Are they born in the same litter of kittens ?

Because it may explain why they are always together.

Except for my pair of littermates, who want nothing to do with each other.

However, we suspect Siefer ate Skittle's brain in utero, because it's the only way to explain why he is frighteningly intelligent and she's got the intellect of a plant.

That would still require them to work together at least a little. Instead Skittle avoids Siefer like the plague, and Siefer torments her by trying to sniff her, staring at her with malicious glee, and then chasing her while she hisses and growls.

Yes! The three are littermates. They love each other, but not their brother very much 😭
