Home Audio Help Me!

Can’t find any good documentation to help me so I’m turning to Reddit. I have a Bose lifestyle 525 series 3(I think) home entertainment system. Recently it’s stoped working and I’m getting this error message on the screen(first photo). All cables are plugged in and I don’t really know what to do. I’d appreciate any help and if you need any other info/photos let me know.

Make sure none of the pins are bent between the bass module and the media center and that both are powered on. If a pin is bent, you can use pliers to VERY gently push it back into place.

All pins look good

Good! And are those the cables that came in the box with the system?

Pretty sure, but not super confident since this system was installed probably more than if not a decade ago. If it helps, it was working prior to this with the same cables.

Yeah not the cables then. Presumably you’ve tried unplugging everything everywhere and plugging it back in again? Also, I believe this model had USB software updates you could run using the front or back USB port. Probably not why it stopped working, but if you figure out how to factory reset it you can then try and get the last update they did and try that as a long shot.

seconding this, the pin connection between the bass module and media center is usually the first thing to check

Ok, let's try some troubleshooting steps for your LS 525 III:

  1. Unplug the LSPS III) subwoofer power cable from the sub and the wall outlet, and then plug it back in.
  2. Make sure the subwoofer's light is on.
  3. Then unplug the cable that goes between the LSPS III and the AV35 receiver from both ends.
  4. Use a flashlight to make sure that no pins on that cable are bent on either end.
  5. Plug it back into the LSPS III.
  6. Make sure that the cable plugs into the Audio Out port under the power cable on the AV35.
  7. If that does not work, then unplug and reboot the AV35.

If those steps do not work, call Bose support and let us know what they say.

Where can I find the light on the subwoofer?

It's directly to the left of the power plug on the LSPS III. The Bose website shows what it's supposed to look like when plugged in under the "Lifestyle Acoustimass Module LED Status Indicators" section.
