Welcome to all new fans of the franchise. In this FAQ we'll try to response the most common questions that we are seeing around these days. I'll leave the comments open so people can add questions (or answers) and then i'll add them to the main post, i hope this helps.
Q: What is it with the pedophile relationships? (especially in the manga).
A: Alright so this is the stain in the franchise that we have to deal with, in general nobody believes CLAMP added those relationships for any kind of evil intention, trying to promote pedophilia or sexualizing kids if you are wondering, but it's indeed a misguided thing to put in their story. With that said, there's two answers that i can give you.
-On the one hand, there's what they themselves have said about it: In short, they just want the show to focus on "true love" only, no matter the gender, race or yes... even age. In the world they created there's no ill intentions and there's absolutely no discrimination no matter who falls in love with who... this has its good things, like the great lgbt representation, but it has its bad side with the age gap stuff...
-On the other hand, this is my personal interpretation. It's notable that all the age gap relationships in the show are about student and teachers. So I believe the CLAMP are just living out their fantasies from when they were kids and falling for their teachers.
So yeah, it's generally not believed that they want to sexualize the kids or anything like that wich is what you would mostly expect from this kind of thing, in fact none of the relationships include any kind of sexual attraction aspect to them, there's not even a kiss in the whole franchise (sorry if you were expecting that). It's worth keeping in mind that this was made by a group of women in the 90's from a very different culture, but either way, it's up to each person to come to the conclussion of how to feel about it, this is just some context around it.
Q: What order should I watch the show in?
A: For the manga it's quite simple, just read the classic and then clear card.
For the anime, there are 3 seasons officially, 2 movies, some ovas, and then the Clear Card Anime. To make it easier on yourself, i'd suggest you ignore the OVAS and watch them all after you are done with all of the rest, as none of these are mandatory. The watching order would be something like this:
Classic:
-Season 1 (Episodes 1 to 35)
-OVA 1: Recording of the first opening (Optional)
-OVA 3: The blue mail post of love (Yes, the the third is here for some reason, it's optional too)
-Movie 1 (Optional but very good)
-Season 2 (Episodes 36 to 46)
-Season 3 (Episodes 47 to 70)
-OVA 2: Cooking with Eriol (Optional)
-OVA 4: Kero vs Spinel for the Takoyaki! (Optional)
-Movie 2 (Mandatory, it's the true ending of the series)
Clear Card:
-Season 1.
-Season 2 (No release date yet)
Besides that, there's the two bears special ova, this one is complicated because it's an adaptation of the ending of the manga, which is slightly different than the anime... but it's not canon to the anime at all, since the clear card anime does take into account what happened in Movie 2, which directly contradicts this ova... so as a new fan, watching this ova will be very confusing. My recomendation would be to only watch it if you already saw all of the anime and manga and are curious about it.
Q: What is the best dub to watch in english?

Q: What is Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, and what does it has to do with CCS?
A: TRC is another manga and anime made by studio CLAMP, it works as a celebration of all of their franchises, in a story that mashes them all together with alternate universe versions of their characters. The protagonists are a grown up Sakura and Syaoran from a different world (they are around 14/15 years old), so while talking about CCS you will definetly hear about this show too.
TRC Also includes some extra lore for the CCS background, as that universe does connect to the main universes of the other series that take part in it, mostly there are some details about Clow in the past.
There's also the other manga xxxHolic which is more directly connected to TRC and also has some extra details about Clow's past. It's worth mentioning that this is a very small part of the story, but it's interesting if you want to find out more about Clow.
It is absolutely NOT required to watch/read TRC to enjoy CCS, as CCS classic has 0 references to it since it was made way before it, and Clear Card only makes some light references and you won't miss anything if you haven't watch it.
Q: Is Card Captor Sakura an important anime historically? Why am I just finding out about it?
A: Yes, CCS is one of the most significant animes in history, particularly in the magical girl genre, since it's one of the 3 pillars of it along with Sailor Moon and Madoka. In some countries CCS is even more popular than Sailor Moon and it has enjoyed a constant presence in events, with cosplay and merchandising always available.
The reason you probably haven't heard of it yet, is that the infamous dub it got for english made it fail in english speaking countries. The so called "Nelvana Dub" did a lot more than dubbing. At the time, Pokemon was all the rage and Nelvana tried to make Card Captor Sakura into a Pokemon like show at any costs, which led them to change dialogue, modify scenes, censor all lgbt relationships and some other questionable ones, change the order of episodes, and in general, try to make it so Syaoran has as much of a spotlight as Sakura in the story in an effort to make it more appealing to boys. In doing so, that dub greatly removed the aspects that made the show special and such a huge sucess worldwide, which in turn made it a very obscure anime in english speaking countries.
While there's still a small part of the fandom that do have nostalgia for that dub since they watched it when they were kids, it's undeniable that the negative impact it had on the franchise is the main reason why the show isn't fondly remembered in the US and some other english speaking countries.
As for why you are finding out about it now. It's likely because it's ongoing popularity got it a continuation story called Clear Card, and recently, the manga for that story ending and a second season for the anime is incoming. So a lot of people are hearing about it for the first time and discovering why it's such an unique story even to this day. It also helps that the show is so important to the childhood of most who grew up with it, that we never EVER shut up about it =P
Q: Should i skip the filler?
A: Absolutely not! Oddly enough, what people like the most about CCS is it's slice of life stuff, seeing the character's interactions and the wonderful world they live in, and the "filler" just expands greatly into that, so it's one of the most enjoyable parts of the show. There's also a lot of new cards created for the anime that weren't in the manga and their capture is as enjoyable as those that were manga exclusive, so really, nobody would suggest you to skip those episodes, since if you don't like what's on those fillers, you likely don't enjoy the show in general.

I'm 35, I watched the show when I was a kid, and like many other boys I was so ashamed to love an anime like this more than others like Dragon Ball or Yugioh intended for boys, anyway...
I made something special for her, I edited the final episodes and skipped Syaoran confession, so she could watch the OVA of the two bears as the ending. She loved it.
Then I explained what I did and she wanted to watch the anime confession and uncut episode 70.
She didn't like it at all, She asked many questions that I couldn't even answer.
Note: She just watched the anime, the first movie and Clear card prologue, not the second movie.
"How come they simply cut from Tsukimine Shrine to the school without explaining anything?"
"Did Sakura just run away, leaving Syaoran alone, or was it the other way around?"
Then she got mad:
"Syaoran actually planned to leave Japan without even saying goodbye to Sakura, he didn't tell her he was leaving, didn't give her a chance to say goodbye, and then, as if that wasn't enough, he even left the bear he had made for her behind in his apartment before heading to the airport. , if it weren't for Syaoran's "Alfred" (Wei) (Yeah, she like Batman), he would've just left without giving Sakura anything at all"
Sakura's new "The Love" Card was a nice detail, but the bear was 10 times better because Syaoran left Japan with a promise to a Sakura who understands her own heart.
She loved it, she laughed, cried, got mad, etc... and I had a great moment rewatching the series (We watched it in original Japanese with subtitles)
She was surprised when I told her that the fans had to wait almost 17 years for those 30 minutes.
I also prefer the Clear Card prologue, In my heart that's the true ending of CCS

I hope this is okay.
I connected with a girl when we were young teens (almost 20 years ago) and it was through CCS that we became friends (we ran fanpages) and am hoping that perhaps they are on here somewhere.
This girl was on the east coast of the US with the initials TG.
I'm in Scotland, initials AB.
We called one another Sakura (her) and Tomoyo (me) and emailed through Yahoo before sending letters.
Just hoping that perhaps she is on here nowadays and maybe we could reconnect as I've always wondered how she is and if she achieved her goals.

Anyone remember the Twin Card episode form usa dub....I think it was Li & Meilin fought the twin cards (Sakura she kind of sat on the sidelines for this one). Anyone think that Sakura knowing Meiling was leaving back to Hong Kong was kind enough to let Meilin fight alongside Li

HELLO EVERYONE so I am here to express my love to this fandom since my friends quite got an earful and I quite feel guilty.
I joined this fandom in 4th grade so long ago and my love for it never changed no matter how I grew it just has a special place in my heart and soul its the show that built me as tge person I am today .
Now back to what I actually came to talk about so I actually rewatched and reread ccs again for the seconed time this year since I was kind of bored and needed an entertainment and since I haven't watched the anime in a hot minute i was like lets do it. So honestly I really prefer tge anime over tge manga and thats pretty normal in the ccs fandom and I kind of appreciate the fact that clamp actually gave meiling some manga art cuz I love her sm shes my pookie, anyway I watched the movies pretty normal and I start clear card and everything was fine my memory of the anime was pretty hazy since I only watched it once but I reread the manga couple of times and ofc I did re notice tge differences between the anime vs manga and everything was fine the ending wasnt the best conclusion in both anime and manga but ykw i accepted the manga more since I actually really liked the twin Alice's/Alice in clock land play and outfits so it got bonus points . Really sad syouran lost his brownish eyes and thick brows I dont mind him becoming a bit more mature since we all mature up at some point and he got the ability to settle up his feelings throughout the time he went back to Hong Kong to train and stuff plus hes adorable hes a mix of both tsubasa and ccs syouran its cute . I finish up with my show and my dad comes from his trip from china for work and I did request some figures specifically tomoyo and sakura and he comes home woth tsubasa sakura (honest mistake its okay i dont mind shes soo pretty ). As a person who haven't watched tsubasa yet I was like hmm this might be a sign to actually start it plus earlier this year I was talking about thr fact am inbthe hunt for xxxholic mangas to read it and since i am free and got nothing better to do i open my laptop watch season 1 of tsubasa and it ended very weirdly so I open up reddit and see a BUNCH of ppl who recommends the manga more so as a sane human that night i got the entire omnibus ver and read it on my kindle following a reading order I found and holy shit i had fun i finished both of them in like 2 and a half days I was legit cleaning eating relaxing and reading in the same time and I genuinely gave my friends such a headache cuz I randomly dissappear reading then randomly appear crashing out. It was a fun experience tho i have more prepective of other clamps work and so I watched thr rest of season 2 and the ovas which was absolutely wonderful like description and now am watching xxxholic which also is real fun. What the conclusion to this. Uhhh litterally nothing I just wanted to share my experience with how much fun I am experiencing manga after a long slacking session after finishing ouran manga. So moral of my story is do not listen to the people who say tsubasa and clear card are the worst cuz i actually did believe ill hate em but no they're amazing. those two are actually really good and I absolutely adore them since clear card was my first manga ever so yea and the sudden release of this amount of ccs merch is kinda sus yall idk maybe its just my imagination but the amount of figures and nen and merch that keeps getting announced is interesting (more merch to loom forward to ) i actually hope there's a good reason for that cuz i think am going insane LMAO . Thank u for reading my entire rant I really appreciate it if anyone would want to talk about those 3 serieses am more than happy to geek about it with u its absolutely needed thank u again (idk which flair to put this)

I think Syaoran is one of those characters who gets way more interesting as the series goes on. At first, he’s basically Sakura’s rival and seems determined to prove he’s the one who should collect the Clow Cards.....
But then we slowly get to see a much softer side of him, especially around Sakura. Hey everyone!
I’m working on a preservation project for the old 2001 Upper Deck Cardcaptors Trading Card Game, trying to collect and preserve high-quality images of all the cards from the game.
I’ve been researching this TCG intensively for about 15 days, and I’ve managed to find almost all of the Spirit Clow Cards, almost all of the Reinforcement Cards, and most of the Strategy Cards. However, several cards are still extremely difficult to find, and some may have become essentially lost media in terms of their online images.
For example, I recently found this photograph on WorthPoint. If you look closely, you can see two very rare Series 2 Strategy Cards in the middle/right area of the image:
S37 — Kerberos Arrives
S38 — Yue’s Judgement
This is currently the only photograph I’ve been able to find showing these cards.
But these aren’t the only cards I’m still looking for. There are several other cards from this TCG for which I haven’t been able to find good images either.
So I’m asking for help from anyone who still owns cards from this game:
If you have a binder, collection, or even a box of Cardcaptors TCG cards, would you be willing to photograph the pages/cards and share the photos?
You don’t need to identify individual cards or take perfect scans. Photos of your collection pages are already incredibly useful, because I may be able to identify cards that are missing from my archive just by looking at the images.
I’ve already searched eBay (including sold and ended listings), auction sites, collector sites, forums, and many other places, so I’m hoping someone here might have a personal collection that has never been photographed online.
Even if the cards in your collection aren’t complete, any photos could potentially help preserve images of cards that are currently very difficult to find online.
