Ideas for improvements?

These are 145gr massive hollow points made from mp moulds. I'm shooting out of a rossi R95 in 30-30. I coated them with hitek and gas checked with .012" aluminium and sized to fit my barrel. The grid squares are 1cm so my group is about 1" at 50yd. This was the best group when i did some load testing using 20.5gr of a medium rifle powder. Any ideas on how to shrink this group? Or am I at the limit?

1" at 50 yards is quite good for a lever gun. That blunt nose is goi g to shed velocity like crazy. If the bullet passes thru transonic between 50 and 100 your group may go to crap. You should see between 2&3" at 100 with 1" at 50

1" at 50yd is pretty decent for cast boolits from a lever gun. Have you chronographed this load? Depending on your velocity, you may already be at the limit for precision.

Haven't chronograph it yet. Im working on 2 other bullet shapes at the moment and once I have all of them dialed in ill try and get a chronograph to do the last testing.

On another note this is the group from a 175grcast i made in the same rifle. Which measured just over .5"

Definitely minute of Bambi. From a lever gun, I'd be happy with that.

I doubt your rifle is capable of any better than that.

A coating that doesn't make them look like they freshly fell out of a goose's ass. More seriously, I don't know if you can realistically get more out of a 30-30.

1” with a 30-30 out of a non free floated rifle with a bunch of junk hanging off the barrel like a mag tube, a wooden foreend, two barrel bands, oh and if your loading into the mag tube the barrel harmonics change every time you rack the lever? Ya that’s pretty decent. Let’s not forget lever actions don’t generally have the best barrel stock to begin with.

Add in the fact you’re lunching literally a cylinder down range with a BC that’s probably .15 or less, ya this is pretty good. Hell I’m willing to bet that 22LR likely have a higher BC than these do and those are generally .14 or less

Bro you honestly already doing way better then probably a good 50% of people trying cast in rifle calibers lol 👍👍

You are already at lobster too buttery and steak is too juicy levels. I can’t even reach your accuracy.

How many power loads did you try?

I tried 8 different powder loads ranging from 20 to 23.5gr

Yeh damn. Tried any seating depth variations?

Not yet. You think that might bring it in a little more? Only difficulty is being a tube mag i have to keep it between certain lengths.

Is that the Ness bullet?

I have that mold, and it's awesome in my bolt-action .300 Blackout.

Thats pretty good for shooting a cast bullet shaped like a barrel + the hp
