Apt question/Rant?
I wonder how often the Apartment list is updated and who kinda manages that? I've lived in my apt complex 5 years and it's not on the list. Im also DYING bc im on day 9 of no working AC on the top floor with no timeline on a fix. I may just be cranky but I Def need them added to the list as not good. They've had 3-4 property management companies and with each one the services we originally got get cut a little more each time yet the rent obviously increases. I obviously plan on sending a strongly worded email and reaching out to the city (hoping i can get some traction there since they take money from HUD) as im one of like w0-30 people having issues w/our AC. I should also mention AC and heat come from the same units.
So in summary: don't live at the Avenue on 16th Ave sw bc they are slow to fix stuff, slap band-aids on bigger issues that cost more to fix and can never give a realistic timeline on repairs and expect you to just be OK with it. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
Any other suggestions like, I'll just be here festering.

No surprise that's income restricted housing. It's not cheap because many residents receive assistance

When I first moved in it was "income guidelines" but no assistance. We had lawn service, pest control, weekend security, secured doors that actually locked. At some point they started taking assistance and our services have dwindled and our secured doors dont really secure.

Did I mention we had a Sunday daytime shooting a couple months ago. First time anything like that has happened here. Like yea shamrock is around the corner but we've never had any issues like that before.

So what's the question? lol.
I work apartment maintenance for a company here in town. We have 3 properties across CR. If you are curious about anything feel free to PM me.
Having worked in apt. maintenance for over 5 years now, my experience is that smaller properties (if they have on-site maintenance) are the best in regards to turnover time on work orders.
I do maintenance for the property I live at which is about 80 units. I get about 5 work orders a week... which means if any emergencies come up like a broken AC, if they don't require a large amount of parts it's a guarantee same day fix. Emergencies such as a broken A/C when the temp is above 78 degrees get looked at within hours of being reported. The other 2 properties each have their own maintenance tech with about the same turnover time. Unless EPA certified, most maintenance techs can't really service AC units (refill refrigerant.) However besides being low on refrigerant the most common issues I see on AC units are contactors/run caps/motor failures which for your avg maintenance tech isn't that big of a deal.
In your case, despite what's wrong with the unit, they should have called a vendor to fix your AC on the first day you reported it.
Yes heat and AC come from the same unit... however in most cases they don't share the same components.
If your blower fan is working but just not putting out cold air you will probably still have heat.
everything really goes to hell when you start talking about roaming techs for properties without a dedicated on-site maintenance worker, which is what I would assume is the deal with your apartment complex.

Update: sent a strongly worded email to wich they essentially that's the known issue they've been dealing with all the units so their just going to swap it out again. Mind you it's our ac AND heating unit so I guarantee they won't work properly in the winter. So just another bandaid and who knows how long that'll last.

I dont think anyone really manages the doc, its just a public google doc so I think anyone can update it if you sign in to Google. If I recall, it was just a crowdsourced list when it was first made; people just added some comments in and stuff. So feel free to add in what you want.
