Figuring out Hawk Behavior

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Our Ring camera caught this and nothing else. We went to check the area a minute later and the hawk was gone. We found a 4-5 inch hole in the general area of this bush. Can anyone weigh in on this behavior? Does it seem injured?

This looks like the hawk tried to catch something in that bush but missed.

To add: I don't see any obvious sign of injury. This is a pretty common behavior in birds that dove in feet-first and missed, and are using their wings to either stabilize them or help right them as they fish around in the veg with their feet to see if they can make a last-minute grab.

Or it actually does have it but it’s not easy to extricate from the dense plants.
