Cloud sweater with drops air in crimson red with 2x2 ribbing

I gave up knitting to learn crochet, and I think it is helping me understand the knitting concepts I struggled with. I mainly crochet squares that becomes sweaters or other items. Is knitting squares a thing? Is there a different knitting equivalent to squares. TIA; I am hoping this time it sticks.

Made my first cowl neck scarf, and you can really see when I started getting a grip of the ribbing pattern 😅

Mostly looking for encouragement to not start the whole thing over as I've put quite a few hours into it and its almost to the size I like. What do y'all think?

I started this shawl in February but ended up getting distracted with other hobbies + taking the time to make something for my new nibbling :)

We should have a few days of "cooler" weather before we start air frying ourselves & I can't wait to work more on my shawl :3

My own pattern, I'm so pleased with it. Used graph paper to make the skulls and word cherry on top, because I'm punny haha. Gonna add red cap sleeves, if I can figure them out lol. The skulls do wrap around the whole top

Im new to knitting and my stitches are like super tight, very hard to get my needle through to knit to the next side.

Im currently doing stockenette stitch for a stitch flat beanie (cause my round attempts have failed miserably)

What am I doing wrong? How can I fix it?

Hi all, I’m trying bust my stash after years of irresponsible yarn buying. Initially I thought the red and orange cakes in the first picture, along with maybe the green, could make a nice autumnal Saturday shrug (I have different yarn weights, so it won’t be following the pattern perfectly). Now looking at them, I’m wondering if the red and orange won’t look quite right together, and if the green with the red will make it look too Christmasy. I could also put some brown stripes in the mix, and/or hold the yarn in the second picture with one of the red skeins to darken it a bit.
Or, I could just make a hat with the orange and figure something else out for the others.
Any opinions would be appreciated, I feel like I’ve lost confidence in my ability to see color accurately. 🙃 Thanks in advance!

I’m new to knitting garments, so I chose to knit Petite Knit’s Monday Sweater. It’s knit with a strand of Sandnes Garn Sunday and Sandnes Garn mohair held together.

I love the Sunday! It’s soft and lovely to knit with. The mohair is not lovely to knit with. It makes the knitting feel coarser and I can’t see what I’m doing as well. Ripping back is a pain in the rear, because the mohair sticks together. I’m just not enjoying knitting with it.

I’ve thought of myself as a product rather than process knitter. I pick patterns based on what I want to wear rather than the enjoyment or learning a specific new skill. But this mohair has me questioning this!

I spent so much money on all the yarn for this sweater. It was more than I budgeted, so I decided it was my birthday present. I have it, so I don’t want to waste it. But I’m wondering whether I will be able to finish this sweater when I dislike the mohair so much. I’m just at finishing the folded over collar.

What do you do when you buy yarn that you end up not liking? How do you get better at choosing yarns?

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who dislikes mohair. I had the impression that it was a very nice, luxury fiber. Not for me!

Based on all of your lovely comments:
- The unused mohair skeins are in a bag and ready to return!
- I frogged what little progress I made and disliked knitting.
- I'll swatch the Sunday merino alone and see what that yields. Then consider adding something softer to the touch and less fluffy to it.

I knitted this jumper on my knitting machine, but it was in an unfinished state for a while. I finally got around to sewing the panels together and washing it today. It became way larger than originally intended. See photo and a corresponding entry in my journal

Planing to knit the bandana cowl by purl soho. I’ll be using Malabrigo Arroyo. It’s a sport weight yarn according to Malabrigo Have ~710 yards. To adjust the pattern I calculated:

96 stitches for cast on.

Then I figure divide that in half to figure where my GSR would be

Is this right or am I off?

I’ve made a couple of tiny flax sweaters for my baby, and one for myself, but wanted to try something new and make something more me in a hardwearing wool that I can wear every day.

I scoured Ravelry and landed on the Freckle Sweater by Duck Duck Knits. I really liked the style and the free pattern looked super easy to follow. I haven’t paid for a pattern yet because I’m still learning and like to look through a pattern to make sure I think I can do it before starting.

I used Debbie Bliss Luxury Donegal Tweed in the colour Pebble (42). I love the colour of this yarn, and it feels really hard wearing. It was easy to work with but I might have struggled with using it as my first yarn as it’s a bit harder to see your stitches or any mistakes (I am very much a beginner though and this is more a comment on tweed itself than this particular yarn).
I would say it feels lighter than an aran weight so looked a bit gappy/holey when knitting with 5.5mm needles, but when I knit my gauge swatch I did block it and it did seem to bloom/fill out a bit more. I haven’t yet blocked my sweater but even if it doesn’t bloom when I block it I’m still happy with how it turned out.

I followed the pattern with no modifications. I wanted a loose a line fit which is definitely what this is. I measured myself plus the full 24cm of positive ease at the top end of size 3. When I knit my gauge I was 17 stitches (maybe 18 😬)for 10cm so I decided to knit a size 4. I do like how it’s come out so I’m happy with this decision.
It took me a week to finish knitting about 2-3 hours a day. Maybe more some days!

I really enjoyed this and will definitely make it again!

Knitting a poncho using single strand lace weight mohair on 8mm (steel) needles following pattern from @amyisknitting

Row 1: sl1p wyif, then purl to end.
Row 2: sl1p wyib, then knit to end.

Does anyone know why the final slipped stitch edge at end of the row becomes super tight and unable to slide up my needle? I tried to pull it up but it snapped and I had to start over :( (thankfully was only a few rows in)

Am I just pulling the final slipped stitch too tight or am I possibly doing something else wrong?

I have started to knit the "Anders cardigan" from Kolibri by Johanna a few weeks ago. It takes me quite long because of the charted pattern, but the model is amazing so I really want to have it done.

One thing I would love to have your opinion on, is my gauge. I am a tight knitter, but my result on this looks quite loose, on the contrary to what the designer's photos show and many other persons who have knitted it on Ravelry.

I like the fabric I have obtained, and I wouldn't want to redo it as it has already been quite a challenge to get there for me, but do you think the result will be nice with wider holes and a looser gauge overall?

Maybe I chose too big needles or it's because it's cotton? so soft btw...

Besides, I am the only one to find that her patterns are quite hard to follow, not clear and very confusing? Maybe this is because I am still a relative beginner and this one is a bit complicated, but let me know if the pattern seemed clear to you if you did it. I personnaly prefer when steps are in the right order, following each other and explained in details, not having to go back and forth between the beginning of the pattern and different parts explaining things that you can forget as they are not referenced to when needed.

Hello all. I've made a couple of bits in the past, but this is my latest creation. Ignoring the fact that this is quite clearly an octopus, this is Squid Vicious. I've made him for a child I will be working with 1-2-1 at the start of the new school year. Hoping to buy his affection until the real love kicks in. What do you guys think?

This is my first non-scarf project that I’ve finished! It’s a hot pad! It doesn’t look amazing but I’m proud of myself! I’m a crocheter and so this was a challenge for me.

At the beginning of the year, I impulsively decided to make this mermaid snuggle sack as my first project after not knitting at all for almost 11 years. Even though I finished this back in April, I’m still so proud and shocked that I actually made it through knitting the whole thing. Hopefully I get possessed by the same knitting bug soon so I can finally finish one of my 5 WIPs 🫣

Trying to "break" out and expand my knitting from mostly just hats, I bought some great yarn on vacation and am making a Dragon Wing Cowl for the first time.

My husband just sent me this pic and said “can you knit me a hat like this - like the one in front”. The knitting part is easy. I just need to find a similar yarn. Thoughts? Thanks everyone!

I’m on the back piece and I’m really confused about how I’m supposed to do the decreases it just says to copy the front piece but I don’t understand how I would if it was left and right pieces before if that makes sense

I bought this cheap, polyester, cardigan when I was in a pinch. It's from Matalan and despite it being polyester I find myself reaching for it over and over again. I'm not sure if it's just the fit, the fact it's lightweight and soft but also warm, but I wear it more than my handknit wool jumpers.

Because it get's worn a lot and it's polyester, it's starting to look tatty but I'm also trying to move towards only wearing natural fibers. I want to recreate it and knit it myself but I've only ever made a Baby Sophisticate cardigan a long time ago, I have knit raglan jumpers. Can anyone suggest a pattern and/or yarn that would recreate the style, fit and feel of this cardigan? I have sensory issues so I think the big appeal of this item is the 'soft and fluffy' aspect of it.
