My only parasocial relationship with Blank Check is that I really want to sit on that porch.
The porch is my Criterion Closet. I just want a picture sitting on that dang ass porch.
Put it in the back of a moving truck and tour it across America.

Very nerdy question about Coyote vs. Acme
Just saw Coyote vs. Acme (delightful!) and realized that, since Wile E. Coyote is both entirely animated and silent, there's no actor credited with playing the movie's titular character.
Are there any other instances of something like this, where a main/titular character has no actor playing or even voicing them? It's such a bizarrely specific scenario.

Boondock Saints and Observe and Report
When they were discussing Joker as a bad riff on Taxi Driver, I kept thinking about two movies are obviously direct descendants and maybe the best examples of the two extremes of this movie’s influence.
Boondock Saints is the epitome of “what if a moron watched Taxi Driver and made a movie”? Every dumb guy in my high school had Boondock Saints, Taxi Driver, and Fight Club in heavy rotation on DVD and obviously completely missing the point (I would include myself under that label btw). Watched it again for the first time in 25 years or so and it was almost unwatchably bad!
Observe and Report is a criminally underrated movie IMO and wears its Taxi Driver influence on its sleeve. That one still holds up and arguably is even more prescient today than when it came out.

real nerdy shit NYC Blankies: Nitehawk Park Slope ticket available (free)
Hi all, I’m a bit under the weather and going to see New York, New York at 8:45p is not going to make me feel better.
If you’re in town and would like to go (ticket is a back row single seat), just let me know via dm and I’ll send confirmation your way via email to check in with.
Would rather not sell/email nitehawk for credit, you just have to go (doors at 8:15, starts promptly at 8:45p) and have to enjoy. Someone on r/blankies gave me a Town Hall Ticket last year that really boosted a bad week.

Card Counter and Travis Bickle
I happened to watch the Card Counter around the same time as the Taxi Driver episode. While its said that a lot of directors, particularly Schrader, fundamentally tell one story over and over, this felt like a really intentional return to the character of Travis. Bill is the traumatized veteran, Cirk is the scared, angry child.
Particularly, the thesis seems to be that every generation gets its own version of Bickle, and the story is Schrader trying to save him. Basically looking for any way for this guy to escape his fate. Is there a world where Travis gets a real happy ending.

Anyone seen Fuze yet?
Just tell me that it’s decent. I’m so starved for heist movies that I’ll watch anything as long as it’s a Gentleman’s 6.

I'm not saying it's a good idea for a movie marathon, but an idea nonetheless: the less successful Robin Williams' 90's shmaltz!
Can you die from a whimsy overdose? I wanna find out!
