Claudia would be indie.

Stacey would be coquette.

Mary Anne would be soft girl.

Dawn would be VSCO.

Mallory would be a mix between light academia and cottagecore.

Jessi would be Y2K.

Abby would probably be grunge.

I think Ann has came out and saying Mary Anne would be a teacher before in interviews. So I figured I’d ask what other BSC members would also be a teacher. Elementary education teaches all the subjects not just one, so they’d have to teach math English science typical course courses.

Personally, my number one pick is Kristy.

I think while Claudia would enjoy teaching art. I don’t think she’d be good at teaching all the other subjects. She’d straight up avoid math if she can haha.

Stacey said she wants to work with money or fashion teaching was not an option for her.

I don’t think Dawn would be a good teacher personally. She’s really good at being snoopy so I think an investigative reporter would be better for her.

Mallory says she wants to be a writer and Jessi wants to be a dancer. Abby also prioritized soccer over sitting.

I bought them back in 2021 and promptly forgot about them due to family health issues. I recently found them again, they're still in the box they were shipped in. It could be anything. Like Mallory’s hair was not red right away it was chestnut. Or Kristy loves baseball, but she’s only as good as a second string player. Claudia knows art history and listens to Bach sometimes. Watson’s mansion is Victorian so it’s older than the ones in the shows/movie.

I've noticed that Dawn gets a lot of hate (I've personally always liked her.) But I actually think that she was ahead of her time. If she was a teenager nowadays, I can imagine her finding like-minded people on Facebook or reddit to share common ground with. I can see her having the guts to stand up for people from the rainbow community, whereas others would probably try to ignore it, or see it as a new craze etc. She would definitely fit in with the "greenies" and I can see her attending protests etc. I don't agree with her leaving stoneybrook, but I've always liked her

Book Number 88 Farewell Dawn?

What if Mary Anne never made up with Dawn after lying to her about her friends and what happened with them, and what if she never made amends with Kristy, Stacey, and Claudia after their hostile argument over babysitting jobs?

I mean, they got along great in that one book where they hung out together. They seemed like they could be friends, but what do you think it’ll be like once she has to step in and act like a mom?

I am going with Claudia.

I think they used different models because I really like the way she’s drawn on the little sister covers a bit more. They always made the girls look much older on the original covers, the little sister covers make her look 13.

Why are 99% of the houses two storied? I’ve lived in Florida my whole life, and only like the “rich friends” had them.

As the title said! I’m reading a few of the later books and the friends forever and willing to fill anyone in on what they missed.

I was thinking about the California diaries, and how Jill ended up being left behind compared to her friends. I already asked which BSC member would get the “Jill treatment” (which was overwhelmingly Kristy) but this time I’m asking what type of high school experience do you think each girl got?

Like who has the most academic life but maybe you missed out on sports. Who experimented with drugs and alcohol? Who had the most growth? Who didn’t go to prom?

I could see Stacey having the typical high school experience you see in movies, for example. She dated, she went to parties, maybe she became homecoming queen, she gets good grades, had a couple of boyfriends, etc. Her diabetes doesn’t stop her.

On the flipside seeing as Kristy decided she likes to coach more than she likes to play in one of the last books - I could see her switching from playing a school sport for planning community events. She still has the Krushers and probably still babysitting. I could see her deciding prom isn’t worth it and not going.

And Mary Anne and Mallory probably have the biggest growth potential Mallory’s at a boarding school where she’s getting all the attention that she wants and she’s writing. Mary Anne is learning about who she is after the fire.

I initially wanted to make this post about Mallory and Mary Anne specifically but I figured we might as well talk about all the other girls as well.

Kristy was some band (I think it’s a band) called Blade. I think she’s a rock fan. She mentions liking the Beatles as well.

U4Me sounds like a wannabe Backstreet Boys - maybe Stacey is into pop here.

Claudia also liked Blade, but she also mentioned listening to Bach while she’s doing art. Sounds like she has some eclectic tastes.

Mary Anne mentioned her Dad plays classical radio, but I think she’s also a pop girl. Nicky Cash might be some sort of Aaron Carter stand in. I don’t know.

Jessi also listens to classical at least when it comes to ballet.

Abby’s pretty much into the oldies in general. She mentioned the Supremes and Elvis in a book.

Logan is tricky. We know he doesn’t listen to everything that Mary-Anne does. He’s from Kentucky maybe he’s a big country fan? (I live in Kentucky I can say that, lol).

I don’t know about Mallory, Shannon, and Dawn.

I'm reading Karen's School Picture right now, and in an early chapter where her eyes hurt from reading, Watson is having the big house family read aloud the book Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. I read that book in elementary school, but unlike with the BSC, I remember little about it decades later. I think it won an award for children's literature, because a lot of the books I had to read in elementary school won those awards. (BSC I read by choice).

Ann M Martin also name-drops this book in her later Main Street series (chapter books, which I think are aimed at the same age group as the Little Sister books but with multiple POVs of characters in the town of Camden Falls, which is smaller than Stoneybrook). There's a summer book club in one of the Main Street books, and four of the girls read two books, one of which is that one.

Does anyone else like to read books that match the time of year/season/holiday they’re currently in? As I just finished another Fear Street book, I was thinking “What is good for back to school?” I started thumbing through my library (a lot of it is backlog) , and this was the first book I picked up, having never read it before I was surprised at how it just answered my thoughts. 😂

What other BSC is good for September/Back to school?

For some reason, I imagine Stacey and Claudia listening to Dolly a lot in their rooms, and I can also imagine Mary Anne getting emotional over her songs. (And she would totally cry hard over learning that she passed away.)

I help work on the wiki on and off and once a year, I stop by to see what everyone thinks about it and any edits that people want to see more of.

Is there anything you want to see posted added that's not already there? Certain trivia I should be looking for? Questions? Any kind of suggestions is welcomed! I'm not the greatest at writing summaries for the books but everything else I can keep up on.

I wonder how big a fan AMM was of Dolly Parton! Wasn’t it Jessi who described the teachers Dolly 1 and Dolly 2, in SS #3? Sad news for her today, and for all of us.. 🥺
