We live in a dorm and we are taking care of a female orange cat(Shakira) and her litter of three kittens since she gave birth to them 5days ago. They are healthy and the cat is fed well, she has all of the cat food here, like wet chicken mousse that she previously loved. We have got her all kinds of cat food in the market and also boiled chicken, egg and rice. But Tonight she took one kid and ran upstairs to the fourth floor to a random persons room and went into a box. Even after we brought back the box she is trying to go back to that room and stay under their bed.

So we got some biryani for ourselves yesterday and she wanted some then we gave her in her plate. But we feel she felt betrayed and tried to jump and eat from ours which is not usual behavior. TODAY we bought biryani just for HER. SHE DIDN'T EAT ANYTHING ALL DAY NOT EVEN IMPORTED CAT FOOD and only ate that biryani at night.

How do we keep her with her kids and in this room where she is safe and fed and not elsewhere where they might get hurt.

Hi, I adopted a really skinny female who I was told is around a year old and she has a voracious appetite. I want her to put some weight on but don’t want to overfeed. I also think she may have had kittens at one point? Suggestions? (First 3 pictures are of her, Pumpkin. Last picrude is of Twinkie, my fat boy)

Whenever I stand in front of a bright like or something like that and my cat sees the shadows of my phone or my hand it starts fighting the shadows? She sometimes even fights her own shadow? Is that normal?

So my cat has only ever had one accident outside of the litter box and it was a my fault situation (i accidentally left the litter box somewhere he could reach, i felt horrible about it). that was well over a year ago. i recently moved my cat to a friends house, then to my new apartment in the span of a month, so it’s safe to say he’s stressed out. he’s eating and drinking and using his litter box like normal, until today. I came home from running errands and this strange poop ball (doesn’t smell but i didn’t want to put my nose too close, it just looks like poop) in the middle of my floor. that HAS to be poop, right? and i looked around my apartment and didn’t see a sign of an animal getting in….my windows were shut and my door was closed. Has anyone had their cat poop like this or is it possibly a hair ball? i’m super confused! it’s a little smaller than a golf ball size.

we found this sweet adorable baby yesterday. got her to the vet today since she’s a snotty girl, so hopefully with the meds and lots of love, she won’t be snotty anymore, just our girl. little baby is 8 weeks old and just three pounds.

we’ve kept her in a spare bedroom with a litter box, humidifier, blankets, and toys. she’s adjusted really well to indoor life so far! she’s been peeing and pooping in the box (still learning how to cover the poop and avoid stepping in it). she’s been eating wet food three times a day and has lots of energy to play.

we live in a two story home and she’s currently been confined to a room upstairs. when can we start introducing her to the rest of the house? so far this is day two indoors. i also worry about her ability to climb up and down the stairs so if we do decide to open up the rest of the house for her, we are definitely planning on putting a litter box downstairs as well.

anyone have any advice for owning kittens? it’s my first time and i just want her to have the best life possible.

Hey guys! I’ve been snooping this sub for ages now and finally have a question after seeing how much joy you guys’ kitties are having walking outside on a harness!

I always wanted my cat to be harness/leash trained but I’m not sure where to start with it. My cat was a stray baby kitten we adopted (she was around ~2 months old or so, little baby whose mother left and never came back according to the padel court staff).

Currently she is a spayed 1yo cat! She is very curious, playful and I was wondering if it was even possible to train her to go out on leash? She gets spooked easily ever since she ran out and went to our neighbours apartment (both of us were picking up deliveries at the same time and she bolted!) Ever since then she only looks at windows and the door when it opens and never tries to leave.

Also she is a shoulder cat, she loves sitting on us and maybe that might be a good thing for leash training?

For some context, I've had my cat for 6 years, his name is Jaan. I adopted him at 8 years and he has been a very shy kitty who requires a lot of patience. You can't pick him up, you can't pet hem, he is in general very very skittish and in general his tail is always low hanging. So we always assumed hes a grumpy old man, he used to live with a grandma his whole life.

Since 3 weeks I moved into my partner's house, and she has a 1.5 year male cat, called Rudy. We introduced them in a seperate room, feeding them together but with a window in between, ... The whole proper way. And that took about 2.5 weeks for them to get comfortable. It was a lot of hissing at first from my 14yo cat, but some times the small one would I assume look up play, and try to get on top of the old boy and give him some taps, which Jaan did not appreciate and hisses and growled back.

Since a few days we let them run together, they eat from the same bowls and both try to use the other their litter box (even when the other is literally looking at the other cat using his litter box). We try to avoid this, but sometimes it's not possible. They seem to tolerate each other as they've slept together on 1 bed, although keeping a bit of distance.

Now since a few days we've noticed that I assume is they're playing? Which is basically for what I want a double check. In general I've seen in this reddit that when they intend to fight, you'll know because it can get feisty and they're probably playing. But I just want to double check since it also seems like my older cat is bullying him? Not sure how to read this behaviour.

In the video you'll see my older cat chasing the younger cat. When Rudy isn't running away, Jaan will lay down and wash himself and wait until Rudy runs off again to chase him. Sometimes my cat would hiss at Rudy when he'd get too close in his face, so I'm a bit confused.

Hi friends! It's been almost a year since my little Toby passed away, and I wanted to do something in memory of him, but I'm not sure what to do. Do you guys have anything special that you like to do on your baby's birthday or day that they passed?

She is normally very quiet, yes sometimes she meows but not like this? Am I overreacting? Can she be disturbed by anything? (This shouldn’t be related to the background sound it’s just a noisy dryer machine we use all the time and her bed is downstairs) Both cats (4 months old) were checked and got their shots last week for parasites etc.

Does anyone else laugh at their cats after they tried and failed miserably at doing something? I mean, granted they’re not hurt or anything like that

Raymond has been a very good boy for four days. I kept thinking, How lucky am I to have fostered such a calm, well-behaved little kitten? He doesn’t bother my plants, doesn’t get into things, and just wants to follow me around, cuddle and purr.
Well… apparently Raymond was just giving me four days to get comfortable. 😂
Today I discovered that my sweet little angel may have a mischievous side after all. I have a feeling I’m about to learn exactly what it means to live with a 3-month-old kitten.
And the funniest part? I was only supposed to foster him for a few days. Now his name is Raymond Burr, he lives here permanently, and apparently he makes the rules. ❤️🐈‍⬛

Cats and kittens are being euthanized all the time for space issues or sickness (like this little one and his three siblings will be later today.)

Fostering saves lives and shelters give all the supplies needed including but not limited to: kennels, litter boxes, food, medications, etc!

I just had to boost fostering for a moment. Being a shelter worker is tough. I hate euthanasia but we can’t have sick or super young kittens in the shelter.

I’m visiting relatives who live on a small farm in a rural area. Their neighbor across the street is an older man who feeds a huge, semi-feral cat colony around his house. My relative tells me that he often finds dead kittens in the fields, that the cats get hit by trucks often, etc. Many of the cats and kittens are very friendly, but they’re all clearly in poor health—bellies swollen with worms, crusted over eyes, wheezing and coughing, thin, etc. the neighbor offered me as many kittens as I wanted, but I’m 1. flying out of here in a few days and 2. Live somewhere that doesn’t allow pets.

I’m horrified by the cats’ conditions, and want to do something. I floated to my relatives the idea of my taking the kittens to an animal rescue here where they could be adopted or at least TNRed in some cases, but I was strongly rebuffed. They say that because of the sicknesses the cats have (I’m vague on exactly what it is. They really didn’t want to discuss this), they’d be euthanized immediately, and that this neighbor is already on the animal shelter’s radar around here and that he’s essentially tried to cull the colony before but it just keeps expanding.

I’m sensitive to the fact that they have to live with this neighbor and I don’t, and also that farmers sometimes have different views towards animal treatment. But the thought of these poor, sweet cats suffering is making me sick, and I feel like I have to do something. Even if these kittens are euthanized, wouldn’t that be better than the suffering they’re in for? Or do I just need to drop this? What are your thoughts?

Perla is Elisia's kitten, she has always been very sweet with everyone, cats and humans.

She was born 11 July 2025 and is now one year old, I named her Perla because of her color (she was a bit lighter as a kitten) and is among the spayed girls.

Just like her mom she passes most of the time around my zone and the maximum length she goes is in the road that leads to the cat lady's house.

She had health issues but has healed thanks to ours and the tnr program cures.

She's very playful and often plays with Ricky or when she's alone she loves playing with fallen leaves.

She's also one of the cuddliest cats though she will bite at some point but still want more(?).

Since she had poor health last year we tried to get her adopted by the cat lady since she wanted a kitten but she wanted a younger one (in fact she adopted one of the younger nbc a couple months ago).

She follows my grandpa around a lot when he's in the garden and even plays close to him but won't let him pet her, it's funny to see him trying to get her attention though, considering he didn't like cats in the past.

As of today she's the cat I see more often I'd say as she appears everytime she hears a human coming, she roams a lot around the zone in general so it's easy to see her often even from up the balcony.

She doesn't like to be held at all even for a second which is a pity I'd love to pick her up.

Now that I was searching for pics I realized how much she looks up... Almost every photo of her I have is litterally 🐱👀 ⬆️
