Daily Question Question Thread - August 28, 2026

This is the thread to post questions about churning for miles/points/cash. Just because you have a question about credit cards does NOT mean it belongs here. If you’re brand new here, please read the wiki before posting.

* Please use the search engine first - many basic questions have been asked before.

* Please also consider scanning (CTRL-F) the last couple days worth of Question threads

* If you have questions about what card to get, ask here. If you have questions about manufactured spending, ask here. If you have questions about bank account bonuses, ask here.

This subreddit relies heavily on self-moderation. That means that if you ask something that shows you haven’t done any research, you’re going to get a lot of downvotes.

Do business bank accounts (Sole Prop SSN) report to EWS? Specifically wondering if the "don't close for 6 months if you care about EWS" advice applies for these accounts as well.

Depends on the bank, but for the major churn banks the answer is yes

Has anyone successfully downgraded a Citi Strata Elite to the Strata Premiere or plain Strata? Just hit my 1 year anniversary. I called Citi to downgrade to one of the other Strata cards and was told that was not an option. My only options were to PC to a couple different American Airlines card options or an AT&T card. Called a second time with a different rep and was told the same thing.

other dps have said the same. look up the at&t

Those have been the only options for everyone so far. The AT&T card is a TYP-earning card, so that is what most people have been choosing.

Do the Strata Elite TYP transfer to the AT&T card?

I haven't seen an explicit DP confirming this, but yes they should.

Should I open the AAdvantage platinum card now before the 80k offer ends if I currently sit at 3/24 and highly value companion pass which I plan to go for in Oct/nov. Opened my latest card in June 2026 with the other two cards in Jan and March 2025. I can hit the spend requirements but I don’t want the AA card and my overall velocity to prevent me from get approved by Chase for the SW Business and personal cards.

Chase is not typically velocity sensitive outside of its own cards. Besides, 3 months between cards is not really a high velocity of churning.

Thanks! Sounds like I should go for it

I would like to apply for the Capital One BIZ Spark 1.5% Cash Select card, but I used the pre-approval tool and the pop up is only showing I'm pre-approved for the Spark 1% Classic, which I'm not interested in. I currently have the Capital One Venture X card and have a 780+ credit score. I do have a recent inquiry from Chase this last week (a card I was denied for) so am pivoting to this Capital one Spark BIZ 1.5% card. Since the Spark 1.5% card did not pop up in my pre-approvals, does that mean I won't get approved for that card? I have a big purchase coming up in two weeks so would like this card asap to help meet the SUB.

YMMV.

Is is worth trying to apply if it means another hard inquiry?

Unless you have anything in your plans for the next year that's inquiry sensitive.

Note that this card will count towards 5/24, if you care about that.

Same thing happened to me. They pulled all credit bureaus and declined me. Move on.

Technically the AA since there is a 48 month clock to get another card. But the Hawaiian is a good offer at 85k. AA frequently has elevated offers.

I did the SOFI bonuses through Rakuten. All of them show as “$0, pending” under shopping trips in the Rakuten app. It’s been about a week. Is there a chance these will change to the correct bonus amounts or am I likely SOL?

u/fit_body_ 4d ago

Give them more time. For me, most times I use Rakuten I get the bonus

u/pkfobster 3d ago

Of the times it did not work, do you know what caused them to fail? I have been iffy about using them since I bought some gift cards through them as a test and it didn't track.

u/fit_body_ 3d ago

Usually a code that they said was not in their site but it actually was listed. Give it some time then if doesn’t show up reach out to Rakuten.

u/pkfobster 3d ago

Good to know, I will wait a few days before contacting them next time I make a purchase.

Do you have screenshots. I had a similar issue when I did it. I had to wait a while but they fixed it

Can you get this if you've already churned Sofi directly (no portal)?

Does USBank Triple dipping take into consideration previous credit lines?

I'm considering dropping the 10k line on my Triple cash to 1000.

But I have a smartly at 25k that I don't want to drop the line on.

US Bank rejected me with "Maximum amount of unsecured credit already available". I then reduced the limits on my existing US Bank cards, tried again a few months later, and was approved.

But I would guess that you don't need to reduce all of your limits. If you dropped $10k to $1k, I'd think they would give you at least $9k on a new card. But if you want 3 new cards, maybe $9k total isn't enough...

u/VegetableActivity703 4d ago

Anecdotally yes. My first double dip I got 2x $14K CLs, my second I got 2x $6k CLs. I’ve seen others report similar results.

4

u/superdex75 4d ago

I always lower to $1k if there is not a 0% APR running before applying for new cards.

3

u/Dry-Enthusiasm3565 4d ago

I did a triple dip recently and $3k limits on all 3. I don’t think it matters much

Did you submit all 3 business apps the same day to combine the pulls?

u/ginto202 4d ago

are there any other communities/forums for churning?

I was targeted for the Chase for Biz Banking bonus. Tried to open via the email sign up link and went through application process — at the end I got “we don’t open this type of business account. Go in a branch to open this type”.

Anyone know what’s triggering this message? Business type has always been the same as my biz CC’s.

7

u/sneeze-slayer PIS | SOF 4d ago

Sole prop? Chase biz checking usually requires sole props to open in branch.

2

u/superdex75 4d ago

P1 yes, P2 no (they logged in with personal when applying).

6

u/notsoluckii 4d ago

Sign up for biz banking with your personal account login instead of your biz login and it should bypass the restriction.

2

u/superdex75 4d ago

P2 did that and it worked.

3

u/sg77 RFS 4d ago

Besides going in branch, some people had success online by not logging in to their existing business account.
