Haircare I can’t afford the salon anymore. What ways can I avoid this looking like a complete mess?

It’s about 8 months of growth. I want to try to go to my natural color if you guys have any tips on color matching. I was thinking maybe a gloss would be best but truly have no idea.

Seeking Advice I bought Solawave thoughts?

After looking at it for way too long I finally ordered it. Now I’m doing that thing where I buy something and immediately keep researching it. Tell me what should I know and how often do you use it also did it become part of your routine eventually or if its hard to be consistent with these devices?

Thick straight hair

Can anyone tell me if a 3 barrel wave/crimp waver will hold a curl better? I have stick straight Asian hair that won’t hold a normal curl. I can do heatless curls but hoping for something like a waver to get some waves here and there. Looking before wasting money 😂

Discussion Neck lines

Ladies, do you have lines on your neck? If so, what do yours look like? How did you get them? How do you feel about them? Do you like them, or dislike them.

Personally, I love having neck lines. I think they look so beautiful. The more there are, and the deeper they are, the more beautiful they look.

What do y’all think about neck lines?

Fragrance Want to be the girl who leaves a trail - body lotion recs to layer under Cheirosa 62?

You know that kind of girl that passes by and leaves an amazing trail that you inhale and feel yourself being transported by because of how heavenly she smells ? That's my current goal.

My boyfriend got me my first official young woman (i am now 20) body spray (aka perfume) : sol de janeiro, 61. It. Smells. Heavenly. It smells so good, I adore it, mixed with the skin it smells amazing.

Now, I've developed an addiction to the thought of smelling good. I've read and seen some posts on Reddit already, where people mention having great hygiene, using Vaseline before applying perfume, and having hygiene body-related products that typically incorporate similar notes that the perfume has, in order to layer it.

As fall approaches (i can't wait), I have been developing this dream of becoming a literal smell-good candle. I want to feel good, and to smell good.
For that, I'd love to get myself a great body lotion (or even a shower gel), but for now I need to finish my fragrance-free, and soap-free shower gel !!

So, my research is focused on two things :
1. a body lotion that would be good to layer with my Sol de Janeiro 62 body spray (I am thinking Vanilla, but I am open to any ideas) - that wouldn't be too expensive (not over 30 euros) and that would smell good (duhh)
2. any sort of perfume recommendations for fall/winter, because I'm not particulary willing to keep wearing my "summer vibe beach day" perfume while i'm drinking hot chocolate (even though I could, there's no issue with that). I like sweet smells, soft smells, something a bit woody. Give me any suggestions ! I want to become a caramel candy, chocolate cinnamon muffin. Or, truly, something that really evocates autumn vibes (forest, rain, the smell of a fire being lit up in the wind..)

THANK YOU

Is using sunscreen after skincare ok?

I'm using d'alba UV Essence vita c for sunscreen after using coscell vita c capsule.

Problem is, the coscell product is already slippery enough, but so is d'alba sunscreen.

I'm afraid these two might mix instead of creating two seprate layers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Need hair advice

For a long time I’ve treated my hair like it’s wavy. I did a full curly hair routine every wash. it’s quite the process, and I have to let it fully air dry which takes forever but despite all the work I am usually left with some nice looking waves.

However it usually last a day or so and then starts to get super knotty. I can’t run my fingers through it, brushing it makes the waves fall flat. I can refresh them fairly well with a spray bottle but i Feel like it just starts to feel nasty and again with the knots. no joke there are pieces underneath that try to dread themselves lol

anyways I started wondering if maybe I shouldn’t try so hard to force my waves. if I just wash and condition and then let my hair just air dry all the way, it really ends up being like 70% straight with some hidden random waves in there. so It’s a lot of work to get them to stay.

a hairstylist told me once that my hair would blow out super well with an airwrap but those are soo expensive.
the second to last pic of my hair straighter is after I attempted some blow out hack on Pinterest. It was a fail.

i do kind of like the idea of soft flowing layers, like the examples in the last pic. But my hair is just so frustrating. Doesn’t hold a curl well from a curling iron, it falls flat super quick, and it’s so thick and so many baby hairs all the time, it gets poofy easily…idk if I could ever find a routine to keep it that beautifully polished looking. Idk I’m feeling so discouraged in trying to keep it looking pretty 😭

anyone have any ideas or have a hair type similar to mine because I can’t figure out how to handle it lol

Seeking Advice Help with my awful brows

Thank god for brow pencils, when I pencil them in they look good but I get so sick of doing it everyday ! I tried rapid brow but my dark circles started getting worse so I chucked it out. I don’t want them microbladed due to them fading to a grey/brown colour. What else can I do?!

Seeking Advice Red light became my favourite ten minutes of the day. What are you using?

I started it for skin and stayed with it because it’s the one part of my routine that feels like sitting down rather than another task. Now I’m wondering whether I under-bought and should have gone bigger. Curious what other people are using, mask or panel, and whether you’d size up if you were starting again.

Seeking Advice Strongest eyebrow tinting brands that stain skin?

I was wondering what semi permanent brow tinting brands you know of that stain skin and give a cooler/ashy brown toned base as opposed to warm reddish base.

I have used reflectocil but it doesn’t stain skin as well, and currently using just for men (have tried light and medium brown) but it also doesn’t stain as well.

Discussion How do I smell like baby powder?

Hi all. In terms of fragrance I prefer soft oud smelling perfumes, but for body care I love baby powder clean floral scents.

Does anyone have any recommendations of things I could try? Thanks :)

Seeking Advice Trying to look more sharp, and put together.

So I just turned M18 a couple months ago; and I’ve always been an athlete. One of the biggest things I’ve dealt with is just the constant dirt, and sweat causing black heads and white heads and sometimes not smelling great, so I come here to seek advice on some skin care stuff in specific areas, and any other advice I don’t want to use the word more attractive, but just cleaner and put together smelling nice, and such. I was always the kid that never really cared about what I dressed like or how my hair looked, but I really want to make it an emphasis to improve on that.

So I’ve dealt with tiny white heads around the chin

Black heads around the lips and middle of the forehead

And a mix of both in between the eyes

Seeking Advice i am a female and i have a sort-of visible mustache

i’ve always had a mustache since i was a little kid, and i have dark hair so it makes it kind of visible. it makes me really insecure because people always point it out and my face isnt as pretty and dainty as the other girls because of it

im hesitant to shave it because my dad shaves his mustache regularly and now it’s like a very dark and very hard stubble, and that’s definitely not what i want.

edit: i appreciate all the replies! what worked best for me is using an eyebrow razor/dermal razor to gently shave off my mustache. thank you friends!

Seeking Advice help a sweaty maid of honor out please. wedding in 2 months!!

Im the maid of honor in an outdoor wedding this fall and I already know I’m going to sweat through sheer anxiety alone lol. Normally I’d just use sweat pads and call it a day, but the dress fabric shows EVERYTHING so that plan is officially dead. I also have a speech, social anxiety, and apparently my body is sprinkler when Im nervous. Ive always been this way but I honestly thought the dress was going to be more covered since its fall! But I just tried it out last weekend and its backless. The annoying part is my armpits are pretty sensitive, so I’m too scared to just go to target and buy 3 random sweat deos and testing them. I definitely did not help myself growing up either because I used to do those DIY lemon scrubs, glycolic acid, random brightening stuff, basically chemical warfare on my pits for years. So now I’m looking for something that actually helps with anxiety sweat without making my skin freak out. Ideally I need help with: armpits, chest/underboob area, and honestly down there too. Does anyone with sensitive skin have something they actually trust for events like this? I wanna smell nice but the most important thing to me is to be as dry as possible and no white stains. Ive seen product recos here but im so scared of it burning and itching. just wanna be comfortable

Discussion Makeup for a female Patrick Bateman??

Hi!

I’m planning on going as a genderbent Patrick Bateman for Halloween this year (both early to be planning, and cliche costume I know) and I want to try and do my makeup as similar to how he would do it if he were a woman, as opposed to just doing my makeup and wearing his outfit.

I’ve been looking at the makeup of the other women in Bateman’s circle and it seems to be quite natural looking sort of chic, but I don’t know much about the makeup trends of the late 80s so I’m curious to know what was popular at the time and was seen as “chic” (for lack of a better word).

Does anyone have any ideas, pointers or references I could look at?? I’d love to hear!

Thanks!

Best Hair Straightener/Flat Irons for Fine, Short Hair 2026?

What are the best reasonably priced straighteners on the market today that are a reasonable price for a quality, reliable, effective flat iron today?

I would like it to be able to straighten and curl my short, fine, wavy but silky hard to curl hair and not have a problem clamping down and applying pressure to fine hair. I’ve had straighteners in the past that are high rated and expensive but the iron did not actually clamp down on my hair so it would just slip out.

What are the best options at what price points? I’ll consider more expensive options but they have to be worth it for the price. Would love great options that are under $150-200 (or lower) as well though.

Seeking Advice For those with sensitive skin- Does anyone like me have/had really deep, big blackheads that they were able to get removed successfully? Addittionaly, what are the best ways to prepare the skin before going to a facialist.

I legit have not found an answer for this. It is something I have been living with but I can't take it anymore. Do people not know what to do to get rid of the bad ones or something?

I mean mine are like HUGE black dots that are very visible, and way more than "normal" like they're visibly atrocious.

That's it really. Last time I tried to get them all removed, the facialist had a hard time getting the mall out, and I broke out like crazy all over my nose. I have really large, black blackheads that everyone can see. They're really then worst I have ever seen on a person. I feel really stressed and sad that I have not been able to find a good facialist to remove them. I am also wondering if theres ways to prepare the blackheads to be removed. They are REALLY in there. My skin is dry. I don't know what makes it worse/better/ loosen in any way?

ANYONE that has had success stories, it would mean the world. And ways they prepared their blackheads to be removed before going to someone, if that's a thing I should do as well.

Makeup Foundation recommendations for dry skin please

I feel like I haven’t found my holy grail foundation yet. I have dehydrated/dry skin and I’m looking for one that will be at least medium coverage.

In my collection I currently have

Vieve skin nova foundation
Estée Lauder futurist hydrating foundation
Sculpted by Aimee skin tint

I like all of the above but feel like I want something with a smidge more coverage.

Also I am quite pale/cool toned so one that has good colour options.

I’ve seen online good things about the Nars foundation & Sweed.

What are people’s favs please?

Seeking Advice How to cover up cat scratches with makeup? EMERGENCY for Bride!

Post image
150 Upvotes

My sister is getting married in a week, and she accidentally got these scratches on her neck yesterday. She was holding her very nice cat, and something in her apartment fell, it freaked her cat out, and he jumped off of her, leaving these scratches marks. I’m doing her friday makeup. How do I attempt to cover this up? What products? Should she not get a spray tan? (Yes, she has taken care of the wounds and put Neosporin on it.)

Seeking Advice Does anybody have good bulk lotion recommendations because having dry skin is getting expensive in this economy!!!

I am looking for bulk lotion not just the biggest bottle of the ones I listed I need gallon sized lotion and you can bet your bottom I will use it before the year is out. Probably go through two of them even 😉

I prefer the Nivea in the big blue jar for face and body at $.73 an ounce, Aveeno $.55/oz, Gold Bond age renew $1.21 and Cera ve reg $.99/oz are also great options that work well for me. I also buy jojoba oil in bulk so if something's not oily enough I can change that but it has to be moderately thick. I cannot do a thin formula!!

I can do scents but I prefer unscented.

I have really dry skin and ichthyosis so I don't mind greasy or thick.

I just wear lotion clothing which are sets of clothing I don't mind getting lotion all over and let me tell you I am baby soft.

Discussion Does waxing get better? 🥲

Ive always shaved my bikini line but days later i get very visible ingrown bumpy hairs and rashes and im vacationing somewhere with a water park next week so I picked up those cheap waxing strips and did it myself and JESUS it hurt so bad but now im super smooth and no bumps yet, afterwards out of curiosity I searched up if I was doing it right and apparently youre supposed to use proper wax and go to a professional for a bikini wax 🫠 am I gonna get an infection or something? Should I go to a professional in future or tough it out again 😭
