What is up with that voice? And those suits? Idk about you guys but it seems hella lot inspired from Scarface. Even some major scenes seem to be straight up lifted from that movie?

Why did they do this? And Amitabh being such a senior and respected actor didn't need to do this at all? Did they think no one India would ever find out?

I heard the audience hated Amitabh's voice and it was one of the reasons this movie flopped, is it true?

Wh....wh....what was that?

Wh..Wh..Why was cinema invented? Why did the Lumiere Brothers invent the camera? Why did Muybridge invent the zoetrope? Which human, on the history of this planet, decided it was a good idea to convey information through the use of moving images?

Whoever they were, I'd like to go to the past and show them Masti 4, in an effort to prevent this natural disaster caused by the opening of this proverbial Pandora's Box. Even if the resulting Bootstrap Paradox were to cause the end of reality as we know it, I believe it would be a worthy price to pay so as to not subject any life form out there to the horror that is Masti 4.

Here are some of the "jokes" in this movie. (BTW I forgot the character's names, I'll be calling them VO <Vivek Oberoi>, RD <Riteish Deshmukh> and AS <Aftab Shivdasani>)

• A cobra bites a man's penis
• Three babies named Amar, Akbar and Anthony (Anthony is white for some reason) urinate on VO
• RD puts his hands inside a bedpan with poop in it. He then rubs the poo on VO and AS's face, before rubbing it on himself
• A bunch of AI animals start humping RD
• A character's name is 'Rosemary Karlo'.
• RD and VO smell AS's farts and try to deduce what he ate for lunch.
• AS (who is supposed to be a doctor) uses two clothes irons as a defibrilator, and somehow removes a guy's nipples
• RD and AS are supposedly inside an AI Horse. Another AI horse then starts to hump this AI Horse, and we then cut to a hospital scene where AS's hips are really big. I'm guessing the horse is supposed to have penetrated AS, but I'm not sure, RD and AS were shot inside a pretty large black room, and I'm not sure how anything, let alone a Horse Penis would've been able to make it through.
• All the characters are aware that the title of this movie is 'Masti 4', and that the title of the previous movies were, 'Masti', 'Grand Masti' and 'Great Grand Masti'. They mention it constantly. It's actually the opening lyrics of one of it's songs.
• At the end, when apologizing to their wives, the characters literally say "We will not do Masti 5". And then, they look back, wink at the camera and the words 'Masti 5' come on-screen. It's the last shot of the movie. I've been less scared of horror movies than I was at this moment.

Yes, these are actual things that happened in the movie. I am not making these up.

Films like KGF, Pushpa, Animal, and Marco are all, in one way or another, inspired by Agneepath. They have certain elements and sentiments that were already present in Agneepath. For example, KGF and Pushpa have the whole journey of the main character going from poor to rich and powerful, along with the emotional bond with his mother, all of that was already there in Agneepath. The kind of violence we see in Animal and Marco was also present in Agneepath in a very similar way. And there are hundreds of other films that Agneepath has inspired in one way or another.

Why bollywood stopped making such movies like these. which have horror, thriller and mystery all of these elements together!

Just like in movie "KAUN" the starting feels like that there is a horor then it eventually took a turn,then in "krishna cottage" we have mystery and ghost as well,in "DARNA MANA HAI" and "DARNA ZAROORI HAI" it again has thriller,and horror and also with "SAAYA" as well it was mystery and horror as well, now we are mostly getting either crime thrillers,remakes,or horror comedy, but such 2000s films were really something and i love all of em.

Honestly, what makes the Swades pairing so cute is that it strips away all the typical SRK rom-com fluff . She’s not some damsel waiting to be saved; she literally slaps him when he crosses a line, so he actually has to work for her respect, which feels refreshingly real. Their chemistry is built on quiet arguments about progress vs. tradition and a calm, understated "I think I love you" rather than loud background music and over‑the‑top drama. Plus, the romance is just a natural side‑effect of his bigger mission to fix the village water issue, making it feel organic and way more relatable than any of his flashier pairings.

Im healing from an injury and have been stuck watching tv and reading. I've been on an old Bollywood kick. Just saw Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. It has problematic parts for sure. But the main message is special. Nowadays, I feel like Bollywood is trying so hard to be like Hollywood that they lost the charm. Also, who doesn't love Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla.

Seeing chatter that Hunkkaar was completed before Saiyaara but held back. Makes sense if the platform waited for the actor’s post-hit leverage to de-risk a gritty drama. Interesting!

For me I can’t stop listening to Desi Girl.

So I watched Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge last night. Everyone’s already praised the film to the skies, but what completely floored me was Ranveer Singh’s performance.

I’ve always considered RS a solid actor (Padmaavat, Gully Boy proved that). But what he delivered here? Easily one of the most intense performances Bollywood has seen in years.

In those emotionally charged scenes, his expressions carried the kind of weight you usually associate with legends like Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood or Kay Kay Menon in Shaurya. That’s the level of nuance and raw power, I think, he brought.

I walked in expecting a good performance. I walked out convinced he’s operating on a whole different plane now.

Did anyone else feel the same, or am I just blown away beyond reason?

To all those, who are repeatedly commenting to keep DDL aside, understand the scope of this post. The post is not about RS vs DDL.

Everyone is aware that Ranveer doesn't have the lifetime body of work or the 3-Oscar pedigree of DDL. So what? The post isn't about it.

It's only about some of the RS' emotionally intense scenes in D2 reminding me of DDL's 'i abandoned my child' or Menon's 'you can't handle the truth' performances. Just that 🙂

Start reading the post carefully, before making stupid reactions like 'Oh, how can you do Ranveer = DDL'.

36 China Town is such a fun comedy thriller. Abbas-Mustan is a director of this film..

The cast is also good , Akshaye Khanna, Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Isha Koppikar, Upen Patel, Tanaaz Irani and Raj Zutshi.

I watched this movie so many times during my childhood and I still enjoy it whenever I randomly come across it. The story is so engaging..

The songs are really good...

Akshaye Khanna was really good as the investigating officer and Paresh Rawal and Johnny Lever brought a lot of comedy into the movie.

I also really like how the movie keeps introducing different suspects and makes you question almost everyone.

The ending of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam actually makes so much sense to me, even though I know a lot of people disagree with it.

One detail I keep coming back to is that Vanraj (Ajay) was the only person who truly took Nandini (Aishwarya) seriously. He respected her choices, her opinion and, more importantly respected her as his partner. Not even her own family or Sameer really did that. They had their own idea of what was best for her and expected her to follow their commands and orders like a puppet. Her opinion about her own life or future didn't matter to them.

And Sameer (Salman), for all his love for her was incredibly immature. Nandini repeatedly asked him to speak to her father to make their relationship clear, and he kept delaying it. They had been together for a year, yet he still treated the whole situation almost like a joke. His love was passionate, but it wasn't necessarily responsible.

Vanraj was the complete opposite. He was selfless and knew she didn't love him and yet he still did everything he could to make her happy. He endured humiliation, rejection, and heartbreak, and still respected her wishes. He wasn't trying to "win" her, but trying to make sure she was okay, even when there was absolutely nothing in it for him.

And I think that's what Nandini eventually comes to understand.

The journey with Vanraj isn't simply her "settling" for him out of pity or duty. It's her growing up and developing a completely different understanding of what love actually means. At the beginning she understands love as passion, excitement, rebellion, and being swept away by someone. By the end, she understands that love can also mean patience, sacrifice, trust, responsibility, and putting another person's happiness before your own.

That’s why I don’t see the ending as Nandini losing, I see it as Nandini maturing as a woman. I just wish the movie had given us more of their relationship after they became friends. Because there are little glimpses that show how naturally happy they could be together, like that train scene where they're laughing and talking. There was companionship and she wasn't becoming a completely different person around him, she was discovering that she could be bubbly and herself with him too.

So yes, I understand why people wanted Nandini and Sameer to end up together. Their love story is passionate and memorable. But I think the ending was trying to say that sometimes the person you fall in love with isn't necessarily the person who teaches you what love actually requires.

Seeing Ishaan, Anjali and all these Bollywood kids grown up genuinely made me realise how much time has passed 😭

Which child character do you remember the most?

The movie is not perfect and has its flaws, but I still think it's a gem within its own genre in Bollywood.

I've always loved it for its ambition, tbh. It was a pretty bold move for the director to go for such a stylized neo-noir aesthetic totally different from what typical Bollywood crime action movies in India were doing at the time. To a certain degree, its whole vibe feels fresh even today.

Honestly, I find it a bit annoying how people diminish it by simply calling it a copy of Reservoir Dogs. It's true that the plot is directly inspired by it, and the movie also takes inspiration from The Usual Suspects, but that doesn't erase the fact that it's still a pretty damn good movie in its own right, with decent direction, acting, and a great soundtrack.

Bollywood makes hundreds of films every year, and most fade out within a season. But a handful Sholay, Aanand, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil Chahta Hai keep getting rewatched, quoted, and passed down to people who weren't even born when they were released.

The likely answer: these films didn't chase spectacle. They leaned on simple, honest emotions friendship, loss, love, family the kind that don't come with an expiry date. No matter how much technology or trends change around them, those feelings stay exactly as relatable as they were the day the film came out.

That's really the whole idea of timeless. Not loud, not trying to impress at first glance, just built around something real enough to still hold up.

I'm surprised how Aamir Khan who is one of the most successful and talented actors of bollywood is being discredited during his bad phase even though he enjoyed an extraordinary box office run at the peak of his SuperStardom.

How fair is it to say that credit for Aamir's great films should go to Kiran and since she left he hasn't been able to do well?

As a matter of fact Kiran Rao has No successful film as a director/producer, Whereas Aamir Khan even before she came in his life delivered many blockbusters including All Time Blockbuster many of his films have been classics as well, infact He even delivered a clean hit as actor/producer after she left his life.

Not just Aamir has always been praised for his excellent script sense by people in the industry right from the start along with his acting skills but also they specially mentioned how Aamir was involved in the film making process right from start to finish and made changes in original story as well.

Aamir has always taken risks, he had the habit of swimming against the tide right from the start of his career, he did stories which weren't conventional, he worked in genre of films which were not favourite of audience at that era, did 1 film at a time, distanced himself from award shows, He never relied on big directors, producers and worked with many new ones who were not successful and most of them have their 1st/only/biggest success and/or best film with Aamir.

Qayamat se Qayamat Tak came with a debutant director when masala films were working and it had a tragic ending, then he worked with another debutant in Dil, Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar, Sarfarosh (debutant director) were another non conventional films

Ghajini's climax was changed by Aamir, He also contributed in changes for films like 3 idiots and Rang de basanti, Taare zameen par was directed, Hum hain raahi pyaar ke was written by Aamir, How Aamir Actually Selected Nitesh Tiwari's Dangal and worked for it is also mentioned in detail in various interviews, Sitaare Zameen Par was Made After Kiran Left Him.

It is wierd how Aamir is discredited from his blockbuster success because he gave a couple of flops.

Aamir had the vision to act in Lagaan and produce it when no one wanted to, Dil Chahta Hai is another trend setting urban film released in the same year, He chose these projects before meeting Kiran.

Also Was Kiran part of the Dhoom 3 discussions or not? It was an ATBB but criticism has been there for its quality

Was She Not Associated with Mangal Pandey? Which took a bumper opening and then crashed and became a flop even after having close to 1 cr footfalls?

The only unsuccessful film (though not an outright flop) Aamir had during his golden run after 2005 till 2017 (which is one of the greatest runs in bollywood history) was directed by Kiran- Dhobi Ghat.

Aamir dodged a bullet by not doing Laapata Ladies as it would have been his 6th flop after 1995, 2nd of this decade.

Kiran's own films or her interest by her own admission won't be box office success like the way Aamir's is.

Kiran is still in his life in an official capacity. She mentioned this in her divorce or immediately after divorce announcement.

Constantly demeaning Aamir's contributions to films and his talent isn't fair.

Aamir’s run from Lagaan to Dangal worked wonders but it also includes movies like 3 Idiots, Ghajini, Dhoom 3 and PK which weren’t his own production but were key to his box office dominance during this period.

Aamir’s problem is there was a time he was swimming against the tide and he won. He is still trying to do the same, like not accepting remakes and feel good drama will not work or having a six month OTT window won’t work. This time his decisions are turning back on him.

Just because someone is down doesn't mean we have to kick him!

Now this is about high "fantasy" films not ghosts movie like chamatkar (1992), kaal (2005), bhootnath, bhoot unkle and friends type movie or scifi movies like ra. One , krish, koi mil Gaya, jaane kahan se aayi hai, etc

I am sure many people are familiar with upcoming Namit malhotra's ramayana. Whose tagline is our history our truth. The history part make me ponder about a comment I encountered by a foreigner that there are so many historical,wuxia, xianxia fantasy

( Take it with a grain of salt I have heard from some youtubers that ramayana is also going for the wuxia aesthetic which is why it looks the way it does )chinese korean shows and movies but from Bollywood there is almost a depletion of it

Apart from the once a year samrat prithviraj movie or British raj atrocity and colonial rule there aren't any periodical pieces I am not trying to brush up the 200 year old colonial rule and it's impact on Indian society but we might know why they don't make such movies

Exhibit A padmavat or as known before boycott padmavati we all can look at many such instances in SLB career eg Bajirao Mastani, ram leela,etc

Any inaccuracies or cinematic liberaties would be treated with burning effigies

And fantasy films will be treated with both exhibit B brahmastra the trashiest trash light show cost a million to make and 11 years of hardwork only for power of love to save the day.

Most of these movies are very expensive to make and have little to no guarantee of being successful. That doesn't undermine the fact they are poorly crafted ambitious project

Back in the day, was there a rumour that Karan Johar didn’t actually direct My Name Is Khan?
The story and screenplay were written by Shibani Bathija, the dialogues were co-written by Shibani and Niranjan Iyengar and Karan Malhotra (director of Agneepath 2012) was the associate director. The film also had substantial creative input from SRK himself.
Moreover, the film is nothing like any of his other films before or after MNIK. So, it doesn’t feel particularly authentic to his storytelling sensibilities.
I know KJo is officially credited as the director, so I’m not claiming this is true. I’m just curious whether this was an actual old Bollywood rumour that surfaced at the time or something that was invented over time.

The scene is from the movie Oye lucky lucky Oye, where Lucky's step mother tries to s3xually assault him. Despite the movie being comedy, this scene was shown with serious intent. A woman clearly abusing a minor .

He initially didn't understand but when he did we could see that he was scared and tried his best to get away from her.

I am also happy that women were neither shown in a seductive outfit, nor as bombshell that we should swoon over, because some stupid teen woudl have written "lobster too buttery" comments.

Another movie I can think of is Aitraaz .

When student of the year released, there was huge hype around Sidharth Malhotra, and everyone expected him to have a big career.
Then came ek villain a hit film, hit songs, and a role that suited him perfectly.

Since then, he hasn’t been able to deliver a major hit despite trying different genres. Personally, I think Sidharth is best suited to romantic roles. He has the looks, charm and that intense eye gaze that works so well for a romantic hero.

He needs a big hit, but more importantly, he needs to choose his scripts better. A strong love story with action and emotion, something like ek villain , could bring him back. Unfortunately, I feel some of his script choices have seriously damaged the momentum his career once had.

There were rumours he was doing Malang 2 that could have been a big deal for his career, collaborating again with mohit Suri would have done wonders for him not sure what went wrong.
