Damnā€”updated Google Maps on my phone too. Apple maps still says Lake Ontario at least. I hate how so many companies will happily bend the knee to a fascist tyrant. (Apple included)

I switched to mapquest lol tbh it's pretty similar to google maps but they said they won't change the name so for me that's good enough for now

Or even clever. This has the same feel as Batman naming every object in his possession with "Bat". Batmobile, Batcycle, Batwing, Batcopter, Batboat, Batmicrowave, Batchair, Batcomputer, Batwhateverthefuck.

Except it's kinda funny when Batman does it.

Mapquest is still apparently a thing and they refuse to change it. And they have an app.

Them changing it only for American ip address is on par with Russian cities dropping the gas prices for when Putin rolls through (then jacking them back up when he leaves). Just massaging the tyrannical dictators balls is all it is

Australian here, still says Lake Ontario. Still says Gulf of Mexico but (Gulf of America) under it

I read elsewhere that because USGS is part of the Dept. of the Interior, all that Trump needed was the thumbs up from the Secretary of the Interior he appointed to make it happen officially. The lake's official name at all levels of US government is now Lake America.

Right? Does this mean Canada can change the name of Lake Superior to something like Lake Canada? (Or Lake Epstein)

I saw a Reddit post with a work-around. I changed my Google map location to originate from Canada. So now mine says Lake Ontario as well (I'm Canadian working in LA) but I deleted Google anyway and I'll be using DuckDuckGo now.

"Edit Label" in Google maps and change it back. At least you won't have to see it as Lake-Distraction-From-Epstien-Files

Switched to HERE WeGo. So far it's been a reliable map (Android).
