Raymond seems to be hungry quite a bit. I give him wet food, dry food, and a delectables once in a while as a treat. But, I'm not sure how often he should eat or if he should be on a schedule?

Rn I have canned food basically overflowing (friend gave me ALOT) my drawers are full but I do NOT want to run out again with two kittens and the giant cat. How often do y'all with three cats restock wet food to avoid running out(I only feed wet). Idk if I should wait til it's half or stock a little every paycheck to avoid it ever getting to half. I'm always running out when I don't expect it.

My senior female cat has bladder stones and she has authorization for different Royal canin health features. Urinary, urinary + calm, urinary + calm + aging. This is just so she has more food options to choose from as she’s extremely and dangerously picky, and I’ve spent hundreds of dollars just to figure out which prescription urinary food she will eat.

I ordered a small bag of the urinary + calm dry kibble and she really likes that one. I was thinking I might as well change it to urinary + calm + aging, but I’m worried it might smell or taste different and she won’t like it.

She also likes wet morsels but I got just the urinary version. I’d like to also move that one to the urinary + calm. I don’t think they have that specific flavor in +aging.

She hated the wet loaf flavor. Those I got in U+C+A (there another $80 😔)

ive been trying to find a kitten food that is somehow comparable to zealandia and affordable. anyone has tried this brand?

I took my 1 year old bengal/tabby cross to the vets today due to an extended bout of naaaaaaasty diarrhoea, parasites and viruses were ruled out and the vet said he’s got a very sensitive stomach and suggested chicken and broth with probiotics which I had already been doing for a week. He went off his food beforehand so was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to feed him when his stomach settles? Both wet and dry suggestions please (also, I am on a budget as I’m disabled.) Thanks in advance! 🙂

I’m from UK, I have a very 2 rescue cats from Dubai- one is a very fussy 14 year old. She doesn’t lose her appetite, however she goes off food very easily. We’ve tried all different foods but she’s not interested in them for too long. I’m thinking of trying her on Bella & Duke as I’ve heard some really good things about them, but she hasn’t tried raw in the past. Just wondering if anyone else has a fussy cat who has tried Bella and Duke and if they liked it? Or other things you’ve tried for your fussy cat? Thank you in advance

My senior girl on hospice is telling me that she's ready to go. She's not suffering, but she's starting to struggle, and so I've made her an in-home euthanasia appointment for this week. I'm devastated, but also weirdly at peace with the decision. It's time.

Looking for ideas on super high value treat stuff to offer her this week, including things that maybe aren't "good" for cats but they love, which she'll get the day of her appt. It can be actual items for cats, or other things like people foods. As long as it isn't straight up going to poison her, I'll consider it.

So far, I've decided to give her an unholy amount of cheese (her favorite thing on earth) (also not all at once), Churus, and some vanilla ice cream. Maybe even some cooked (or raw, since it won't really matter) chicken or fish.

Any ideas I may not have thought of??

good morning, I am adopting a 10 month old female kitty soon. she is 5.3 pounds, and I assume she needs to eat enough to grow since she isn't an adult yet and is quite small and active, but the advice I'm seeing online seems tailored to adult cats or newborn kittens. I have a ton of cans of wet food which I plan on adding water to to make sure she stays hydrated. One thing that's weird is that these cans don't say how many calories they are, and even if they did I'm not sure how many calories would support her correctly. I don't want to starve her but I also don't want her to be obese. Any advice?

Hey! Currently my cats are on applaws ocean fish complete dry food, I have two cats and one is intolerant/allergic to chicken (maybe poutry in general, he seems to react a little to turkey, but not as much), which unfortunately, is pretty much in everything in one way or another. I'm finding it hard to find a wet food to give thats affordable, I'm 19 and just got out of education so I dont have much money (trying to save to move out, too). Since I've taken over the care for the cats I've changed them onto a new dry food (applaws), guessing that my cat is intolerant to chicken. It has worked amazingly so I assume my guess was correct, no more runny poos etc.

But now I'm having trouble finding a wet food. Its hard to find an answer online, but are cats like humans with tuna, can they only have a few portions a week? I'm not talking about giving them human tuna, just cat food tuna based tins daily. It seems to be the only affordable thing I can find that doesnt include chicken.

If anyone has any wet food recommendations, please let me know!

I’m pulling out my hair over here trying to figure out what is happening with my prescription Purina e/n. Wondering if anyone may have a resource to see if they have changed formulas recently or if anyone else is having the same experience?

Both my IBD and non-IBD cat were eating the Purina e/n dry food happily for over a year and now they suddenly want nothing to do with it. The auto-feeder overflows with it every night because nobody wants it.

My IBD cat has also happily eaten the pate wet food for the last year and now he is repulsed by it. (Of course right after I purchased an entire pallet for $75). He is prone to picky eating while having a flare but I can usually entice him by opening a new can or sprinkling a bit of treat on top. NOPE, not anymore. It’s a struggle to get him to even consider eating that food in particular.

I also lent my friend a can for her cat who also eats e/n normally and he vomited both times he ate it.

What gives???? Id think maybe I just got a bad batch but what are the chances both the wet and dry food are bad batches?

I GAVE her cans to feed to her. Apparently even tho she said she'd wouldn't do it she left dry food out for her and didn't use the cans because "they stunk". I do not feed her dry food! If I would have KNOWN she wasn't going to feed her the meals I would have asked my friend to watch her instead and paid her to do it instead of paying my sister to watch her and feed her. Not only is her tummy upset but I offered her a wet food meal today and she wouldn't eat it. I tried another can. Still no. Idk what to do. I can't have carb heavy food in the house. Idk how to get her to eat her food!

I literally paid my sister to keep her in her playpen and feed her the wet food. What am I supposed to do?! How do you get a kitten to eat when they aren't interested?

Recently my boy cat was diagnosed with diabetes, when he was first diagnosed I immediately switched him over to the diabetic diet my vet recommended. Since I was recently injured at work I’ve had minor financial troubles and couldn’t immediately start him on insulin. Now that he’s on insulin and immediate danger is out of the way I want to get him back on a rotating diet. His vet has recommended a couple different options but unfortunately since my boys diagnoses he’s grown extremely picky.

We’ve tried the Purina Pro Plan DM Veterinary Diet, along with the Royal Canin Glycobalance. He seems to really like the RC dry food, but not the wet food and it’s the complete opposite with the DM diet. The vet was really adamant that my cat didn’t have to just stick with the vet diets, especially if he wasn’t a huge fan over them as long as they stayed in his food rotation. He would much rather him eat something that he liked as long as it was high protein/low carb so when I gave him his insulin he had a full tummy.

Now normally I wouldn’t come to reddit with this problem, I’d just do some research and find a couple different options but along with my boy being just diagnosed with diabetes, my girl cat start having seizures. When she had her first one I rushed her to the emergency vet, we did bloodwork, everything looked fine so they sent me home told me to keep an eye on her. She was fine for a couple days but then had another seizure, thankfully this one didn’t last as long but because she did have another one the vet recommended starting her on phenobarbital. Since she’s started it she hasn’t had another seizure. Now on top of me having to give her a liquid medication every twelve hours, and find a way to do it without traumatising her, I’m trying to find a food both her and her brother can eat without causing issues for the other.

My vet highly recommends keeping them on as similar diets as possible bc their entire lives they’ve eaten the same thing and anything my girl didn’t finish my boy would. Both my vet and I would prefer not to stress them out even further with massive behaviour changes to their lives, that have been allowed for years, on top of the medication.

If anyone has any suggestions I’ll gladly take them!

So to preface this, I am doing this out of my own personal interest. My partner is amazing; she has never once told me to get rid of my cat, she has never been cruel to my cat, or anything negative despite her moderate allergies to her. In fact, they have some quite funny interactions.

Also: she is very busy, but when she is less busy she has said she will get cat allergy shots done.

I want to maybe start adding a supplement to my kitty’s food now that may help decrease my partner’s allergies to her, and I want to know if anyone has had any suggestions or successes with any cat food supplements that reduce allergens!

My cat’s name is Deli. She is 8 years old, 8-8.5lbs, Domestic Shorthair. She is VERY picky with her food, so this is what I have found works best for her. Yes… I know she looks a little round but i promise she isn’t 😭😭. She just had elder cat routine bloodwork done and all came back perfect!

She is a grazer with her food and doesn’t eat a lot.

Her diet currently is:

Mornings:

- 1/2 cup Hill’s Science Diet Oral Care Cat Food
- Fresh bowl of water

Nights:

WET FOOD:
- water
- 1/2 tsp salmon oil
- a small, finely shredded piece of freeze dried tuna, shrimp, and maybe chicken if needed
- one joint supplement sprinkle capsule
- 1 purina pro plan calming supplement packet
- 1/3 of a churu

- Fresh bowl of water

This diet has formed a strong bond between me and her, helped alleviate her slight joint pain, and smoothed out and shinied up her coat (she felt like straw when i first adopted her).

Looking for suggestions for cat food for Thistle. She's about 4 years old, and has been struggling with urinary tract issues, which then formed bladder stones, which were removed in April. She's been on a urinary (c/d) diet, but her vet changed it to a k/d kidney support diet after testing came back on the stones as ammonium urate. She's not your typical kidney-disease cat though, and she may have a liver shunt causing all of this (TBD), and k/d food is super fatty and includes appetite stimulation, which her chönky self does NOT need. She's been eating Hill's prescription k/d since May, and cannot keep herself clean on top of everything else, so I get to do it for her, and will be cancelled for sure if she ever gets ahold of the internet. #meowtoo

What she does need is food that supports her hydration, kidney function, and has lower, but higher quality, proteins, while being lower in purines. She also shares everything with her brother Badger, who has none of these issues. Has anyone found anything similar to Hill's prescription k/d that doesn't cost a car payment? While we figure out the best long term solution?

My roommates and I are considering adopting a cat, but one of my roommates is allergic to cats. While discussing, I remembered seeing ads for Pacagen and I pulled up their website. They offer a powdered food topper for cats that supposedly eliminates allergens at the source (the source being the cat). I’ve found threads here on Reddit discussing the air spray and saying it works, but I can’t find much about this food topper. It seems legit just from my scouring of the website, but I want to find more testimonials. I was also planning on using the topper in conjunction with Purina’s cat food that also advertises allergen-eliminating results. Anyone have any knowledge they can share? It would be greatly appreciated!!

My cat recently had urinary issues and my vet initially recommended a struvite diet. Since it’s a bit out of my budget, they suggested Drools Vet Pro Urinary Tract instead, but the reviews online are making me hesitant.
Right now I’m finishing the Whiskas wet food and Me-O dry food I already had from before his issues started (yes, I know they’re not great😭). Looking to switch him to something better but not crazy expensive. Any recommendations?

I am aware purina one is better quality but I guess I’m curious by how much? I can get 4 more pounds of Cat chow naturals for $11 less but I’m wondering if that’s worth it or if I really should get Purina one instead.

For context I have a 6 year old tabby male that was 17lbs when last checked and indoors only.

my kitty is about 5 years old, i’ve always gotten her fancy feast (and recently tried smalls but she has absolutely no interest so now i have a freezer full of gourmet cat food she wont eat🙄) anyways.. i distinctly remember buying a fancy feast variety pack called ’surf and turf’, i believe it was tuna, salmon, and beef cans… she loves all three but now i can’t find any proof it was ever a thing!! i’ve just been getting the regular seafood pack and she couldn’t care less as long as theres food in the bowl but i feel crazy!! does anyone have any recollection of something at least similar? it was 100% fancy feast and not another brand.. kitty pics as thanks!!

hey all! my cat unfortunately suffered an injury and while healing the vet recommended sodium free chicken broth, i couldn’t find completely sodium free chicken broth so i was hoping someone could tell me if this is safe for her to have and for any broth, do i need to heat it for her?

edit 2: if you cannot respond kindly, move on. i came here to ask if its safe for a reason. i have been up for almost 2 days with an hour and a half of sleep at most taking care of my injured cat and just want to make sure she gets what she needs. i was not aware pet specific broths were a thing, i could not find a completely sodium free broth and i am not the one who bought it. to those who dont have a stick up their ass and have the ability to reply and answer without being passive aggressive or plainly rude about it, thank you. i will be looking for a pet friendly broth in the morning after her vet visit.
