Here’s my crack at some Soviet Tank Riders. They’re not magnetised, they just simply slot onto the back of the turret. Was a pain in the arse to make but I’m proud of them! Although, in retrospect I think I went a little too hard with the nuln oil, I’m sure we’ve all done the same at some point 😂

I tried some "new-to-me" techniques on this ol' girl. I had been wanting to refine my Finnish tricolor camo scheme. I think I've landed on something that I can replicate in the future.

She will be the backbone of my armored forces at an upcoming tournament.

Yet too add a wash too the finished ones but thought I’d share my weekends progress

I have just went back to wargaming (and painting) after around 20 years break. I have picked the D-Day US Airborne (simply because i love jumping out of planes and war movies :) ) and went down the rabbit hole of the uniforms. What i have learned so far is, they jumped the Normandy in M42 uniforms, as they did in Italy (going for the 82nd). But, since the uniforms tended to rip and tear the '44 ones were reinforced on knees, elbows and pockets. After painting my first three guys, i figured "geee, i wish i didnt limit my army historically for just a month or two in northern france..." so started digging through photos. Will it be legit, if i don't do the reinforced patches (file them off and paint uniformly with the rest of the jumpsuit) just to keep the 1943 Italy as an option too?

Attached pic of the first batch. Hues of the jumpsuits and gear differ on purpose. I am also willing and looking forward for opinions on what (and How!) to improve. I want the opinions as harsh as it gets. No goodjobing and patting on the back please :)

I'm looking to print some terrain for my table and want to know what people find as the most important terrain pieces to get the main layout for a table so I know what to prioritize. I'm used to L shaped ruins and symmetrical tables and dont want that for Bolt action.

Right now I'm printing a set of walls i found to use as scatter terrain. I'm looking to do a Normandy style village but I honestly have no clue how I should be structuring it. Would it be best to print off roads to try and get a rough idea of how the table should be set up? Or should I be printing buildings and plop those down and print roads around where they're at on the table? Any tips on what all terrain makes for a good table will be greatly appreciated!

I wanna get into the game and i like the IJA a bit.... Heard it can be rellatively agressive which i like. (dont just wanna sit around and shoot but maybe get into the fight and have some funny moments)

Problem is i have no clue how to build the army.

From my first reasearch i found that the knee mortars are relatively good (?) and i like the idea of suicide AT- Teams running at a pershing of my buddy...

My big question i: is the IJA good for this more agressive style gameplay? and what are units that i should definetly take?

After a few sessions at the painting bench my big guns are ready to field.

How are you meant do so the basing are all the men on one base or so many deposits ones? Idk I am making heavy machine guns for context

I finally managed to finish up my naval Soviets. I’m quite happy with the results!

Wanting to add a third Sherman to my army and I’m tossing up between a regular 76mm or the Jumbo. Armour 10 feels super beefy, but I don’t know if slow is too much of a let down.

I noticed that there is a difference in how the heads are attached between Warlord and Wargame Atlantic miniatures.

I am wondering if it will look natural and if the proportions are correct. Has anyone tried this?

I've tried searching online but I still have some questions about mortars.

They "range in", so they start with a 6 and if they get another fire order and the target unit hasn't moved far enough it goes to 5 and so on. A hit will then be ranged in with subsequent fire orders hitting on 2's.

Pins on the mortar team? It just affects their chances of activating? The pins do not affect ranging in?

What happens when a mortar is reduced to one man? Do they suffer -1 to their ranging in rolls?

If I've read the rules correctly, a light morar can advance (so move and shoot), how does this work with ranging in? Do they advance, range in on a 6, and then need to stay out/receive fire orders to continue ranging in?

Progress update on the Marines:

1. Put together the various weapons teams. I really liked the look of the running MMG squad, so I decided to base the other MMGs as much as possible with custom bases where they can be separated to show wounds or better fit terrain. I'm particularly pleased with how the AT gun base turned out, there was just enough space to make it work.

2. AK Sandy Desert with AP Gray/Black speed paint over it then going back to dry brush a bit more brown to lighten it back up.

3. Green trim on all the bases looks good.

4. Next steps, need to build more riflemen and find some tufts, maybe yellow/brown and probably a bit of splotchy grass cover.

I am sure someone has done this before, but how do I do just "all bears, bears everywhere." Is it actually viable?

Just kitbashed this Radio Halftrack out of an 251 and 222 Kit.

Think it turned out well and fits in my Afrika Korps.

I've got some large buildings printed, a few tree sections, and telephone poles. Any super cheap ideas to add more variety and realism, but functional pieces?

I have a MG34 three man team with the gun that is on a open base, i wanted to either make mounds to make it more dugout like / a more realistic firing position for the crew to take cover, or make a fence to give the illusion of cover.

If I do this will it be an issue in any way?
