Daily Question Question Thread - August 31, 2026

This is the thread to post questions about churning for miles/points/cash. Just because you have a question about credit cards does NOT mean it belongs here. If you’re brand new here, please read the wiki before posting.

* Please use the search engine first - many basic questions have been asked before.

* Please also consider scanning (CTRL-F) the last couple days worth of Question threads

* If you have questions about what card to get, ask here. If you have questions about manufactured spending, ask here. If you have questions about bank account bonuses, ask here.

This subreddit relies heavily on self-moderation. That means that if you ask something that shows you haven’t done any research, you’re going to get a lot of downvotes.

my CSR Biz is coming up for renewal in a few weeks. Is it safe to use up the $300 Travel Credit before cancellation?

u/EarthlingMardiDraw 20h ago

It is highly expected for it to be clawed back based on the new terms. u/C-MontgomeryChurns, have they clawed back the credit yet? I haven't seen an update from your attempt.

u/C-MontgomeryChurns HOU, NDS 15h ago

No clawback👍. I'm actually genuinely surprised. Just re-loaded my IL tollway account since I'd need to do that anyways and here I sit a month later after closing the account with no clawback.

1

u/EarthlingMardiDraw 12h ago

That is excellent news. Maybe they just haven't actually figured out how to implement it since they never did it before. Who knows if they'll fix it in the future, but always nice to take the wins while you can.

If I had to guess, I'd guess that they can enforce it for the buy and refund cash-out method but don't have the systems in place to enforce it for the buy and close card method. Chase seems to be able to auto-clawback on e.g., CSP hotel bookings + refunds and Edit bookings + refunds, but they sure as hell didn't claw back my annual travel purchase and card closure. Got the AF refunded in full too.

Are US Bank and BoA the two most app-o-roma friendly banks out there? Or are there other banks I should look at?

4

u/superdex75 1d ago

Did Barclays twice with a single HP each. JetBlue personal and biz, HA biz and Wyndham biz. Not really an app-o-rama, but still OK.

2

u/rickayyy 1d ago

I've done double dips with both Bank of America and Barclay's and both times, they combined hard pulls.

I thought it was just USB.

Is transferring credit limit between business cards really a hassle with Bank of America? I called yesterday and they read me a long disclaimer, then asked for gross income, then my "business" gross revenue.

I got approved for a card with with $2k CL. I wanted to transfer $5k over from my other card that has a CL of $7k, but even once I answered those questions, I was told that a decision would arrive in 5-7 business days. My welcome offer is spend $5k in 3 mo to get $500.

That experience is way different than CHASE or AMEX where the phone call is painless or you can do it through the website easily. What is everyone else's experience with this?

1

u/snorkage 1d ago

I tried earlier this year and the reps I spoke to seemed to not understand my request (i think they thought it was for a credit line increase, but thankfully did not do a hard pull), and received a letter in the mail that they could not do it.

I just tried again last week after also getting approved with a $2k CL. I have not received a letter yet, but 4 days after making the request, I checked online and they did reallocate the credit as requested.

1

u/JPWRana 1d ago

Thank you for the data point. I still think it's way too much effort from BoA for this

1

u/snorkage 1d ago

Compared to other banks, sure. But the phone call saved me having to cycle my limit 3 times to get the bonus. Now I can just make the purchases I intended to for the MSR all at once.

1

u/JPWRana 1d ago

I hope my call was worth it.

1

u/sg77 RFS 1d ago

In my BofA Biz case it was slightly easier since they made the decision on the phone call instead of tell me to wait, but they asked me for business revenue & profit, and I think put me on hold for a few minutes before telling me it was approved.

For personal BofA cards I think they asked for my income, and quickly approved the limit reallocation.

1

u/JPWRana 1d ago

The difference between Gross income and gross revenue was huge. The gross revenue portion barely reached 5 digits. Looks like I need to put a higher number next time

1

u/sg77 RFS 1d ago

I had $5k business revenue, $0 business profit, and it didn't seem to be a problem (this was sole prop, with decent personal income).

Hmmm. So I applied for the spark cash plus and got rejected with an 800+ credit score. Probably because I churn a lot of cards. I was pre-approved for the spark cash before I applied. I wanted to go for the $2000 offer since I could meet it. Sadly I got rejected. What are the chances I could reapply for the normal spark cash card and get it? Or did I just screw myself over by getting rejected. Was hoping to get the card before the offere ends on 9/7...

u/CobaltSunsets IAD | PHL 1d ago

C1 is well known to hate SP’s for SCP and VXB, and that may have factored in here.

1

u/crusading_angel PIT 23h ago

SP=Soft pulls? So how does this affect my chances of applying for the spark cash card that i was initially preapproved for though? Or am I going to get rejected too and get a second hard pull?

2

u/CobaltSunsets IAD | PHL 23h ago

Sole prop’s.

1

u/pkfobster 15h ago

How are they with both legit and "biz" LLC's?

1

u/CobaltSunsets IAD | PHL 15h ago

Markedly warmer, but YMMV as usual with C1.

u/dunleavy005 1d ago

My skymiles for business account got login frozen and not due to cookies, but due to manual review of profile for business eligibility. They're asking for "Documentation confirming the legal business name and business registration (business license, registration document, incorporation filing, or similar documentation)" within 14 days. Does a driver's license with address count if you're a sole proprietor using SSN (not EIN)?

1

u/CobaltSunsets IAD | PHL 1d ago

I might offer that and a SS card (documentation of your tax ID).

u/superdex75 1d ago

Is anyone still getting auto-approved for a Chase biz card at x/24 if x>=5 with x including personal (all issuers) AND Chase biz cards (Chase only)?

u/bostonbaker300 BAG | ELS 1d ago edited 1d ago

I'm curious about this at well. When the first DPs came in, I chalked it up to random recon agents miscounting 5/24, which you could solve by HUCA. But there's been so many DPs of agents explicitly stating that Chase business cards count towards 5/24 that I wonder if this is an actual policy change that they implemented recently.

Another possibility is that recon agents aren't familiar with the cap on the number of open Chase business cards, which Chase implemented two years ago. And so they are attributing denials because of that reason to 5/24.

And is this only limited to Chase business cards? Has there been a DP of anyone denied or approved for a personal card at below 5/24 excluding biz cards yet above 5/24 including biz cards?

6

u/nice8080 1d ago

Yes, I have been approved in this scenario; here is my Data point and I guess I should post it on the data points but since people are curious here is what I did.

  • CSR Biz denial 2nd Chase Biz App 4/24 but Chase considered last year’s biz app also making it 5/24
  • Recon Call #1 - we count as the chase biz, you are at 5/24
  • Recon Call #2 - We talked about real estate for 30 minnutes, go the bank please and they'll have more authority. Need to provide bank statements
  • Recon Call #3 - Why are you calling again
  • Recon Call #4 - Same guy as call #1 - why are you calling again
  • Recon Call #5 - I said "I Don't know what the decision is, and I was disconected." Transfered me to acquisitions and then they transferred me to Underwriting. They asked "have you been using your CSP for the business?" I said yes, 5 minutes later. APPROVED.

5

u/grantwwu 1d ago

I'm so confused by that last question. They asked you if you've been using your personal CSP for the business? Or is that a typo?

3

u/superdex75 1d ago

Lol, but again, you were also auto-denied at 4(personal)/24, which generally lead to auto-approvals in the past.

3

u/churnawaybaby 1d ago edited 1d ago

I was denied (twice) for chase biz cards while at 4/24 personal cards. The automated system was counting biz cards and incorrectly declaring I was above 5/24. I called in and the reps read off the reason for denial and stated 5/24, but when they counted it themselves (properly not counting biz cards) they realized I was at 4/24 and there was a mistake and reprocessed. I’m 2 for 2 recon recounting correctly, not only 1 resulted in an approval. The denial during recon was because they didn’t want to extend more credit even though I was determined to be at 4/24.

1

u/nathan3610 1d ago

The business cards won’t affect 5/24. So personal 5/24 and # of chase biz cards <=2 will give you the best chance.

3

u/superdex75 1d ago

I know, but if you read the last DP threat, there are issues. Many denied at 3/24 or 4/24.

2

u/grantwwu 1d ago

Out of curiosity tried to see what my Delta SkyMiles Gold offer was, given the current elevated offers.

Had pending -> denied twice before for velocity related reasons.

This time got a pending, but application status site said "cancelled?" What does that mean?

I tried again in case I managed to mess up the application and the same thing happened.

1

u/YouBuyMeOrangeJuice 1d ago

Was trying to do the same. Got insta-denied. 3/24, 2/6

Has anyone used their Amex Gold $10 monthly dining credit on the last day of the month with Grubhub?

I haven’t used my August credit yet and was thinking of placing a Grubhub order today (Aug 31). Does Amex count it toward August based on the purchase/transaction date, or is there a risk it won’t process until Sept 1 and ends up using September’s credit instead?

2

u/garettg SEA | PAE 1d ago

As long as when the transaction finalizes, it comes as Aug 31, then it uses Aug's credit. Problem is even if you use it today, there is always the chance it will come with Sept 1 as the date, no way to know for certain. Probability is high it will be Aug 31, but thats the risk of the last day of the month. I try to use mine before the last day at the latest if I can to be safe.

2

u/DimaLyu 1d ago

I don't know if this is YMMV, but my GrubHub transactions always post a day after the initial order is made.

1

u/Junior_Definition_74 1d ago

I’ve missed credit for using it on 28 for a 30 day month because transaction posted on 1st of next month

Barclays AA card opened 8/8/25 migrated to Citi AA Plat Select in April. It completed a year on 8/8/26 but Citi has charged no $95 AF yet. Is this weird?

1

u/exhys 1d ago

don't look a gift horse in the mouth

1

u/miztressuz 23h ago

Citi charges the fees on the last day of the statement, so you don't see it until the statement closes. If last cycle didn't include the anniversary you should be seeing it on the September one.

I expect mine in a couple weeks when this cycle closes. We'll see.

I understand things are constantly changing and "no one knows" with Chase tightening up, but I have a p2 who has never had any biz relationship with Chase.

I want to try and double dip 2 biz applications for them at the same time when we first start the biz cards. What's the ideal way to go about this? 1 ink + 1 cobrand, or CSRB or try for 2 inks?

I originally intended to try and apply for the 2 Fee-Free inks same day, just to see but not sure that's best strategy now

-1

u/Alternative_Camp_359 1d ago

You can really double dip with Chase. Applying for 2 cards in the same day is not recommended.

Trying to use Fidelity as a hub for a U.S. Bank bank bonus and wanted to check the correct setup.

When adding the external bank through Fidelity EFT, it asks whether I’m sending money to “Myself” or “Someone else.” does it matter which one I choose?

I’ve seen DPs suggesting some churners pick “Someone else” because the ACH may code differently and trigger DD at certain banks, even when the receiving account is actually theirs.

Looking specifically for recent 2026 DPs. Thanks.

P2 at 5/24 : deciding between Chase United Biz, Chase Ink Cash, other Non-Chase Biz, or wait for <5/24?

P2 at 5/24 now, drops <5/24 by Jan 2027. Chase relationship: CSP, CIU (opened Apr 2025, 75K SUB earned), Older CFreedom, active Chase biz & pers checkings, excellent credit, low util, PIF. [Total Chase CL: 10K on CIU; 16K on CSP, 9K on CF; biz revenue 30K]

Prior Chase biz denials:

  • United Biz, May 2025 denied/recon: new Chase biz card recently opened + too much available credit
  • Ink Cash, Dec 2025 denied/recon: too many recently opened accounts + new Chase biz card

No new Chase biz since, so CIU is now ~16 mo old.

Options:

  • United Biz: 100K UA + 2K PQP / $5K. Some >5/24 approval DPs floating around, so wondering if worth a shot despite the prior denial.
  • Ink Cash: elevated 100K UR / $8K in 4 mo, $0 AF. Better currency IMO, but P2 already earned the CIU SUB. New "may not be available" no-AF family language: DPs mixed. Planning to rely on the pre-hard-pull eligibility popup to test SUB eligibility before any inquiry: is that popup consistently seen, or do people still eat pulls?
  • Non-Chase biz now: Atmos 70K/$4K, Citi AA Biz 65K/$4K, USB Triple Cash $750/$6K. (Skipping Venture Biz since CapOne adds to 5/24.) which would you prioritize?

What P2 is weighing:

  1. United Biz now: high offer + soft benefits, but prior denial and still at 5/24
  2. Ink Cash 100K now; leaning on the popup; worried about the prior Ink denial repeating
  3. Non-Chase biz now (which?), will go to Chase biz cards once back to <5/24
  4. Just wait (I know, not why anyone posts here)

3

u/bruinhoo 1d ago

If they are 5/24, no point in wasting an application on a chase biz card now, don’t you think. Also keep in mind they are almost certainly ineligible for the Ink Cash anyways.

For the Paze credit on NewEgg, does buying an item that is $9.99+tax trigger the credit, or does it need to be $10+ before tax?

15

u/nathan3610 1d ago

Total after tax

4

u/mets2016 JFK 1d ago

Pretty much all credit card offers, this one included, are based on the total amount charged to the CC

Churning adjacent:

I'm supposed to be hiking into Havasupai next week and the Grand Canyon is getting destroyed with flash flooding right now so I'm pretty confident I might screwed and will need to rebook or get refunded for the permits.

I have a non-refundable hotel for the middle of nowhere Arizona for two nights that I booked via Citi Travel using the Citi Strata Elite $300 hotel credit for this trip. The flash flooding isn't affecting the hotel at all so I'm guessing I'm screwed on getting any sort of refund? I'm also assuming the hotel and Citi Travel will just point fingers at each other and say talk to them.

Anyone have any success stories with something similar?

9

u/lenin1991 HOT, DOG 1d ago

I had a nonrefundable hotel booked via the Chase portal in New Zealand. There was flooding that didn't make the hotel unreachable, but made it unreasonable for my intended routing around the island and where I was at that point. I reached out directly to the hotel nicely and they refunded me.

So doesn't hurt to ask, but don't expect anything.

4

u/Dry-Enthusiasm3565 1d ago

Just call the hotel and ask, especially if you’re interested in going to the property at a future date. I’ve found more often than not ‘non refundable hotels’ are helpful, and are either willing to refund or let you delay your stay to a future date. I don’t expect Citi to do anything.

1

u/rickayyy 1d ago

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so I'll never go back there so I might have to try the refund route.

I've never seen this Amex popup before. It doesn't mention not being eligible for welcome offer, therefore, I'm good to accept and get the signup bonus, right? $20K is a big spend, so just making sure.

https://imgur.com/GzeUPNI

7

u/TeamArrow 1d ago

If you didn't get the popup you're good to go. Message seems to be the standard language they use.

The popup would clearly say that you are not eligible for the welcome offer.

I have to purchase a new AC unit for $12000. I have a 770 score, over 120k in open credit lines, 10+ years history on some, and very low utilization around 5-9 % but is paid off monthly.

The only card I recently opened was a new AA card before my old one shifted to double dip on the welcome bonus.

I have a Delta Amex Gold, Chase Sapphire, Chase Bonvoy Boundless, (2) Citi American Airlines Platinum, Amazon Prime Chase.

What active spend offers can i hit with the 12k that also offer 12 month 0% apr?

2

u/best-quality-catfood 21h ago

Always worth checking for 50k/75k BBP offers if the vendor takes Amex. CIC 100k would work as well but if it's a "business" app the credit line will probably be $3-5k so not useful if you want it to sit at 0% for a year.

-10

u/lovealwayskota 1d ago

Hopefully I'm posting in the correct place.

Curious when it is worth it to open another CC and when it's overkill? I have about 8 credit cards, I only use one of them and pay it off every month... it's a BOA 1.5% cash back on all purchases. I sometimes uses my Discover if it has a 5% gas reward option.

I'm seeing a Wells Fargo CC with 0% APR for one year, and 2% cash back rewards, as well as $200 cash back after $500 in purchases. Should I open another card for these benefits? Will it flag me? Is it overkill? Is there a better card I'm missing? Credit score is good so no issue there.

I opened 6 CCs (3 personal, 3 biz) in half a year, and there are people here who have opened way more than that.

Just opened my 9th card this year between me and P2. That puts me at 16 open cards and 9 for P2.

This subreddit is for churning which means the answer is it’s ALWAYS worth opening another card!

Opened 14 so far this year and P2 another 4. I'm sure there are some with more here.
