I saw one reel which said you cannot enter Tanah Lot temple if you are not Balinese Hindu, which made me skip the temple all together thinking what’s the point if I cannot even go to the temple.

But so glad i did it anyways. The temple even from outside is surreal and sunset - OMG.

I have big time allergies and forgot to bring my diphenhydramine (Benadryl). All of the appoteka offer me meds for seasonal allergies (Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec, etc), but I actually need rescue meds. Is this not available here? Or should i visit a physician for a prescription? I also forgot my epipen (I know, not smart, but i bought a new backpack and forgot to transfer it).

My fiancé and I are planning our honeymoon for 14 nights in Indonesia in October 2027, and we’re trying to figure out if our plan makes sense.

We’re looking for a mix of romantic, relaxing, beautiful scenery, culture, and really nice beaches. We don’t really care about nightlife or partying.

Our current idea is:
Bali
Ubud: 4 nights

We’d like to stay in a private-pool villa
Rice terraces, waterfalls, temples, food, spas, etc.

Nusa Lembongan: 2 nights OR Sidemen?
Mainly for a change of scenery and to experience a smaller island
Snorkeling, beaches, relaxing

Jimbaran: 3 nights
Beach, sunsets, seafood, possibly Uluwatu

Lombok: 5 nights
We’d like to stay in ONE nice resort/hotel for all 5 nights
Ideally a beautiful white-sand beach with clear water
We’d like to use it as our relaxing beach portion and maybe do day trips to places like Tanjung Aan, Mawun, Selong Belanak, etc.

A few questions:
1. Does this make sense for 14 nights, or are we trying to fit too much in?
2. Would you keep Nusa Lembongan, or replace it with somewhere else?
3. Is Jimbaran worth 3 nights, or would you spend those nights somewhere else?
4. For Lombok, would you choose Kuta, Senggigi, Selong Belanak, or somewhere else for a honeymoon?
5. Since we’re going in October, how are the beaches and sea conditions? We’re hoping for white sand and relatively calm water for swimming, and we’d prefer to avoid beaches that are mainly for surfing.

Would love to hear from people who’ve actually done Bali + Lombok for a honeymoon or similar trip. What would you change if you had 14 nights?

Been at a homestay for a few weeks in Tulamben (Amed area) and noticed a lonely scared kitten crying over a few days. Super skittish and scared of humans. Decided to start feeding him since he was so skinny and would die otherwise, and began socializing him. He adapted extremely fast and is very playful.

We had a vet see him and also did find a potential home for him nearby, but just someone that feeds the neighborhood cats. If we can find a more comfortable home that would be nice

If you or someone you know want a kitten and are in the area or willing to meet us on our route, lmk. On Sep 3rd we head down to Denpasar, probably swinging through Sanur before going near the airport.

We call him Ketut Crankypants, since he hisses at us while demanding pets. I don't think he knows what hissing means. He's a sweety and needy, but also a bit of a rascal.

Hi everyone. Had the pleasure of being diagnosed with pinguecula not too long ago in Indonesia
I’m really trying to find the pinguecula community especially those who love backpacking, hiking, doing outdoorsy things. I cut my trip short in Indonesia because I had a horrible flare that would not go away due to air quality (makes me sad). Regret not staying indoors for 2-3 days to see if I would recover but I was genuinely worried even about stepping outside again. And really felt like I needed to go home and just rest my eyes and leave.

I love the outdoors so much but now I’m worried I won’t be able to hike or do anything I’ve always wanted to. I had to cancel Mount bromo, Mount ijen, and Mount Rinjanji because I was worried of worsening my pinguecula. There’s so much I want to do and just feeling super discouraged. :(
Opthalmologist said a lot of Indonesians get either ptergyum or pingueculas. Would love to connect!

Has anyone had any cosmetic surgery done in bali. If so where and do you recommend?

We are currently booking our trip to Bali in May 2027. We have 4 teenagers - 3 x 15 years old and a 13 year old. Initially we had decided on Ubud - Gili Air- Seminyak. I’m now a bit conflicted about the Gili Air portion of the trip due to mixed opinions. The kids are keen on an amazing beach with snorkelling….does anyone have better suggestions for that portion of the trip? Open to all ideas!

Everything I read says the south is unrecognisable and the well known spots are saturated. What I want to know from people who actually returned is where they redirected to, and whether it held up or just turned out to be the next place on the same trajectory. Interested in specific areas rather than a general say go east, and whether the operators there are still locally run.

Does anyone know what’s happened here? I was walking up the beach and saw a massive fire that I’ve since heard started at Gado Gado but unconfirmed.

We are booking a trip to Bali for mid December. However, with all the news regarding this Super El Niño, we are a little bit concerned about what the weather could be like and how much it might affect our trip

Apparently, different parts of Bali are hit differently. We are planning to visit Kuta, Ubud and Uluwatu.

For those living in Bali or working in tourism, how concerned are people about the upcoming wet season? Are the local authorities and hotels doing anything in particular to prepare for possible extreme weather, drought, or other disruptions?

Would love to hear from anyone with local knowledge or experience with similar conditions.

The aggregator sites all seem to surface the same handful of large operators running the same itineraries, and the reviews are hard to read because the volume is so high. The good stuff seems to be smaller outfits that either aren’t listed or are buried. Are people finding them through hotels, through word of mouth here, or is there somewhere that actually curates rather than just lists everything?

I looked at a couple of local sites but the prices are crazy crazy inflated and I have no way of knowing if they’re reliable either.

I’m coming in from the Middle East to spend a few weeks in Bali, anyone recently brought a couple of vials with no issues?

Also, is the elephant park worth visiting, or is it better to skip it?

So, due west from the beach at the Patra were a string of lights on the horizon. I was thinking fishing boats but they didn’t go up and down which I would expect from a floating craft. The position seemed like at the wave breaking area. I see the land to the north but this is straight west. Any ideas?

So in Thailand nomad table or Meetup was great to meet people, but here I’m finding it hard to meet people- I understand what south Bali is like ( seminyak, canguu) and it’s mostly influencer or beach club people.

Hello everyone. So I broke my foot 2 days ago (10 fractures) and I’m in the BIMC hospital since then.
Insurance tried to rapatriate me to be operated in France but the hospital refuses to issue a fit to fly certificate. They say that there is a risk of embolism and compartment syndrome. But my insurance doctors say that if I take anti coagulants i can fly (even if it’s 16 hours+).

So I am basically stuck in the country. The airport won’t let me board the plane without a fit to fly certificate. What can I do ?

Hi everyone,I am a Bangladeshi passport holder living in the Netherlands with a valid Dutch residence permit. I am trying to connect with other Bangladeshi nationals who have successfully applied for an Indonesian tourist visa recently to figure out the actual route.
Here is the roadblock I am facing:
The Goal: Applying for a C1 Single Entry Tourist Visa.
The Embassy Issue: I went to the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague, but they refused to take my application and turned me back. They told me I need to apply through a guarantor/travel agency based in Indonesia.
The Agency Issue: When I looked into agencies, I was told that there is a strict security block on Bangladeshi passports right now. They said express visas are completely banned for our nationality, approvals are not guaranteed, and electronic applications are getting stuck or rejected. Since the embassy in The Hague won't take my paper application and Indonesian agencies are warning about a lockdown on our passport, I feel completely stuck.
