TBC GDKP

I have never swiped and never will, but i will tell you what has actually changed from banning GDKP.

Swipers(Whales): the people who could easily bid 100k on a item week one, those people still buy their items, most of the time in raids run by 1-3 ppl, HR'ing the things that has been pre sold.
the only thing that really changed for this guy, is that he now has to keep it lowkey, the rest of the raid apart from the hosting core is unaware of the sales, since it will only make it more risky for seller/buyer, but Mr swiper will still get his items, most likely even for a discount compared to GDKPs.

Raid leader: most of these people was running gdkp's last time around, and have already build a solid network to find the Whales. what changes for this guy is that he will generally have a weaker raid, since people have low incentive to preform in SR vs GDKPs.

Leaders will have less raids to host, since he is now hosting for individuals instead of the community, but each raid is significantly more rewarding because he is not splitting the pot 25 ways.
On top of that the meta has also moved from selling the trash drops as a goodie bag to automatically being hard reserved, which is another significant increase in pay.

For the average raider:
SR:
It is straight forward, you put your SR's, if they drop you roll against most other people of your role, your chance to win on average going for the good stuff is pretty low(Item has to drop, you have to beat X players)
In SR you have no bad luck protection, you lose the roll, the guy who wins might or might not be here next week, either way as soon as he has all the loot he needs, he will either stop raiding or come on a new character, meaning that you are most likely gonna be fully contested again.

If you win or not, you will still have to find gold to socket/enchant your gear and replace your consumables, this means you will have to spend hours doing content which most people don't find very interesting, which in my opinion actually pushes more people to buy gold just to sustain.

If someone choose to leave your raid mid run, finding a new guy will be hell, even if you do find one in a decent amount of time(you most likely wont without a big network), it will negatively affect your raids morale, that he gets to pick his SR's when everyone else have already locked theirs in.

While SR is generally okay as a loot system if you play with complete randoms, a lot of the time you will be facing guildies, who will set you up for failure on your odds of winning stuff.
SR is a whole mini game in itself that can be abused drastically if you don't realize what is going on around you.

Lastly SR always comes with HR. Even if it isn't announced, the raid leader will at least take the boe's, and more often then not 1-2 bis items, or a whole tier set will also be HR'ed.
Without HR the raid leader doesn't have any incentive to take care of his the raid.

GDKP:
In a GDKP just like in a DKP guild, you are always rewarded for showing up, and doing your job. Your cut at the end will easily pay for your raid consumes and give u something to take with you to the next raid, incase you choose not to buy anything.
Nothing is ever HR'ed, things might be pre sold, but that is usually stuff like glaives and even then you gain your cut of that sale. on average this is a gold increase for you.
The leader gets a bigger cut to make sure the raid operates smoothly, just like when you farm Stratholme for gold, fast and smooth raids means higher gold per hour for raid leaders.

Just like in a guild, you might not be able to immediately buy the BIS item you want week 1, there might be a whale or 2 around, but even then your reward for doing the raid gets significantly increased, the whales will quickly acquire their items, the gold they bought is split to the average player and the prices goes down fast.

If you really want your BIS item on your main, or need money to get into playing GDKP's, make a support class in high demand like Enh/Balance/SP/Healers etc. Raids don't wanna wait 30 minutes to find the last guy, if you have a vital role, they will not care that you leech, as long as you can at least do the bare minimum, You wont get called out on a boomie for not doing high dmg, but you will get called out for not keeping FF up.

If you have 0 gold and you play a class that has 20 times higher competition for a spot like rogue/warr, you obviously will get rejected in the door, unless you can prove with logs that you will actually make the run more smooth.

Just like in guilds, there is people who is last in line to get their items, but in GDKP that is a huge net benefit over each tier, as you will eventually be able to take most upgrades at a min bid.

Yes there is situations that might feel unfair as a new player, and might cost you your cut, but this is way more rare then people make it out to be, and at least understanding what content you are heading into is only fair for the 24 other people relying on you.

as a last note on GDKP, You never have a situation were some1 leaves and you get stucked, the closer you are to finishing the raid, the more likely it is that someone is willing to join for the leavers cut. which makes it an enormously easier to host raids without fully screening everyone.

TLDR: banning GDKP only made the average joe poorer, and pushed the money further towards the raid leaders instead of the raiders. The Whales still gets their items, and now at a discount because he doesn't have to pay you anymore.
Leaders get higher cuts, you get nothing, that means you either swipe or farm to sustain each raid, that means you raid less.

Classic-Era Impossible to farm honor on Era?

I am a casual gamer on Firemaw Era (EU)

I joined an AV on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. The games lasted 9, 6 and 12 hours each. Now I have 37000 honor and the reset is tomorrow. How am I supposed to get epic gear with PvP?

Season of Discovery Has Scarlet enclave been cleared without world buffs AND with max 20 raiders?

I've been combing through https://sod.warcraftlogs.com/zone/rankings/2018 and can't find any raids that completed it either without WBs or without having more raiders to compensate. Can't seem to find an example.

Always thought the raid was overturned (I know it's easier now than when released).

Discussion Why do people say “no new classes, they’re too hard to balance!” as if classic even cares about balance in the first place

They should add one new class every 5 years or so. New classes and/or specs are hype and help grow the world. Classic has never been balanced, so why do we all of a sudden care about it when it comes to adding new classes? Make it make sense please

Classic-Era Classic prequel

I wanna preface by saying I have no opinion on classic+, whether it be wow 2 or finishing vanilla

But how crazy is this prediction from 2 years ago aligning with current “leaks” coming out

Classic-Era What is one thing Retail WoW does better than Classic?

I love Classic WoW, but I think nostalgia can sometimes make us forget that Blizzard has actually improved a lot of things over the years.

For me, things like better quest tracking, inventory management, and overall quality-of-life improvements are hard to argue against.

But I'm curious what everyone else thinks.

What's one thing Retail WoW does better than Classic?

And would you actually want that feature added to Classic, or would it ruin part of what makes Classic feel like Classic?

Discussion I'm excited for C+ if it exists.

I love classic wow, never played any expansions or SoD and I'd just want to play classic era again, with a fresh server, economy and some balance and new content like dungeons. That's all I really want from C+, maybe give some zones a new look too but that could be pushing what C+ is actually going to be.

Main thing is jumping in at launch and everyone is level 1 again on the slow grind to 60 :')

Classic-Era Transmog + toggle in classic or classic+

Would you be open to having transmog in classic or classic+ if there was a toggle option, meaning you could turn it off visually and only see the gear that players are actually wearing instead of what they transmogrified their gear to look like?

In my opinion this would be a great solution to everyone. I want transmog in classic, but I fully respect that many people don’t want.

Yes, but only if it can be toggled off
Yes, but no toggle needed
No transmog even if there is a toggle

Question Would I get a chance to do older raid content once wotlk releases?

Hi,

I never done raid content before. I have very little free time, I couldn’t even reach level 60 yet. I wanna do all the end game content (vanilla AND tbc). However, I think wotlk is approaching. Will I be able to find people to do older content like naxx even after wotlk release? How often do people revisit old content? I wanna experience every raid at least once.

Thanks

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Black Temple Attunement is bugged

You can enter Black Temple without getting attuned, and without even being eligible for the attunement.

If you just stand outside the entrance to the raid when Akama and Maeiv complete their RP, you will become attuned. Doesn't matter if you have A Distraction for Akama in your quest log at all. And yes, just like the regular attune, all of your characters account wide become attuned when you do this.

My friends and I tested this on multiple characters and accounts and confirmed this works.

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Paladin Healing Sim

Post image
27 Upvotes

Hey,

I built a little Holy Paladin healing simulator. If you're bored at work or killing time between raids, this might scratch that itch.

It's got a proper spell kit (Flash of Light, Holy Light, Holy Shock, Judgement of Light, Divine Favor, Lay on Hands) with real cast times, sounds, GCD and spell queuing so casts chain the way they do in-game. You can batch Divine favor into FoL/HL and Holy Shock for example. You're healing a full 40-man raid across 6 different bosses, each with their own mechanics such as variable tank counts, raid-wide damage etc. Rival healers (paladins, priests, a druid) are doing their own thing alongside you, and you get a healing meter + HPS breakdown at the end of each fight.

Cannot link so included link in the image.

There is no leaderboard or anything fancy. Toggle between classic class colored raid frames or modern dark look.

It's really simple but fun to just log in and heal something for x minutes. Thanks, have a nice day!

Classic-Era TBC v Classic Rogue levelling experience

Helloooo, I'm hoping some rogue afficienados can chime in with some insight on how different levelling a rogue is between TBC and classic. I'm on the fence right now, I have a couple characters on a TBC server but I'm really looking for the classic experience and don't want a levelling experience that's too easy. I'm not going to be in many dungeons, mostly solo the whole way through. I'd like to try and go subtlety as that's always felt the most roguelike too. Thanks in advance!

WotLK Iniciante em Warlock - WoW 3.3.5

Upvotes

TBC Steady Seaspray Emerald not in the game?

It's supposed to be in the game with P3, atlasloot aswell as wowhead list it as a honored Hyjal rep item however the vendor does not have it. It's not a trash drop either and there are no notes on no website regarding this beeing the case. Waybackmachine shows the item existed in P3 last TBC when looking at chars on the PvP ladder back then.

tl;dr i need a timmy to create a forum post about this :)

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms The End

Writing this as a sort of farewell and to see where everyone else’s guild is at with this new phase release.

We are at a point in our guild where we just constantly get 15-18 sign ups a week. Every week we try to pug other players during the entire week and can consistently find 2-3 good people a week to sign up but usually they just don’t show anyways after signing up on discord.

Usually it’s easier to recruit about an hour before raid but it’s like 50 raids looking for people with your usual 8 rogues and 7 fury warriors in LFG. And everyone in the raid wants a perfect comp so they can play their class at maximum efficiency.

Plus the raids are incredibly long this phase along with the shadow res / rocket boot requirement on mother. And I don’t know how anyone else feels but do some people play without a monitor because Jesus man. “Classic is easy and is already solved” then why does no one ever know how to play their class or the game. And I’m not talking about sweating their balls off just playing with their hands on their keyboard and eyes on their screen.

I don’t know, from a GM perspective of a “dad guild” who ran SSC in 52 min and TK in 45min, this phase is just killing the game for me. I would love to swap to another guild and see how that goes but who wants another fury warrior lol.

Like I said not trying to bitch and moan just trying to get my opinion out there and see if anyone else is experiencing this.

Classic + Classic + will not be a new game

  1. Blizzard ain't making a brand new MMORPG in just 2 years.

  2. Blizzard are allergic to taking risks. Making a new game and not just using Vanilla as a platform, changing graphics, not having the vanilla experience, putting tons of new untested stuff in, these are all massive risks they will not be willing to take.

What you will get is Era, with some class balancing, some new dungeons and raids, maybe some new reps to farm and some PVP zones. Which is the safe, guaranteed crowd pleaser for minimal effort and risk.

Anyone believing the new game nonsense is dumb.

Classic + Leveling Phases in Classic +

Do you guys think / want there to be leveling phases similar to how SoD did it or would you prefer to be able to hit max level from the start? I personally loved the phases and being able to spend more time in the earlier zones. Would love to get everyone else's thoughts as well. Apologizes if this has been asked before.

Humor / Meme Classic+ needs to actually be something special

If Blizzard announces Classic+ at BlizzCon (which obviously they are 100% sure to do), I really hope it’s more than Vanilla with a couple new raids

Sure, finish the unfinished zones, add real class quests, make professions matter, keep the level cap at 60, and expand Azeroth horizontally instead of starting another expansion treadmill. And yes, please redesign the entire engine from the ground up. Sure

More importantly, make the world inconvenient again

Make maps inaccurate since cartographers are never going to make GPS-perfect maps

Let the Horde literally burn down Stormwind. Make it so that it takes 6 real life months to reconstruct it, probably with daily resource turn-in quests

If Magni dies on your server, he should be dead forever

Ships should run on actual schedules. If you miss the boat, wait 45 minutes. Sometimes the boat should sink

Inns should have finite room capacity. If the inn is full, you sleep outside and log in with a temporary “Poorly Rested” debuff

Auction houses should only operate during business hours

Players should be able to insure packages, but insurance claims should take six weeks and should mostly be denied

NPCs should occasionally solve their own problems if you take too long and then resent you for wasting their time. You suffer permanent faction reputation loss for this

There should be intermittent infectious disease outbreaks that have a 10-20% chance of leaving a permanent, debilitating debuff on your character

And obviously none of this should be datamined, so Blizzard would need to rewrite the client and probably employ lots of people whose sole job is physically preventing Wowhead contributors from discovering anything

Look, I'm just talking the BARE minimum here, Blizz!!

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms So, How’d Your Guild’s First Lockout Go?

We full-cleared Hyjal on one night and cleared up to Council on the other. Both nights started late due to people scrambling for attunements and release day not being a regular raid day. One shot everything except Archimonde and Bloodboil which took an extra attempt each. Was surprised we one shot Gorefiend and Mother. Just decided to wing it without any shadow resist prep and it turned out fine. Looking forward to Council and Illidan next week. How did your guild’s release week go?
