Every single mode, from Core, Hardcore, to Party Mix is unplayable at the moment. At least we don't have to worry about C Sharp anymore? right? RIGHT? Joining a lobby to a max prestige hacker reading off everyone's IP addresses, to getting your personal information stolen as well such as your phone number and email. BUT DON'T WORRY GUYS YOU CAN PRE ORDER MW4 FROM THE MENU NOW!!!! This is the direct result of Microsoft hiring thousands upon thousands of unqualified fraudsters. I genuinely hope this company burns to the ground. I am refunding. Will update if I get my money back or not.

I'm happy to see the game is alive again on PS but unfortunately there are not a lot of active players on Xbox and the only playlists I've been able to get into are TDM and Hardcore TDM.

I've considered buying a PS4 just to get on and be able to find games easier as well as play other modes besides TDM. Does anyone think it's worth holding out for the Xbox player base to boom like PS or for the Xbox servers to get the same treatment?

I have not been able to find any official updates regarding BO1 or BO2 servers on Xbox

I don't know if this sounds completely stupid, but it really looks like nobody is hosting lobbies anymore. Could they be working on dedicated servers? Could that be why it's glitched?

I remember people being super confident this was hacker proof and dunking on Xbox and pc. But when I boot up all I get is free for all? Can we get refunds on ps5?

I'm completely fed up with this game. I'm sick of the snipers and the players running around with ridiculously overpowered pistols and shotguns. I'm over it; this is easily one of the most unbalanced Call of Duty games ever made. It's unbelievable that people like you consider it among the best; you should all be in a mental institution. The last truly great Call of Duty was World at War on the Xbox 360. Black Ops 2, without question, has the worst multiplayer I've ever experienced. The only redeeming qualities are the campaign and zombies modes.

I just died to one scar h bullet 10 times in one match. 1 bullet!!!! Some of those deaths i got shot in the leg.

Every match turns into free for all and score doesn't count?

Every single game mode loads as free for all. Why the fuck do people insist on screwing this game up in any way possible?

The only reason I purchased my PS5 was to play the BO1 and BO2 ports, but BO2 is completely broken/hacked and I can't play any of the multiplayer game modes I select. PlayStation claims that I'm not eligible for a refund because I've downloaded and installed the game, which is bullshit because there's no way to tell the game was hacked unless I downloaded and installed it. Any chance for a refund if I talk with an actual support person?

EDIT: I chatted with (supposedly) a "real" person and described the issue. They told me to pound sand (screenshot below).

In parallel, I called PlayStation Support, but there was a long queue, and I pressed the button to receive a callback. I just got off the phone with their support team and they also refuse to give a refund because I downloaded and installed the game. When I demanded my request get escalated to a manager/supervisor, they told me that I have 14 hours played in the game since purchase and there will be no hope for a refund at all. When I said that I was going to pursue a refund through my bank because this was a blatant bait and switch (pay for one thing and get something completely different), I was told that if Sony sees a chargeback for a purchase, they will brick/block my entire PSN account. Before ending the call, I got a refund for my PS+ membership which I only purchased to play BO2 multiplayer, but will apparently have to eat my $40 purchase of the game itself. Fuck Activi$ion. I'm completely done with the Call of Duty franchise and will never buy a game they publish ever again.

To keep it short all the game modes on the Bo2 ps5 + ps4 servers are compromised. If you try playing any game mode it just switches it to FFA or demolition.

What’s been changed:

Scoreboard-
When pulling up the scoreboard it only shows what the match classification is and time count down. No player information is shown unless you join without spawning in.

Time limit-
The time limit for an average FFA match is 10 mins.
For game modes that are shorter and longer this affects the matches as well. However there are some difference that will be explained in my other section

Usernames being white-
There has been an on going issue where players have fingered out how to change their usernames color or change it completely. Now all usernames are just white when they enter games. More on this later.

No class restriction on certain modes-
Game modes like sticks and stones have been affected. You’re not restricted to the weapon and can pick your own classes.

Gun-game weapons don’t change-
Self explanatory, the gun rotation doesn’t change every after kill. Instead it sets you to only have the mercenary class set up instead.

Match descriptions changed-
When you open the menu to select a class there will always be a sized up map and a description for how to win. In certain games the description has been changed.

Demolition/rounds ramping-
When you enter a game it can be changed to demolition, with the rounds going exceedingly high. The matches also go by SND rules where players only have one life with no respawn.

What hasn’t changed (to my knowledge at least):

Map Hud-
Testing each game mode and the only thing that stays the same are the map huds. For hardcore the map isn’t present and gun game still has its UVA ping once the match begins.

Map rotations-
Map rotations are still the same for whatever playlist you’re currently playing in.

What to avoid:

Nukejacked/200 points-
Avoid the playlist nukedjacked. There is a high density of modders on this game mode. The game modes have been set to ffa and threshold set to 200 points. They’re also some possibilities that you join a hacked version of demolition as well.

Read/Inspect players joining lobby-
When you’re in the map selection phase of READ THE PROFILES. A lot of the players I’ve seen are using throw away accounts with their ps5 profile bidding the games that they played. This of course is to hide their identity. Im not saying that they are cheating but it is suspicious to hide what achievements or games you played on your “burner account”. Almost like they don’t anyone back tracking them if they are found out to be cheating.

Avoid maxed out accounts/colored names-
Anyone who has a maxed out account and colored name is to be avoided. If you see this will in the map selection then just leave. Don’t risk the chances of getting your stats changed.

Kill count/game achievements-
Went over this before but this is specifically for in game. If you see anyone with 5,000 kills and maxed out, just leave. This also goes for achievements. For example if a guy has the master killer tag on without the kills its wraps.

Conclusion/Opinion on Why:

Tactic-
I honestly think they’re doing this to avoid any form of detection while they mess with the servers. The fact that the player tags are hidden once a game is active is telling. If they really wanted to they can find your IP address or just overload your router.

Personally, I would not touch this game at all in its current state. This goes beyond just stats cheating or modding the game. In Bo3 it was possible for hackers to find your ip and DDOS off your router. It’s the same on bo2. Just wait until a patch comes out or play something else.

Updates:

Regionally Theory (Sep 1, 2026)-
Some of the guys under this post have not seen or heard of these issues. The one I’ve spoke too are located in the EU or AU region. This could explain it since whoever the changed the game is playing from a North american region. Please add or mention anything under this post so it can be added, Thank you. 🙏

Vpns as a possible solution (Sep 1, 2026)-
Thought about it and think a vpn might work. Some of the brothers from the EU haven’t experienced too many issues with the changes. However, I don’t think this would be a good idea. If everyone goes to the EU then who’s to say a modder will try hitting that server as well? If any Us players try it just comment below, Thank you. 🙏

Hello everyone, I was playing today, I had over 120 of the challenges in the campaign and I was playing to do some backtracking of challenges and also trying to get the trophy "Good Karma", during mission 9 my psn session got disconnected, I'm not sure why but I didn't care and i just kept playing, suddenly the game crashed (like many times before).

When I started the game again and went back into the mission I didn't receive the trophy, also I noticed I was receiving the message from challenges completed, even though the only challenge I had left in that mission was the one to do the mission without dying.

When I was back in the menu after I finished the mission I only had 4 challenges completed in that mission, the rest of the missions completely vanished, no challenges, no mission scores, like I haven't done anything yet.

I only have one save, the one with the 4 challenges in mission 9. I guess I'm screwed and need to start over again, but this is nonsense and fucked me up badly.

My account is bricked but I want fresh start, the prestige rewards are completely corrupted and its so annoying.
Can someone help with this🥲

For those unaware, modders have been hosting lobbies for the past week and have been giving away free unlocks, camos, custom prestiges, platinum trophies, etc. However, the most significant thing they have been giving away is a cheat that gives the player an unlimited UAV, extended FOV, and highlights enemies on their screen. Anyone who has been in one of these lobbies will have a colored name tag and will most likely have the cheat enabled so I recommend just leaving the game if you see one. I have also heard that both the cheat and colored name go away once the player closes the game.
