How does Dark Reader interact with the "Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents" flag enabled?

For me, Dark Reader still works the best to turn websites to dark mode. Because it's resource heavy, I started using the flag "Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents". It works okay for the most part, but fails in places where Dark Reader works fine. The other issue with the flag is that one can't easily toggle it on or off--it requires a browser restart.

I've also tried Night Eye, but it's not much better than the flag.

Question--if the flag is enabled and Dark Reader is enabled, how do they interact with one another. Is it complementary or conflicting? Ideally, Dark Reader could allow Chrome to render dark and step in when needed. This could reduce DR's overhead. I know I can toggle DR, but just wondering if DR requires the flag to be disabled.

I did do some testing and the result was inconsistent. I am posing this question to those who understands what is going on under the hood. Thanks.

I find it a complete waste of time to worry about Dark Reader's resource consumption. I use it on the desktop because it gives me better results than the flag. On mobile I use the flag because Dark Reader is unavailable.
