What's the typical price range for beer on Rodeo Drive?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi guys,

Quick question for anyone who knows the Rodeo Drive area well. I know it's a bit of a touristy area, but these days, would paying roughly $9 -$10 for a pint of beer (around 480ml) be considered normal, cheap, or expensive?

I've only been to Beverly Hills twice, and that was about 4-5 years ago! So I'm guessing my info might be a bit outdated. Any first-hand input would be super helpful!

It's for a website called Travel Roulette, a roll-the-dice-style random travel destination picker. Each destination page shows some basic regional stats. Here's the page with all the stats for the Hollywood region: Travel Roulette - Hollywood

Thanks in advance!

anyone here actually happy with their dentist? feels impossible to find

been in LA for like 6 months now and i still haven't found a dentist i like. i've been to two different ones and both felt like i was just a number. you know that vibe where they rush you through the appointment and then try to sell you invisalign even though you came for a cleaning

my main issue is my bite is kinda off - my front teeth are wearing down from an overbite and i need someone who actually cares about function, not just making things look pretty. like i get it, cosmetic stuff is important too but i don't want to fix my smile if my bite is still messed up

i was looking at some Beverly Hills cosmetic dentists online and the before/afters look amazing ngl. but i'm always skeptical when everything looks too perfect lol. like are they actually good with bite issues !

anyway i'm probably overthinking this but if anyone has found a dentist who actually listens and knows their stuff i'd love to hear about it. bonus if they don't push invisalign on you immediately lol

is beverly hills ever going to fix their abysmal traffic lanes downtown?

majority of streets in downtown beverly hills are awful. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR ALL THESE LANES. it just creates a massive clusterfuck and its extremely dangerous.

beverly dr north of wilshire. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR 2 LANES.

they need to turn those parking spaces on both sides into diagonal spaces so 1. theres more room to park and 2. people know theres only one lane.

why are so many people in government so incompetent? everyone clearly knows downtown BH is a complete mess, why dont they fix it already?

Beverly Hills Opts Out of D Line/La Cienega Bus Lanes (Green Portion)

Post image
140 Upvotes

At today's WSCCOG meeting Beverly Hills announced that they will not be implementing the bus only lanes on La Cienega Boulevard within their city limits (the green portion of the map) that runs from Clifton Way south to Olympic Boulevard despite them still being built in West Hollywood, Los Angeles and Culver City.

The proposed improvements would bring bus only lanes, transit signal priority and queue jumps to La Cienega Boulevard La Metro Route #105 stretching from Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood south the D Line at La Cienega/Wilshire in Beverly Hills and further south to the E Line La Cienega Station in Culver City.

City staff didn't even bring the item to city council to vote on and per the council rep at today's meeting that decision was based on the fact the the one community meeting they held for it in Beverly Hills (out of 6 meetings total) didn't have enough attendance to warrant the implementation for the lanes despite the corridor recieving the most feedback out of any of the others for this project especially because it would have also provided a direct bicycle connection to West Hollywood as well.

Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment in Beverly Hills

Hey everyone - Southern California Wildfire Response (SCWR), the local wildfire department is currently recruiting new volunteer firefighters.

If you’ve been looking at getting into wildland fire, CAL FIRE, the Forest Service, LAFD, or fire service in general, this can be a good way to start getting training and experience while serving locally.

We train toward California FFT2 qualification and regularly work on things like Type 6 engine operations, hand crew skills, hose lays, wildland tactics, drills, and incident response. There are also opportunities to move into leadership and instructor roles as you gain experience.

You don’t need previous fire experience, but we are looking for people who are serious about training, showing up, and being part of the department.

We’re holding a recruiting night on Thursday, August 20 from 6:30–7:45 PM at 12601 Mulholland Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90210. You’ll be able to meet some of the crew, see the equipment, ask questions, and learn what the training and hiring process looks like.

If you have questions or would like more information, please don't hesitate to message me.

What was everyday life in Beverly Hills like around 1990?

Hello!

I'm doing a personal historical research project about everyday life in the Los Angeles area around 1990, and I'm particularly interested in the details that don't usually make it into newspapers or history books.

For anyone who lived, went to school, worked, or regularly hung out in Beverly Hills around 1988–1996, what do you remember?

I'm especially curious about things like:

  • 1 . What was dating and romance like back then? How did people usually meet, flirt, ask each other out, and stay in touch?
  • 2. Where did teenagers and young adults usually hang out after school and on weekends?
  • 3. What restaurants, stores, malls, cafés, parking lots, clubs, or other meeting spots were popular?
  • 4. What was Rodeo Drive and the Golden Triangle actually like around 1990? Was it somewhere locals/teenagers regularly went, or mostly associated with tourists and wealthy adults?
  • 5. What was Beverly Hills High School culture like? Were there distinct cliques or social groups? What kind of school gossip or rumors were common, without naming private individuals?
  • 6. Were there rivalries with other local schools or neighborhoods?
  • Which parts of Beverly Hills were considered especially wealthy or prestigious, and were there noticeable differences between different parts of the city?
  • 7. Were there nearby areas that teenagers considered rough, sketchy, or places they tended to avoid?
  • 8. How different did places like West Hollywood, West LA, Century City, Bel Air, Brentwood, Hollywood, etc. feel socially?
  • 9. What music, radio stations, clothes, cars, and brands were actually popular locally?
  • 10. What did a typical Friday or Saturday night look like?
  • 11. Without cell phones, how did teenagers make plans and find each other?
  • 12. Were house parties common? Where did people usually go to parties or meet people?
  • 13. Were there particular local businesses, hangouts, or characters that everyone seemed to know?
  • 14. How accurate is the stereotypical image of wealthy Beverly Hills teenagers in the late '80s/early '90s? What did movies and TV get right or completely wrong?
  • 15. What has disappeared from Beverly Hills that someone visiting today would never know existed?

If possible, please mention roughly what year(s) you're remembering and how old you were at the time. Even small or mundane details are useful.

I'm particularly interested in small, mundane details — the kind of things you remember from actually being there rather than things I could find on Wikipedia.

Different experiences and even contradictory memories are welcome. I'm trying to understand what Beverly Hills actually felt like to different people around that period.

Thanks! :)

Need a handyman? What app or site do you use to find your handyman?

I recently went back to doing my side gig as a handyman and wondering where everyone goes to find someone when they need small work done around the house. I've heard of tasker but want to cut out the middle man
