Tuesday’s pickets will include several Kaiser hospitals throughout the Bay Area. Nurses are scheduled to gather at Fremont Medical Center from 6:45 to 8:45 a.m.; Oakland Medical Center and San Francisco Medical Center from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.; Santa Clara Medical Center from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.; San Jose Medical Center from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.; and Walnut Creek Medical Center from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

I’ve been fostering Purrince for 2 months now and want to help him find his forever home! He’s around 3 years old, 15 (!!!) pounds, and was rescued from Stockton. Purrince is very affectionate and not shy with strangers, he loves headbutting for pets or getting comfortable on my lap. He’s also a big fan of wand toys and catnip mice.

One thing to note is Purrince is FIV+ and has had most of his teeth removed. He can still live a normal, happy life and be alongside other cats with the proper introduction.

Phil Tippett, the visual effects artist who crafted aliens in "Star Wars" and dinosaurs in "Jurassic Park," held an estate sale this past weekend at his Berkeley-based studios after more than 40 years of business (AFAIK, April is fine, just the method he chose to sell everything off). A few photos I took. This man had a deep knowledge of… well, everything.

I just got an email to replace my old Fastrak toll tag. I drive into SF from Oakland 3-4 times a month, and let the license plate tag me, been doing that for (checks watch) years.

I dont see any downside, the toll is the same as whats posted (unless I'm missing something - likely). Does anyone have a good story about how woefully misguided i am?

Sorry but I just need to vent slightly. I am a big proponent of public transit and take it 2-3 days a week when I commute from SF to Sunnyvale. But today I was 0 for 2 on the Rapid 523 in Sunnyvale.

I grabbed the morning Caltrain southbound and arrived on time at Sunnyvale station. I stepped off and watched the 523 WB pull away from Sunnyvale transit center a good 7-8 minutes ahead of schedule. Had to walk 30 minutes to the office.

in the afternoon the bus left Lockheed Martin station 8 minutes late and I arrived at Sunnyvale Caltrain watching the NB train departing as I got off.

I love public transit and have been taking it since I was in middle school, but adding 30-40 minutes of commute in each direction on a already nearly 2 hour commute just makes me so frustrated and sad sometimes.

Curious what everyone here has installed and how you like it.

I recently replaced the HVAC system in my rental condo in Concord and went down a much bigger heat pump research rabbit hole than I expected 😂

I got several estimates and saw the usual brands: Carrier, Mitsubishi, etc. One of the systems I was considering was the Carrier 37MUHA, but while comparing equipment I discovered Midea and their EVOX 3 system.

What surprised me was how similar the Midea equipment was to some of the more expensive name-brand options I was being quoted. After comparing everything, I ended up going with the Midea EVOX 3 rather than paying extra for the brand name.

So far I'm extremely happy with it. It's incredibly quiet, the outdoor unit is compact, and because it's an inverter system it doesn't have that typical loud ON/OFF cycle of my old HVAC. It just seems to run at whatever capacity is needed and keeps the condo at a very consistent temperature.

Obviously it's too early for me to comment on long-term reliability, but so far I'm impressed — especially considering what I paid compared with some of the other quotes.

It also got me wondering how popular Midea actually is around the Bay Area. I feel like everyone knows Carrier, Trane and Mitsubishi, but I rarely hear homeowners mention Midea.

For those of you who have switched to a heat pump, what brand did you choose and why?

And does anyone here have a Midea heat pump that's been installed for a few years? I'd especially love to hear about reliability and your experience with it long term.

I'm torn between these two cities for my next move and loved how outgoing and helpful Chicagoans are and how much civic pride there is there. Does Oakland have the same feel in this regard? Thanks!

Addendum: female in her 50's who lived in Chicago three non consecutive years and lived all over CA for 25 years for work including LA for 9. Moving out of NM after 3.

No fever or sore throat, but chest congestion and extreme coughing for days on end. Felt like I busted my ribs and ripped my stomach muscles apart. Anyone else get something like this lately? I tested negative for Covid.
