So, is this two connected or what cuz... I did NOT expect that cameo all of the sudden lol. Overall, loved the series! Became part of my top 5 saddest BLs ever. 🤩💔

The baseball stadium welcomed 12,000 fans to a Heated Rivalry theme night.

Pregame featured a deejayed dance party, similar to the club scene in the show.

Baseball team mascots wore Rosonov and Hollander jerseys.

My ThamePO Thoughts

First and foremost—I don’t know why this was sitting on my watchlist for a long, long, long time, but I am so glad I discovered WilliamEst through You, Maniac, because WHY DID I NEVER WATCH THEM BEFORE?

Although watching them in ThamePo after discovering them in You, Maniac was such whiplash for me.

Here below lies my grave and my undeniable love for the show called ThamePO.

I have never really been a fan of fan-and-singer love stories. However, I have always been a sucker for famous x non-famous pairs in media/fiction. I had no idea what the show was about when I started watching, so imagine my surprise when they had Po act like he was a fan of Thame during their first meeting. I mean, he literally told him he wanted to understand him.

Don’t get me wrong, the first 1–2 episodes didn’t really sit right with me, considering they are all famous and have been roaming around everywhere with basically zero consequences. But I let it all go because I kinda vibed with the show despite some things pissing me off once in a while.

One of the best things about the show, I guess, was the chemistry between William and Est. I now understand why they are so celebrated and shipped. The chemistry was off the roof. They are both really good actors, but I would actually give extra points to Est. He really nailed the role. He looked so soft and so sorted, and yet the insecurities he had felt so real.

Also, the way Po is written might make him one of my favourite characters. HE was written with so much sincerity. Even before he knew whether Thame felt the same way about him or not, he never let his feelings overpower his kindness. He was such an important part of MARS, and I am so glad we got to see them all bonding together.

I won’t say that the story felt dragged out in the middle... but okay, maybe it did a little. The second time they made Thame go to Korea alone, it kinda pissed me off, but I was glad it was only for one episode.

Being on that topic, Est really is a VERY, VERY good crier. Both times—while reading the letter and during the “Aren’t you tired?” scene—he made me care for him more than William, although the story demanded that I empathise with Thame.

And now, on the topic of Thame.

THAME IS THE ULTIMATE WIFE GUY.

He fell for one person and kept stumbling and rolling across three blocks. He was DOWN BAD. And the scenes where he was slowly figuring out the most obvious things made me laugh out loud.

Even though he pissed me off by going out in public with little to no mask.

FOR GOD’S SAKE, YOU ARE FAMOUS, BITCH!

But I will forgive him because he was such a good character. He was such an honest, kind, and softly written character that it made me want to punch everyone who hurt him.

His relationship with the group was absolutely one of my favourite things. It reminded me of the time I was a fan of One Direction.

What? Who? I only know MARS as OT5 now.

I am always going to adore Per, Dylan, Nona, and Jun. My absolute favourite boys. I wish we could have seen more of them.

Also, Per and Gum—I ship you guys so hard.

There are so many more things I liked about the show. This was such a sight for sore eyes. So bingeable. I had butterflies in my stomach and was craving the intimacy between them.

Also, both of them had such natural chemistry while kissing. I was screaming into my pillow.

The scene where they kept going home and meeting at the bus stop? It is etched into my memory.

I also really like how BL dramas rarely show any homophobia. I love you guys for that. I wish the world could be like that.

My only three problems with the show were:

They could have chopped the story down and made it more crisp.
They could have given us more time with Thame and Po's relationship. They felt like soulmates, and their relationship was so beautifully fictional, but I wanted something a little more real and grounded from them.
And second—UGHHHHHH. THIS REALLY PISSED ME OFF. Why did you play that romantic song in the background while Po and Thame were crying after the breakup?! What a scene, by the way. The contrast was a knife to the heart.

I was also shocked that they got caught as early as they did, especially with the way Thame was doing EVERYTHING in public.

Like, what do you mean you have to figure out your feelings for him in the middle of the road, where you can easily be recognised and photographed?!

Beside that, I think this is going straight onto my rewatch list.

I don’t know how I am ever going to see these two cuties and babies in You, Maniac now.

8.5/10.

Hey there. I recently got into BL and I am so fucking hooked. I recently watched Caught in His Current and I can't get the top out of my head ahhhhhh. I wanna be able to share my passion with friends. Anyone in NYC down to be friends? I would love love love to read/watch and discuss BL together 🥹

In general, I was hoping to look for BLs (Thai, Korean, Taiwanese, Japanese, Chinese, and even Western works) where one lead is obsessive and/or protective. If both leads are obsessive, that's fine, but I would slightly prefer it when the other lead is naive to how possessive their potential partner is.

Kinda similar to the new bl Summertime or Secret Crush on You. Like you can FEEL how protective these men are.
