MWAVE feels like a scam

I have ordered a couple of components from them 2 weeks ago and the e-mail I got is it's been delayed. I have initiated a chat and e-mail Monday and there hasn't been any reply! The only parts missing to finish my set-up is from them and even the ones I ordered from Amazon that's from Germany and UK has arrived but the one here onshore I'm being ghosted! So frustrating. I only want a timefrime of when my stuff is getting shipped and theres nothing from them at all.

Has anyone had to deal with Galapower/Galax local warranty recently?

Upvotes

Hey guys, my Galax RTX 3070 died on me last week (black screen under load, fan spinning at 100%). It's still within the 3-year warranty window.

Purchased originally from MWAVE. Has anyone gone through the RMA process with them or Galax Australia lately? Are they doing quick unit replacements or dragging out repairs for weeks? Just trying to figure out if I need to source a backup GPU in the meantime.

$4280 build

This is the $3800 evatech deal on ozbargin. I was forced to upgrade some parts (sold out) and ai suggested upgrades on other parts.

The idea is to buy a 75 inch tv for it with a viewing distance of maybe 2-2.5 meters. Probably 70-80% single player and 20% multiplayer.

Going to be a majority of my money, but I can afford my rent so I’ll be ok. Should have bought a gaming pc 10 years ago so it’s been long time coming lol.

I’d also need to buy some extra storage maybe from marketplace.

If anyone had any comments recommendations or words of support that would be cool. Genuinely ready to press buy on this

Inwin P75F 8 pin (6+2) PCI-E Cable

Hi all,

I very recently bought a new Radeon 9070XT but found out my Inwin P75 box had been chucked out. I believe the second PCI-E cable went with it.

I'm making do with the one cable that splits into two, however I want to find an actual replacement before I use my pc for anything that consumes a lot of power. Is there somewhere that I could find a replacement cable, or am I just better off buying a completely new PSU (in which case I'd upgrade to a 1000W PSU).

Thanks.

edit: Inwin P75* not P75F

9800x3d price thoughts

Thumbnail amazon.com.au
24 Upvotes

Been eyeballing the linked 9800x3d from Amazon, $570 with free shipping. I don't really need one right now but with prices for other parts going up, I wonder if it's worth grabbing while it's this low (noting it's been steadily declining in price for a while).

Grateful for thoughts, any reason we should expect CPUs to stop coming down? Thanks.

Edit: current setup is already AM5, running a 7500F alongside 32GB DDR5 and a 9070XT

How thick is your desk and did it affect your monitor arm choice?

I’m about to order a monitor arm and realized I never checked how thick my desk is. Mine is around an inch thick, and I have a metal brace underneath, so I guess the clearance is tight.

Right now I am looking at the Atdec, also Desky and UpDown Desk, but I’m not so sure about the clamp specs.

I just don’t want to risk ordering a monitor arm that won’t fit and having to return it because of the clamp fit. Should I just ask the seller to be sure before ordering?

Which NVMe SSD should I purchase?

This thread is a follow up to my recent thread about upgrading my PC. My PC now has the following specifications after replacing the CPU, GPU and motherboard last week.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (cooled using Cryorig H7 Ultra)
Asus PRIME B550M-K ARGB
Team T-Force Dark 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz CL16 DDR4
Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9060XT 16GB
Samsung 840 Pro 256GB
Hitachi 2TB HDD
Corsair RM650x PSU

I'm still looking to replace the Samsung SSD with a 1TB NVMe SSD as the OS and apps drive. The newly installed Asus motherboard has two M.2 slots. One slot supports PCIe 4.0 while the other supports PCIe 3.0.

From what I've read elsewhere, the Samsung 990 Pro 1TB seems to be the top option for PCIe 4.0, but those cost around $400. What should be my minimum requirements for read/write speeds, TBW and other features when looking at cheaper alternatives?

Buy 9070 now or wait for sale?

Is it worth paying $899 and getting an RX9070 or do you think it’s worth waiting for a sale?

It’s already risen from $869 from yesterday lol.

I know some stores have it cheaper but I find Amazons warranty / easier far less of a headache.

First time owning and building a pc here. I was looking through ssd on pcpartpicker and the 9100 pro is $100 cheaper than the 990 pro for 2tb. I thought the 9100 pro is better than the 990 pro, is there anything I’m missing?

Is Gen5 worth the extra cost for a gaming PC? Comparing these 2TB SSDs

Post image
6 Upvotes

I'm putting together a gaming PC and I'm comparing a few 2TB NVMe drives before deciding what to go with.

The Biwin Black Opal X570 PRO is one of the Gen5 options I'm considering, along with the Samsung 9100 PRO and Kingston Fury Renegade.

My main use will be gaming, Windows and general everyday use, with occasional large file transfers. I'm not doing anything particularly heavy that would require workstation-level storage.

For those who have experience with Gen4 and Gen5 SSDs, is the extra cost actually noticeable for gaming and normal use, or would you save the money and go with one of the other options?

Inquiry about Nebula PC's...

I recently bought a prebuilt from their website through an OZBargain promotional deal, and I've been waiting well over 4 weeks for them to update the status of my order. However I've been doing a bit of reading lately on recent forums and a lot of the reviews are mixed...

Some people say they bought their PC's from Nebula, however they ended up needing to be repaired/returned because components not working properly, (i.e. motherboards not being compatible with systems, or the CPU overheating because they forgot to take the protective plastic off before sticking the thermal paste down) not even a few months after they received them.

It's weird because most of the reviews I read at the time were positive, (allegedly they were botting reviews and removing negative ones from their website) but now that I'm seeing people talking about their "horrible" experience with them, I'm starting to grow anxious.

And I would try building my own PC because I know about most of the components I need, software, GPU, CPU, coolant etc. But I just cannot trust myself with that kind of responsibility, so building one is off the table. And yes I'm aware that you can get people to build your PC for you if you have the parts and the money, but buying parts individually takes literally months of scraping through Amazon and other tech companies, I don't have that amount of patience.

I honestly just want some good advice, I'm unsure if I should cancel my order and go back to looking at other deals and (hopefully) come across a PC that's in my budget, or if I should continue waiting and see what happens. I've already blown all my money on getting a new PC as the one I have now can't run the games I want to play, while it's not necessarily a bad PC, I just want to be able to play the games I've always wanted to play but couldn't because I couldn't afford a high-end build.

If there's anyone here that'd having the same issues as me with their customer service or recently got their PC from them and wanted to leave a review, please tell me, I'm honestly terrified of getting scammed as I already got scammed numerous times in the past with people trying to upscale shitty builds for 100% of the original price.

Need help picking DDR5 RAM

I’m building an AM5 9800x3d system. I’m trying to find a 2x16GB 6000mhz DDR5 ram kit. I haven’t chosen my motherboard yet.

This Corsair Vengeance 6000mhz CL36 kit seems to be the cheapest I can find at $600 - https://www.amazon.com.au/CORSAIR-Vengeance-6000MHz-High-Performance-Desktop/dp/B0FV3M2PGJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_240

I haven’t seen great reviews for Corsair RAM. Is it worth going up to $700 to find a better kit? Anyone else built recently, what did you go with?

I appreciate a lot of people may comment that RAM is too expensive, but I need this build and if I wait longer it will be even more expensive.

Need some advice on first PC build

Hi all,

I’ve been running a 10700K + 2080 Super since covid on a UWQHD monitor and looking to upgrade to a new PC.

Given the whole RAMageddon situation, it’s probably not the best time to be building but it doesn’t look like prices are going to come back down anytime soon, so figured I may as well bite the bullet.

I’ve put together the below parts list which comes in just under $3,200 and seems pretty reasonable.

PCPartPicker Part List: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/mgnm3R

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor
  • CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 Vision SNOW 92 CFM CPU Cooler
  • Motherboard: MSI B650M GAMING PLUS WIFI Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard
  • Memory: Crucial Pro Overclocking 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory
  • Storage: Crucial P310 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
  • Video Card: Asus TUF GAMING OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB Video Card
  • Case: Lian Li A3-mATX MicroATX Mini Tower Case
  • Power Supply: Corsair RM750e (2025) 750 W Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
  • Case Fan: ARCTIC P12 56.3 CFM 120 mm Fans 5-Pack

PCPartPicker is showing a compatibility issue with the gpu and case though I’ve read it should fit!?? Would appreciate some confirmation before I pull the trigger.

Also it's my first time building so i'm keen to hear what you guys think of the overall build and whether there’s anything I should be looking out for.

Looking for a pre-built in Aus for around 4-4500

Looking for a pretty good work station that I can use for gaming, data analysis work (plan to do several courses on some pretty advanced data analysis builds), uni work, media importing...

Basically I want a competent game station but also a work station too. A bit of a multi purpose system. I've used Claude Ai to help narrow down some builds and while I'm sure it's incredibly imperfect, it would have done a better job than me.

Here are some builds I have found.

https://www.nebulapc.com.au/products/luna-eclipse

$4400

https://aftershockpc.com.au/products/zeal-lvl-8-pro-r7-7800x3d-rtx-5070-ti-32gb-p3-rts-sr-08-zeal-p3

$4200

https://www.pccasegear.com/products/72966/pccg-demon-ryzen-7-9800x3d-rtx-5080-16gb-32gb-ddr5-gaming-pc-windows-11

$4700

Of course depending on where you read, all these companies can be a bit dodgy and unreliable so I'm not really sure what to do or where to go. If any of these builds stand out to you guys or anything elsewhere that you may have recently purchased yourselves or eyed off, then I'd really appreciate it.

Intel i7-12700F

Hey all,

I’m looking for a used Intel 12700F CPU, does anyone know where the best place would be to look? I want to upgrade my current CPU but don’t want to reward Intel for their behaviour by buying new.

NB: I don’t think I’m breaking the “no personal sales/used items” rule of this sub, but correct me if I’m wrong.

Table Recommendations

Heya bapcaus crew.
What tables would you recommend?

My goals are white and atleast 180cm wide and 80cm deep. However I am also interested in a metal top. Manual standing or automatic standing would be a nice feature but it isn’t needed (as long as the table is tall enough) and I really don’t want too thick a table (as I want to put my G29 racing), but like also strong enough to hold my monitor, tower and imac.

If anyone has good recommendations it would be greatly appreciated. Budget is preferably under $400Aud, however picks above are also chill. Im Perth if that helps.

Thank you so much in advance

Is this a good change??

Oh good ol Reddit please help me with my problems.

I recently bought a prebuilt pc from Nebula PC, and it’s my first pc so I don’t know much about whether or not a component is good or average, so I just bought one that had decent specs compared to others in its price range (~1.6k)

So I went ahead and purchased ARCANE: RYZEN 5 5600 | RX 9060 XT with the following:

- Nebula N6 Micro ATX Case - Black
- AMD Ryzen 5 5600 | 4.4GHz | 6 Cores | 12 Threads
- GIGABYTE B550M DS3H AC R2 Micro ATX
- SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 9060 XT OC - 16GB
- 16GB NEBULA APEX RGB (2x8GB) 3200MHz DDR4 - Black
- 1TB Lexar NQ790 M.2 NVMe [R: 7000MB/s | W: 6000MB/s]
- DeepCool AG400 G2 ARGB CPU Cooler Black
- GIGABYTE P650SS 650W 80+ Silver
- Windows 11 Home (Activated)

To be brutally honest I have no idea what the “upgrade” is cuz all my research was on RAM and GPU.

Idk man does the upgrade and substitute sound alright to yall?

Edit: I emailed back confirming the change and asked about the GPU just in case it was supposed to be something else, but they didn’t reply and instead I got another email by auspost saying the pc is shipped out. Hopefully it’s the same and it’s just an email writing mistake— I’m expecting the PC on Wednesday sooo guess I’ll see

CentreCom refused refund under ACL. Fighting it was far easier than I expected, here's exactly what I did and how you can to!

Greetings all. Long post but I want to get this out there because I nearly gave up about four times and I shouldn't have. If you're stuck in a warranty fight right now, it's genuinely easier to push back than I thought it was.

TLDR: my GPU degraded over a year, Centre Com refused a refund for five weeks and told me in writing some stuff that just isn't true under Australian law, I served a Final Notice through the Magistrates Court for $27.75, and they paid the full purchase price the day before it expired. Never had to file anything more or go to court.

The Fault!

I had a Palit RTX 5070 Ti, bought March 2025, $1,648.55. Six months in it started crashing. I assumed it was drivers because... well... Nvidia, they have been screwing up their drivers these past few years, and I spent months on it. Eight driver installs, DDU clean installs, rollbacks to versions the card had been fine on before, BIOS update, chipset, Windows. Nothing fixed it.

Then I recognised a pattern in my event logs. nvlddmkm, event 153. One or two a month late 2025, 24 in January, 49 in the first 19 days of July. 219 total. progressively getting worse over time pointing to a degrading hardware pattern.

I capped the core clock below its rated boost (nvidia-smi -lgc 210,2400). Three days of heavy use including two streams, zero events. Took the cap off, crashes again. Same PC, same drivers, same everything.

Also found a way to trigger it consistently. OCCT VRAM test at stock puts the core around 2850-2880 at light load and it faults in 5-10 minutes. Did that seven times with telemetry running and every single time the core was spiking into its top boost bins right as it died. So, I lost the silicon lottery this time. The card couldn't hold its own factory clocks anymore.

The Refusal!

I won't dump my entire email history but here are some... interesting responses I received back.

- assessment is "carried out exclusively by the manufacturer or supplier's authorised technicians, who are responsible for... determining... whether any fault constitutes a major failure"

- "Supporting documentation alone is insufficient for a warranty determination"

- "Centre Com does not have the authority to bypass or alter the manufacturer's warranty process"

- "repair or replacement will always be prioritised where available. A refund is not an automatic outcome"

- It has to go to Palit's overseas facility, "7-10 business days", then "2-3 weeks", then "may be extended", then timeframes "outside Centre Com's control"

- ignored multiple EXPLICIT requests for escalation to the manager ("For the record: this is now my third request for escalation to your warranty manager or management.")

That is not the law here! MSY got fined $750,000 by the Federal Court in 2017 for saying things like that (ACCC v MSY Technology). I didn't know any of this when I started, I just looked it up as I went.

Solution and Tips!

  1. Don't say "warranty claim" and if they say it to you, don't acknowledge it as such. Your claim is against the retailer under the ACL consumer guarantees (s259), not the manufacturer's warranty. Their RMA process and overseas facility have nothing to do with the retailer's obligations, and s64 says those obligations CAN'T be modified by any process.

  2. Work out if it's a major failure (if knowledge of the fault would stop a reasonable consumer from purchasing) (s260). If it is, you pick refund or replacement, NOT them.

  3. Reject the goods in writing under ss259(3), 262, 263 and say which remedy you're electing. Rejection is something you do, not something they approve.

  4. Give the goods back (s263(2)). I fought this for a week because I need a GPU for work and I was wrong to. Consumer and Business Services wouldn't touch it while I still had the card, and my claim wasn't finished until I'd done my half. This is the point that will sting for people, for me I purchased a new GPU immediately and had to wait for a refund, I understand some people that's not possible.

  5. If your situation is unique, get free legal advice, Legal Services Commission SA, 1300 366 424. Every state has one. They can't tell you if your case is strong but they'll walk you through the process.

  6. Serve a Final Notice (Form P1) through CourtSA. $27.75 online. Exact same argument I'd been making for two weeks, except on Magistrates Court letterhead with a 21 day clock. A week later a manager rang me and said out loud that the refund would happen and that it was my right under the ACL.

Money landed the day before the notice timeframe, but make sure it's correct!

It came back $19.55 short, which was exactly the 1.2% card surcharge I'd paid. One email pointing at s263(4)(a) (the refund is of the money you paid, not the ticket price) and they agreed to it, so I got the full $1,648.55. They wouldn't pay the $27.75 notice fee back because it's a cost not part of the refund, and I'm not going to fight over $27.75.

What scared me!

I thought this needed potentially a lawyer, months, and a courtroom. It needed one $27.75 form, an email with the right wording in it, and a free 20 minute phone appointment, and I didn't even need that phone appointment. Minor civil claims here are built for exactly this, lawyers are actually not allowed at trial in most cases.

Honestly I spent way more energy being scared of the process than the process actually took. And I nearly quit heaps of times, usually right before something worked. Getting stonewalled doesn't mean you're wrong. Reading everyone else's stories afterwards it looks a lot like a process that just runs until the customer gives up.

Join The Fight!

I went looking to see if it was just me and it isn't. Stuff going back to 2023 on here, ProductReview and Trustpilot, all the same shape. Refund refused because a card was "over 1 year old". Someone told "MSI get to decide whether this is our fault". A card that caught fire at one month old still went through a three month manufacturer process. A "2-3 week" estimate quoted to at least five different people and met none of them. No fault found results against video evidence and against their own previous repairs of the same fault. Refunds paid short until chased. And their own tax invoices have the required line printed on them: "You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure."

I've reported it to the ACCC with the whole email chain attached, reference accc-report:0168263. They don't fix individual disputes but patterns are what they act on, and the MSY case started that way. If you've had something similar with any retailer it takes ten minutes to report and the second report against a name counts for more than the first.

If you're in the middle of one of these right now, you're not being difficult and you're not imagining it. I was lucky I had the time and the logs to do it properly, but the actual fight was much smaller than I built it up to be in my head. Ask me anything, happy to share the wording I used.

Please, reach out if you want to know my experience or any more details.

help building a pc

hi, wanting to get a new pc but not sure where to start. requirements are:

can run games like overwatch, league of legends, valorant etc (doesnt need to be super crazy fps), i dont really play AAA games so it doesnt have to be anything super high end

i've had consistent problems on my old PC with C drive storage, i originally had 70gb storage and it got full so my computer was slow, then upgraded to 110gb storage and got full again, so i would like minumum 300gb storage for C drive and ideally 2TB+ on another storage drive

budget is around $2000 AUD

please recommend! i would really appreciate any help or suggestions!

Thoughts on this as a High 1440p Build?

CPU: Intel Ultra 250KF Plus (maybe 250k for like $20 if I want an integrated GPU, not sure what I'd be using it for)

MB: Asus B860M AYW Gaming Wifi MATX

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB 5200mhz CL40

GPU: Gigabyte Gaming OC RX 9070XT

PSU: Be Quiet! Power 13M 850w

Case: Lian Li A3 MATX

First off, I already have 3tb worth of NVME SSDs in my current rig that I will keep, so don't worry I haven't forgotten storage.

Looking between $2600-2700 for this. Reckon given pricing atm, not awful not great. Mostly playing 1440p BF6 and Cyberpunk, with some light CAD modeling and rendering with D5 Render on the side for work, which is why I'm going with intel for this, AMD just isn't the best at productivity work.

Can't justify the Nvidia tax for RTX 5070ti or 5080 when the 9070xt is seemingly the better purchase anyway.

Thoughts, comments, concerns and or recommendations?

Chair Suggestions: Moving on from mid-range mesh (Sihoo M57 Pro) - What did you actually end up buying in AU?

Hey all,

Currently looking to replace my chair after realizing the hard mesh/frame style (specifically tested a Sihoo M57 Pro) just isn't the right fit for my desk height and posture.

The mid-range chair market ($300–$600 AUD) feels like a absolute minefield of mixed reviews, and I'm trying to avoid playing chair-roulette again.

For those who moved away from budget mesh chairs or skipped them entirely:

What chair did you end up getting, and how has it held up over 6+ months?

Are you using a solid padded ergonomic chair, a gaming hybrid, or did you end up going second-hand high-end (Steelcase / Herman Miller)?

My use case:
Budget: Soft cap around $300–$800AUD
Usage: Daily PC gaming ( long seesions )
Specs: I am 170cm and 55-60kgs so i feel like a padded seat is best for me

Would appreciate real-world feedback on what's actually comfortable long-term rather than Day-1 Amazon reviews. Cheers!

Thanks Guys!
