I've been using Windows since i was born, and even "RICE"ed the hell out of it.......and got bored. So, i switched to CachyOS.....AND I LOVE IT SO FAR!!!

I'm using the default hyprland setup that comes with noctalia shell.....and it looks pretty, ngl. I might switch to waybar later, when i have enough knowledge. You guys guide me on these tings....y'all are awsome 🔥

Can some of you who use Catchy OS as a daily driver relate your experiences with tasks like audio/video editing, office tasks, and other common tasks?

I read a lot about gaming, but I do not see too much about everyday tasks.

I was a plan ing on installing Open Madriva (back to my Mandrake roots). But was somewhat underwhelmed by the experience. So instead of doing an Arch install, I was thinking if trying Catchy.

I booted it up in a VM, but I don't think that gives me a good reflection on bare metal performance.

How do I get the gen 4 astro a50 headset mic to work on linux?

A lot of people recommend new users (and just in general) to go with the big main distros like Fedora, Arch, Debian, Ubuntu or Mint, because they say "who knows if flavour of the week distros still exists in 5-10 years".

So i asked myself today, what would happen if maintenance for CachyOS just halted completely? Would it be necessary or recommended for most users to reinstall a different distro, or would the updater simply just grab the new packages from vanilla arch repos and everything is just fine?

pdfio is availble on the cachy-repo (extra-v3), but on running pacman-Qi pdfio the source is unknown:

The reason I checked this, is because Shelly claims this to be from the AUR (maybe because the source is not registered or something?)

Is this a bug where the source is not registered? Pacman for sure did not (and cannot) pull this from the AUR.

I wanna try shelly.

I install it via pacman. Launch the GUI.

I enable AUR

Try to install AUR package (both with the cli command and the GUI)

it feels very off and for windows i don't use mouse acceleration and when i turn it off in linux it doesn't feel the same as windows. even with the right sensitivity it still feels off.

it's very appealing to me but i know can do SO much more. i give myself a solid C...

edit: i have an empty widget on the top left that it seems is an input method panel? not sure what to do with it. I kinda like the way it looks though. just a tiny mysterious black hole...

I recently Benchmarked a Lenovo T480 across multiple Linux Distros and Desktop Environments plus Windows 11

Not this is a older 8th Gen intel so the results show bad performance more than a more advanced processor.

I wasn't surprised by the poor Windows performance (a local install without MS account so minimum BG activity) but what did suprise me was how little the Desktop Environments were influencing results in the Linux Benchmarks.

Anyway here they are.

Specifically a Pro 9985wx on trx50 with 1TB of Ram. If it does are there any weird quirks I should look out for? Where can I find documentation for this config? Thank in advance, All help is appreciated.

I just switched. I have an ntfs partition. SO I am trying to merge some free space with this partition. So I was taking backup in case something goes wrong. And along the way I kept deleting files. Old ISOs and media files. I get error trash full. And when shift deleting to permanently deleting files it stopped working with unable to delete errors. Emptying trash does not give any error. It just does not do anything.

So I rebooted and the trash was empty. So I started again. Deleting stuff, but again noticed that trash still won't empty. Why is this happening? (nvme: WD BLACK SN770)

Also dolphin does not show my Linux partition as a mounted device. I won't mind it much, but now I have no idea how much space is left in my Linux installation partition.

Hey all, made a post a month or two back about eGPU issues with my 5060ti and handheld.

Wondering if there's been any developments? I've been up to date with all updates etc, got all nvidia drivers and it still just crashes the PC.

It gave me an error quickly that said "the console does not support...." But couldn't read it fully.

Can ANYONE actually assist in this or what? I've done googleAI for help and nothing's worked.

I've attached a nvidia-smi terminal request and it's connected and "in use", but it still crashes when sitting in a game.

i am new to CachyOS and like to read your suggestions on partitioning.
I am using Linux for years, mostly for server applications at work and in private and some PI Projects but never for gaming or as main OS.

Now i am interested in your opinions of Partition layout.
At first the /boot/efi of course, you don't need to suggest this but then would you suggest to seperate root and home? on different partitions?
if yes would you suggest a different FS for home? ext4 oder XFS, if yes why?

I have round about 600GB Free Space planned for Cachy how would you distribute between root and home?

My games would be placed on another SSD explicit for linux installed games and not on the same drive like my OS and home, here is the only question which FS for the games would you suggest?

As the title states, I do a lot of work with music production but also for fun as a bedroom guitarist. I want to use a guitar amp simulator plugin of mine while playing along to YouTube, but when I go to do this I only get audio out of the plugin and nothing else will play any sound and YouTube videos won't load properly because of it. I've briefly looked into the stuff with pulse, jack, and pipewire but it all seems very overwhelming with no real guides. Is this possible to do on Linux? Any help would be appreciated.

Any ideas and help are welcome.

Rescently installed GOG via Faugus, but the GUI was chopped and shifted, went back to Heroic for GOG. But today I installed Rockstar Launcher to play RDR2 and the GUI is also shifted.

This white stripe is shifting the launcher downwards and mousehover is also shifted.

Is this normal for Faugus or is this a GUI problem with my installation?

first off all i compared gaming on windows 11 and cachyos. and windows 11 was far better in term of fps, i tried frostpunk and sekiro and both were laggy in cachyos while windows was far better is that because of integrated gpu? i heard cachyos was faster in term of gaming or that what i thought

I recently installed cachyos on my Acer Nitro v16 AI and now when i try to boot into UEFI to change boot order it just freezes

trying to boot into firmware from the grub interface does the same thing

is there a way to fix via Konsole or am i SOL?

Anyone have a solution for me? Already tried removing them keeps telling me they break dependencies.

I can't stop spinning uncontrollably when I play any type of FPS or shooter. I can't stop spinning, and clicking both M1 and M2 makes my character spin slightly too, which I don't know why this happens. This happens on most FPS games.

Whenever I try to move my mouse, my character usually looks up and starts spinning.

I have two printers, a HP and a Canon. Today both printers fail with message: universal filter failed
