Renovations finished last week but they finally put the linen cabinet doors back on today and I got some plants so now it’s Done-done.

We recently bought a house with a very 1980's bathroom - shiny gold fixtures, peeling yellow paint, old square tiles. We kept a lot of the old (the vanity, the sink, the tiles in the shower) but reworked it to be more fresh and vintage-feeling (our house is a 1935 Tudor). Really happy with how it turned out!

Hey everyone. These marks are on the caul on my bathroom floor up against the outside of the bathtub. This is where we usually exit the shower area. I am assuming this is black mold? Any recommendations on how to clean it?

I've noticed that bathrooms are weirdly sensitive to visual clutter. A few bottles around the sink, towels in the wrong place, something sitting on the counter, and suddenly the entire room feels messy.

Meanwhile, the rest of the house can have actual clutter and somehow not bother me as much.

Maybe it's because bathrooms are usually smaller, but I really notice the difference when everything has somewhere to go. A few minutes of putting things back can make the room feel completely different.

I'm looking to remodel a walk-in shower and a shower-tub combo in my condo. I have no idea what materials to use. I'd like to keep cost low, but doesn't have to be the cheapest thing ever. I'd prefer low maintenance and easy to clean, but I'm open to options. I'd like it to look nice overall, but doesn't have to be the most luxurious thing ever. I think I'd prefer the surround to go up to the ceiling, which is 92". I'd also be interested in replacing the tub in the combo. I'd like to install a niche, but ok without it. Lastly, I'm considering installing myself to save on cost, but open to options that might have a lower installation cost.

What materials would you recommend? Tile? Something like Castico/Onyx? Acrylic panels? Stone slabs? Something else? I'm a newbie.

This half bath is right off the kitchen. It's currently this light beige/gray. The kitchen has a dusty blue backsplash (like the lighter blue option) and is a farmhouse style.

Should the bathroom stay beige/grey, go to the dusty blue to match the backsplash and farmhouse style, or go dark with the navy?

I had to renovate the bathroom due to a leaking shower. And by leaking I mean there was no waterproofing at all done by previous owners. By the time the renovation started, the damage was so bad that they found a large hole directly under the middle tile in the shower floor. Also turned out the window wasn't supposed to lean like that and had been gradually falling inwards since before I moved in a decade ago.

After almost 3 weeks it's finally finished. Got super lucky with the renovation company I hired. They're great at what they do, don't take advantage and went well beyond what I expected to get. For example, they installed wall insulation. Had no idea it was going to happen before I saw one of the men carrying it into the house.

I was expecting to pay well over the initial quote due to some choices I made in tiles and the massive mirror cabinet, plus all the extra damage they had to fix. Nope. It's a little more, but far less than expected.

Also got a washing machine and heat pump dryer combo which has so far been a massive improvement over my old seperate ones.

Between the layout change and the large mirror, the room feels much larger too. All up, in spite of the renovation being forced, I'm thrilled with the result.

Hi there, I'm doing DIY bathroom renovation,I leveled the walls with planitop fast 330 and a laser,did the plumbing, electricity,and now is the time for bathroom screed,my bathroom floor is 280cmx105cm, it's small,and I have topcem pronto drymudd mix , Bounded screed 5-3cm fall in wet zone,dry zone flat 5cm,I was wondering,what kind of slurry to make for topcem.I have Sika latex SBR available and eporip by mapei.Do you guys have any advice/recommendations?I'm DIY cuz I don't have any professionals around me.

I am redoing my master. We have a single sink vanity, in today's stuff it would be one sink base with a drawer base on each side. I am looking at a 5 or 6' complete unit depending on what dear wife chooses. I am debating buying a freestanding vanity unit or doing some RTA and getting a countertop and sink made. The rub on buying a unit that is a freestanding furniture style is that it terminates on one side into a corner... But would love to hear what companies you have used for either product. My algo on google etc. is now flooding me with options after searching a few times! TIA!

I’m currently renovating my 1927 Tudor I just bought.
Master bath is fully gutted with beautiful, finalized plans.
(Don’t worry, I didn’t destroy any original charm. It was a 1990s tragedy with a yellowed jacuzzi tub)

This pic is the upstairs hall bath that serves two of the secondary bedrooms.
I have no idea what to do with it.

The toilet is angled, there’s no shower, it’s tight, the pullchain is the only light, there’s no fan, and it’s just generally not functional.

Trying not to spend a TON on this bathroom since I am already going balls to the wall in the master bath.

Current thoughts:

-The black outline shows where we could steal a couple feet from the laundry room to create a little toilet alcove. Can’t be any wider because of roofline.
This entire bathroom is a dormer.

-Tub can rotate 90° to sit parallel under the window (with 1” to spare on each side)

-This would also allow for a longer vanity cabinet.

But I’m questioning: Do I keep the tub? I don’t really like clawfoots, but it’s original and it’s the only tub in the house.
I suggested adding a shower head and curtain to the tub, but my contractor is trying to talk me out of it because he says that always looks terrible, and I kind of agree.

It seems stupid to remove the clawfoot and put a more modern tub back in, and there’s not really a good spot for a walk-in shower. The space we can cut in the toilet alcove would not be big enough to be a shower.

We’re moving house in a few weeks from a house where we designed the bathroom (blue tiles) to the second pic. There’s just no room for storing bathroom items - hate seeing stuff out on display. Any ideas?

Any ideas for how to improve this bathroom visually? I own this house that I moved into last year and I’m finally wanting to paint the bathroom and make it look nice to look at. Vanity/mirror are new from previous owners so ideally I’d like to just paint and clean the tiles. I really like a mid century modern feel and it’s what I’ve been going for throughout the house.

Eventually I’d like to do a full reno…but any ideas on what color to paint?

Contractor replaced the tile on the floor. Now this is my wet shower - looking at walls, the bottom 6 inches or so of the tile’s wall grout doesn’t get wet, and it all looks kinda hazy on the tile as well- did he wipe caulk or silicone across it? Is that normal?
I don’t like it - instead of looking like a wet shower it looks like a dirty shower that needs the grout cleaned.

Just bought a house with a double vanity sink setup in the master bathroom. I've noticed when I use one sink, the drain makes a gurgling noise when draining. It drains at a normal speed. I also noticed the water level in the toilet bowl along that same wall is low. Is this a case of simple drain construction or would the toilet water level be indicative of a problem with the vent stack?

I just bought my first home and I don’t have the budget to renovate the bathroom yet. I do love the character of my new blue bathroom. But I need to decorate it to break up all the blue and put a nice touch to it. I need help on how to go about it. Any suggestion?
