this regard.

"Right wing" is painting with pretty broad strokes. I think there are some old guard Republican Hawks who might advocate this and some influencer plants, but most normal people want nothing to do with war, let alone a nuclear one. Trump ran on an antiwar platform, which is what the people wanted.

The far right and the far left are both equally dangerous, possibly for different reasons but equally dangerous nonetheless.

u/Plus-Set-6377 16h ago
Patently untrue. Nothing pisses me off more than the both sides are the same rhetoric. Trump raped kids and MAGA still defends him.

It's unhinged if your views are based on propaganda bots also there is lots of exaggerated trolling and sarcasm online outside of left bubble, which you don't get
3
u/CrashNowhereDrive 15h ago
The whole 'trump is trolling' garbage is just the right being disingenuous. He goes ahead and does the shit they say is just trolling, they pretend they took it seriously and supported it, then he moves on the the next 'troll'.

Buddy they both are unhinged. The sooner you realized it the better your life will be

u/SnooStrawberries2955 16h ago
No. This “both sides” nonsense needs to stop. Your pedophile president wants more corruption and death while the democrats want healthcare. They are not the same.

When Trump was running for his first term, he was throwing around idle nuke threats and I couldn't understand why more Republicans didn't think that was absolutely horrifying. It's the single worst war event in the history of the world. Never before has a country killed so many people in a single day of war in all of human history.
0
u/Dear-Bear2135 16h ago
If we nuke another country, then all hope is lost. There is no coming back from that on the world stage.
0
u/tfsteel 16h ago
Republican voters are idiots, intellectually, morally and ethically. They're the most vulnerable population to fraud, scams and lies. They are contemptible fools who believe that the same, tired old policies that failed every other time will for sure work this time in spite of no evidence of it ever working out well in the US or anywhere else in the world.

u/thingsorfreedom 15h ago
All you have to do is pick one lie they are repeating and keep pointing out with evidence that it’s a lie. Don’t allow a drift to other topics (a favorite tactic) or attacks on the source rather than the facts (another favorite tactic)
Just be steady and measured in your takedown. They will either lose their shit or declare the time for debating is over and walk away.

u/onlydunks 15h ago
Because they are lunatics and batshit crazy. If any country set off a nuke it would create a chain reaction of other countries launching nukes and then everyone with a nuke would launch. It's called MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) and it is the exactly thing that keeps any country from launching a nuke. Because we would ALL die.

Wanting to destroy your enemies completely in war is cruel. But not even close to insane. Insane is thinking you can stick rules on organized mass murder and somehow make it "clean". Insane is thinking people threatening to kill you, funding bombing attacks, and saying they hate you can be won over with hugs. Insane is denying innate violence in humans- how many on the left have said they want to physically harm Trump voters? What happens if a person wears a MAGA hat in Seattle? It may suck, but the desire to destroy an enemy is one of the sanest desires humans can have- its the desire to be safe from those that would hurt you.

Right wingers left wingers all are unhinged. There wont be a nuclear option. Its all talk that the left wing is using as propaganda. The maga love to start this stuff because they know it will make everyone go crazy. We really have to just ignore them and let them hang themselves, both right and left. Make sure vote, thats the way to change things

Because they are a crazy cult and half of them are Russian/Israel bots.
