Such an epic hit tonight! I just got a Deps night crawler top water lure (I love these kinds of lures) and it produced my biggest bass! Before this my pb was 5lbs on a Chatterbait

Big EZ gambler swim bait in goldrush fooled this one.

Caught this smallmouth in the in the same spot as the last fish I posted almost back to back, again off of topwater, the pompadour jr.

I bank fish and plan to pair with a St Croix MHF 7’ rod. I throw 1/4 - 3/8 oz lures ranging from chatter, spinner, swim jigs, small frogs, and whopper ploppers. I might throw finesse if I’m too lazy to bring my finesse rod. What do y’all think? If you have other reccs lmk. It just has to be a dark color with a glossy texture for grip

Edit: I’m already familiar with baitcasters. I currently have a Lews Speed Spool for this rod

I just recently got back into fishing after about a decade. I bought this diawa Sv tw from Digitaka. I did not realize it had a 32mm spool in it. What do I do with this. How limited am I by the spool size? Is this strictly for light tackle finess fishing?

I tried a popper this morning for the first time caught 3 good fish in a couple hours at sunrise. I feel like I finally understand search fishing vs. targeted fishing. I was using a rebel shad popper and working down the bank line. I could find the fish with that and switch to a chatter bait once I started getting bites. I usually catch a lot of dinks and this was the first morning I feel like I caught bigger fish on purpose. Is this what everyone does once they start to get better at fishing. I doubt I’m the first person to come up with this. Any input on similar things you do or things I could improve are welcome. Would say I’m an intermediate bass fisher just getting past the point of being mad at my equipment every time I go.

Long time lurker figured I'd add something to the page. The bite has been slow this summer in Okeechobee and other parts of Central Florida due to poor water conditions and "lake management" like spraying weeds and killing the vegetation, but I managed to get a 5LB, a couple 4s and bunch of other randoms. My dad is a guide on Lake Okeechobee and we have been trying to get my PB this summer (need 8LB+). Hopefully I'll be able to post that soon ! I'm looking for fishing buddies in the Daytona area if anyone here is local hit me up!

Been fishing for 4 months. Taught myself on a bait caster as bass fishing is everything in the south. Coming from the PNW im having a blast. And BP gear protection plan is next level plus if is Johnny Morris it has a 2 year no questions asked warranty and the poles i believe have a 10.

BP reels come from the same manufacturer that makes Lews top end reels. Check it out dont but cheap. You will get cheap. Each my reels were just shy of $200 each. So far in 3 months since I caught the first one im up to 33 landed with a PB of just shy of 3lbs.

Not big on worms or finesse but I am learning to have patience. I love a paddle tale. 🥃🎣🫡🌅

Cleaned out few of my old vintage boxes. Found some cool ones to share. Anyone remember these ?

First time accidentally gut hooking a bass. First time eating largemouth bass. First time attempting to filet a fish (did the best I could my knife sucked). It was super windy and I didn’t feel them bite initially. I gut hooked the bigger one first, then the smaller one, after that I just called it quits and took them home. Taste wise not terrible. Kind of bland. Bluegill are definitely better. I wouldn’t fish to eat largemouth but the meal came out pretty good.

Why are frog rods typically longer than average casting rods?

Anyone throw the magnum squares, such as the KVD 8.0?

If so, are you still trying to cover water or more target casting?
