Okay so I frequent Atlantic City (about two visits per month) throughout the year. Since I turned 21, I have always played at Hard Rock. I play a mix of slots, craps, blackjack, and sports betting. I am a “low roller.” I’ll play about $5/spin on slots, $50-$100/hand on blackjack, and my sports bets are typically between $100 and $1,000. It was actually enough to get me a host about a year into playing, staying, and dining at the casino.

Unfortunately, I basically have been ghosted by my host. I used to get nice suites, rooms on weekends and holidays, and more. Now I can’t even get a text back. Well I got a new host, and it’s more of the same - silence, “I’ll get to it tomorrow”, “let me check availability and I’ll get back to you.”

Being said, I am looking for a new place to call home and do most of my playing, staying, and dining. Some things I like about Hard Rock: it’s clean, it’s on the boardwalk/beach, great dining options, good shows. My immediate kneejerk reaction would be to give my business to Ocean, but I think I would have difficulty getting weekend rooms and a host. Does anyone have recommendations for a good place to try out? Thank you…

Anyone have any great casino host recommendations? I’m specifically looking for Borgata, Oceans, Hard Rock, and Caesars properties. TIA!

So give it to me straight with this option... is it always the Chelsea tower??

I need a room for a weekend in September and selecting the tower in advance jumps the price $200 more.

I am assuming they give you the worst room (I've heard terrible things about Chelsea tower starting with how FAR it is from everything)

I've stayed in North, South, and Havana tower which would all be fine with me.

Is anyone familiar with this option to provide insight?

I don't think center boardwalk has been this packed in decades.

Now, I am a fool, so I must ask: who were the organizers of the event, and how and why have they not pushed for more "on the beach concerts" in the summer?

I understand that casinos syphon all the "big" acts because they want to keep the revenue for themselves. But from all photos and social media posts I have seen, this type of experience paints Atlantic City in a positive light and provides the type of adrenaline shot this city needs. I'm sure 90% of those 35,000 did not just up and go home after the event.

I wish Boardwalk Hall was able to regain its position as a frequent tour spot, but I do think the focus should be using the literal beach real estate in the summer. I had (and still have no idea) who Rufus Du Sol is, but the young hip crowd certainly does. Maybe Atlantic City needs more of those types of acts, or even a big festival in the vein of Lollapalooza and the like.

Like someone on the Atlantic City Facebook group said, "I have never seen so many smoking hot chicks in my life." Targeting the "hip, well-off, festival crowd" can coincide very nicely with the new luxury housing developments coming to Atlantic City. It happened in Miami, and look at that city now.

But what do I know?

Have booked a place in Atlantic City New Jersey the weekend before Halloween. Does anyone know of scary things to do in the area or if the Casinos do anything Halloween themed the weekend before?

I haven't seen the Solana rooms in person yet, but they seem nice enough online. Are they a big enough improvement that you'd give up the superior location of south tower?

Im getting offered a comp on either one; looking for opinions. I did stay in the pre-renovation West tower ages ago, I don't remember the walk being too bad (IIRC it's not as far away as Chelsea am I remembering that correctly?)

I had a chance to pop into RYFE for the first time a few weeks ago for happy hour.

HH is daily 3-6.

I ordered the tuna tartare ($9) & a Mexican Mule ($5).

Pros: discounts on both food & drinks, no wait, plenty of seats, bartender was awesome & friendly, $5 cocktails, $5 beers, $6 wines. It's every day and starts earlier than most HH around town.

Con: despite being in AC it feels a tad far away (not their fault).

Suggestions: allow the table tops in the bar area to also be served from HH menu & throw a whisky based drink on that HH menu.

(I've also had their grilled calamari at their other location and it's top notch)

Since July 1st, I have earned over 2000 Tier Credits in two separate trips. After the first one I had weekday comps (no Friday or Saturday) and thought after gambling enough August to earn another 1000 plus points I would get fall weekend. Anyone have some experience to share on what the current expectations for comps weekends ? TIA

From what I last remember, Resorts had it a few years back and the sound worked. Caesars had it in WWW (I believe) and there may have been two but the sound didn’t work on one of them.

I had a chance to try Tony's Baltimore Grill for their happy hour this week. I’ve been there before with my family (I remember one Easter quite fondly with the spaghetti pizza and an older lady as hostess passing out chocolates to my kids) and late nights with just my wife, but this was my first solo HH try. Their HH is 4-6 daily at the bar. They have additional late night specials/menus as well.

I ordered a $2 (9oz.) draft of Yuengling (I later was jealous when I saw someone order possibly same deal with a Guinness. I just assumed that wasn’t part of deal. My bad.), an eggplant parm sandwich (regular menu), and later a $2 high life bottle.

I don’t eat meat. I’m a freak (don’t eat something I would pet) and yes my happy hour experiences would be a tad easier if I did eat meat. Anyway, the HH roast beef sandwich looked solid, and a hell of a deal for $6.

When I walked in Springsteen’s “Backstreets” was playing (felt right) and the lighting/mood/feels even in the late afternoon were spot on. Tony’s is a time warp beyond the physical aspects, I could sit there for hours and not notice the outside world. I overheard the booth behind me say to the waiter, “I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid, and I’m 76” as the song morphed into “Party All the Time”. I annoyed the shit out of the bartender right away because I misheard him. I thought he said I had to order a dessert, but he was explaining I had to order a drink to order off HH menu. This is a place where the bartender shakes the locals hands as they leave (you have to earn it), where patrons quietly tell the bartender when another walks to the bathroom that he will cover his bill, and right before I left two dudes who had been drinking and laughing for awhile stood up and turned around before they left the bar and said, “Alright everyone, take care!”

This is why you leave the casinos. Tony’s feels like a beating heart to Atlantic City. And yes, you either love it or you don’t.

HH Suggestions: throw that eggplant sandwich on the HH menu, consider a pizza special for HH, and maybe a $5 old fashioned with a decent bonded bourbon/rye.
