Kroenke isn't exactly a saint.

Compared to Arte? Its like trading 1960 chevy that is curently on fire for a used beat up Corolla.

Im super happy

Right? Angels haven’t made the playoffs in over a decade. Even for teams I despise (not the angels), I acknowledge that’s far too long for fans to go with being in the playoffs of any sport. You just feel bad at some point

u/MakrQwegg St. Louis Browns 3h ago

until he moves the team a little closer to LA county in ten years

7

u/Mikeyxy Anaheim Angels 3h ago

And even then we'll take it.

u/misspcv1996 Philadelphia Phillies 2h ago

I don’t think you understand how badly Angels fans want competent ownership.

2

u/MakrQwegg St. Louis Browns 1h ago

I’ll never begrudge a long struggling fanbase.

3

u/fishchanka Minnesota Twins 2h ago

Then they can be the Anaheim Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim-Los Angeles

5

u/Jorgenstern8 Minnesota Twins 3h ago

Hell considering his history the man's gonna use half the Gulf of Mexico as a bargaining chip to move the franchise to and then probably do it when Cali rightly tells him to screw off instead of buying him a new stadium.

Yeah but his last four cars are looking pretty good:

I’m an Arsenal fan. Believe me. I’m well aware.

84

u/ItsResetti Los Angeles Dodgers 3h ago

I hate the dude but his teams win.

83

u/WolfGangDuck 3h ago

Rams, Avalanche, Arsenal, Nuggets all relatively stable and winning organizations. He has a pretty wide track record of success across multiple leagues. If I’m an angels fan I’d be ecstatic. He stays out of the way and gets them rolling.

6

u/Any-Question-3759 3h ago

The nuggets got lucky drafting a generational unicorn during a Taco Bell commercial. The FO has done everything to tank Jokic’s legacy since and he’s won despite the team.

21

u/Deuce_GM Toronto Blue Jays 3h ago

Well at least their drafted player won a chip and multiple MVPs

The Sacramento Kings have had neither or anything close so trust me it could be much much worse

-3

u/Any-Question-3759 3h ago

Yeah but I still wouldn’t call the Nuggets a stable or winning organization.

It’s like two bums and one hit the powerball and is now spending his winnings buying more lotto tickets.

-3

u/aksoileau Houston Astros 3h ago

Rams got lucky with getting a generational coach in McVay. The Rams in St Louis were an absolute dumpster fire before relocating and hitting on a coach not name Jeff Fisher.

13

u/StrategicCarry Detroit Tigers 2h ago

Hiring a generational coach is literally his job as owner.

1

u/aksoileau Houston Astros 1h ago

Well yeah, but they dont exactly grow on trees. He hit on McVay but had plenty of whiffs too.

8

u/WolfGangDuck 2h ago

Lucky? He was a 30 year old from Washington with a nice year of offense but absolutely 0 indication that he’d be able to run an entire team. They took a chance on him and now every coaching candidate is a McVay associate

2

u/LOVExLIFEx1994 Los Angeles Dodgers 3h ago

Why do you hate him? He’s been making the Rams elite

-8

u/liberator17 3h ago

Kind of.

17

u/NerdNoogier Anaheim Angels 3h ago

Not kind of. Every team he owns wins a championship

6

u/No-Gift-2350 Toronto Blue Jays 3h ago

You’re actually not wrong, he also has some of the best FO in sports too

20

u/ItsResetti Los Angeles Dodgers 3h ago

Arsenal - Prem champs

Arsenal women - Champions League Winners

Nuggets- NBA champs

Avalanche - NHL champs 2x

Rams - Super Bowl Champs 2x

It’s inarguably true.

-14

u/liberator17 3h ago

Probably a dodgers/arsenal fan like the typical bitch ass americans.

6

u/ItsResetti Los Angeles Dodgers 3h ago

I hate Arsenal along with most of Kroenke’s other teams but I can’t deny that they’re successful.

1

u/kroywen12 New York Yankees 2h ago

I mean, it's literally a statement of facts. I'm not a fan of any of those teams -- in fact I can't stand the Dodgers or Arsenal -- and I find Kroenke to be a total piece of work, but his teams have a great track record of success.

For a franchise that squandered Trout AND Ohtani, having a guy come in with a track record of success on the field is a huge deal. I'd be ecstatic if I were an Angels fan right now.

1

u/liberator17 2h ago

Definitely feels like recency bias.

u/-Typh1osion- Boston Red Sox 3h ago

He's not a saint but bruh, we're the champions of England right now.

2

u/TankDivision New York Mets 1h ago

Me desperately searching for the Gabriel miss gif but it isn’t there so just imagine it

-1

u/PartisanHack St. Louis Cardinals 3h ago

Gonna be the champions of LA when he decides Arsenal would look better playing at the Rams stadium.

u/WhatAmIDoingHere05 San Diego Padres 3h ago edited 2h ago

He has enough space left over on the Hollywood Park Racetrack land for a baseball stadium and the funds to build it (or the banks he's in bed with to loan him the money) tomorrow if he really wants to.

Guy whose team just won the premier league by being good at set pieces buys a team in a sport that is kind of only set pieces

1

u/burnsrado Los Angeles Angels 3h ago

Fill me in

u/NotASalamanderBoi Boston Red Sox • Wally 3h ago

They were stingy for some time and we were kinda shit. There was also a minority owner along with stories of them feuding regarding discussions of selling the club (a lot to go into there and I’m a little fuzzy on some of it). Eventually, the minority owner sold his shares to Kroenke.

Once he got full ownership of the club, he started investing heavily (mostly due to Josh Kroenke actually backing the club), and eventually we won the Premier League for the first time in 22 years and reached the UCL final for the first time in 20 years.

Suffice to say, the Angels are in good hands. Kroenke’s teams win. Rams, Nugs, Avs, Arsenal men and women’s teams.

Arsenal is really Josh‘s thing (Stan’s son)

u/AtWorkCurrently Boston Red Sox 3h ago

You fucking won the league

14

u/Salty_Dog3 San Francisco Giants 3h ago

I mean all his teams are very good right now + it can’t be worse than Arte

1

u/Zealousideal_Ride742 Los Angeles Dodgers 3h ago

Nuggets are sorta at a crossroads.

2

u/KeithClossOfficial San Diego Padres 1h ago

Nuggets have won a championship more recently than 2002. They’ve won a championship more recently than the Halos have made the playoffs period

18

u/skeptical_hatred St. Louis Cardinals 3h ago

Fuck Stan kroenke

15

u/WolfGangDuck 3h ago

Fuck Georgia Frontiere

7

u/OldOrder Atlanta Braves 3h ago

I mean, I imagine that older LA fans are also fond of saying 'Fuck Georgia Frontiere"

1

u/Ghosty_Spartan Los Angeles Dodgers 3h ago

Just like Stan did with the rams tanking them to give the reason of moving them out of St Louis came from the playbook Georgia used to get them out of LA it’s kind of ironic.

1

u/Faffing_About Chicago Cubs 3h ago

Why?

2

u/Wait__Who San Francisco Giants 3h ago

He’s mad Stan moved the Rams back to their home of 50 years in LA after the previous owner Georgia took them from LA.

2

u/Going2Arbys St. Louis Cardinals 3h ago

It’s more that he tanked the team for over a decade, rejected the city when it offered to help build what he was demanding, then blamed St. Louis for not being good enough fans

2

u/KeithClossOfficial San Diego Padres 1h ago

It’s more that he tanked the team for over a decade, rejected the city when it offered to help build what he was demanding, then blamed St. Louis for not being good enough fans

Change he to she and St Louis to LA and you have the reason the Rams were ever in St Louis in the first place

0

u/Going2Arbys St. Louis Cardinals 1h ago

Ok? I didn’t say LA fans can’t or shouldn’t hate Georgia

Lol bro is still salty. Who do you even root for? The chiefs?

Name a billionaire who is…but as far as someone to own the team, can’t be a lot of better options and miles better that Arte

1

u/datdudebdub Cincinnati Reds 3h ago

He's a billionaire. You don't get that way by being a saint.

1

u/JaQ-o-Lantern 3h ago

He's a horrible person but a damn good owner. He led the Rams, Nuggets, Avalanche, and Arsenal to championship titles in the last 5 years alone.

1

u/OldOrder Atlanta Braves 3h ago

Say what you will about the dude but he is one of the very few owners that didn't ask for tax payers to front the money for his stadium.

1

u/Khada_the_Collector Kansas City Royals 3h ago

Ask any Cardinals fan how they feel about Kroenke for all you need to know. Still, his teams do know how to win & be competitive (Arsenal in EPL, LA Rams in NFL, Avalanche in NHL).

If this is legit, perhaps Halos can have some hope…?

1

u/Apocalympdick MLB Pride • Rome Emperors 3h ago

Neither was Churchill

1

u/WestIsBest2019 San Diego Padres 3h ago

I mean, sure, but the teams he owns are all competitive and each have recently won championships.

1

u/AdoringCHIN Anaheim Angels • Rocket City Tra… 3h ago

Oh he's a piece of shit but he invests in his teams. This is incredible news for us.

1

u/OpportunityDue90 Arizona Diamondbacks 2h ago

He’s not buying the Angels to miss the playoffs with Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. Agreed he fucked over St Louis but the Rams have been competitive almost every year since they moved to LA.

1

u/ripkin05 Baltimore Orioles 1h ago

As a person?yeah no shit he's a billionaire. As a owner? His teams have won a superbowl and the NBA finals within the last 10 years and are the favorite to win another superbowl this year after getting what is probably going to be the best Dline in the history of football. If that's not good enough for you as an owner I can only assume your a Boston sports fan since y'all start throwing temper tantrums if you go 2 years without winning a world championship.

1

u/maverickhawk99 22m ago

Kroenke is fine. He’s an owner who’s willing to put money into a team and hire the right people while being hands off.

Not a coincidence his NBA, NHL and NFL teams have all won championships recently. Even Arsenal finally won the Premier League.
