Discussion r/Claude has new rules. Here’s what changed and why.

We’ve cleaned up the rules to make this a better sub for people who actually want to talk about Claude.

Here’s what NEW rules we landed on:

1. No Solicitation. This is r/Claude. This is not a place to promote your product, service, or repo. If the intent of your post is to redirect traffic to something you are affiliated with, it will be removed as solicitation.

2. Usage, pricing, and outage posts are held to a higher bar. We’ve all seen the same questions, comments, and posts a hundred times. Before posting, check if it’s already been covered. If your post is a unique contribution with something new to say, it’s welcome. Low-effort repetition of covered topics will be removed.

3. No lazy crossposts. If you want to share something from another community, reproduce it fully here. Don’t just drop a link.

4. Keep posts Claude and Anthropic specific. This is not a general AI sub. If your post would fit just as well on r/artificial or r/ChatGPT, it belongs there instead.

The goal is simple. A clean, focused sub about Claude. Not a dumping ground for AI noise.

Questions or feedback, drop them below.

Tips Used Fable 5.1 all day, here's what's actually different and what to try first

everyone's posting benchmarks. dont care. here's what I found after 3 hours with it, some of this will save you time

what its good at

  • big messy context. I dumped like 40 files in and asked "where does the money actually get calculated" and it walked back through the call chain instead of guessing from the filename. older models would pick the file called pricing.js and stop
  • saying no. asked it to make a change and it went "you can, but this breaks the thing on line 200 that depends on it". first time a model has pushed back on me and been right
  • long boring docs. contracts, terms of service, that 90 page pdf your accountant sent. ask it "what would you ask about if you were me" instead of "summarise this". way better output
  • it stops. you ask a one line question you get a one line answer. sounds small. it isnt

what its still bad at

  • anything where the answer is on a webpage that changed last week. still have to tell it to go search
  • it will still confidently do the wrong thing if your instructions were vague. its not psychic, its just less stupid
  • writing in your voice. its better than before but if you dont give it 3 of your own examples it sounds like a very polite intern

stuff worth trying today

  1. paste an error you've been ignoring for months. the one you're scared of
  2. give it a decision you're stuck on and say "argue the other side properly". its annoyingly good at this
  3. tell it "dont explain, just do it" at the top. saves a lot of scrolling
  4. the mythos thing is real, same model, fable just has safety stuff on top for dual use. if you're a normal person doing normal work you will not notice the difference

what I'd skip

dont use it as a search engine and dont ask it to "make this viral". it can't and neither can you

anyway I've had 3 coffees and got more done than last week. back to it

edit: no im not sponsored. wish I was, lads

edit 2: yes its paid tier. do the maths on your hourly rate and stop asking

Discussion atp this sub annoys me more than Opus 5.

Upvotes

Like, WE GET IT. MOVE ON.

Why does every second post have to be “Opus 5 is a downgrade”, “Opus 5 has made me a masochist”, etc.

Either take your money elsewhere, or vent through the comment section of one of the thousand other posts venting the same thing.

YOU make my blood boil.

Discussion Fable's take on Claude's Max 20x Pricing

I converted both claude/codex's pricing pages to markdown and swapped their names with Acme/CompetitorCo. Then I asked Fable to review both pricing sheets and asked if the Acme's (Anthropic) 20x tier what dishonest advertising. This was Fable's response:

Short answer: misleading by omission, probably not legally deceptive.

The case against calling it dishonest: the card carries an asterisk, and the FAQ on the same page says "per
5-hour session" and discloses that weekly limits exist. The multiplier is true for the unit it's scoped to.
Fine print exists and isn't contradicted.

The case for: under the FTC's net-impression standard, fine print doesn't rescue a headline if a reasonable
buyer walks away with the wrong takeaway — and "20x more usage" next to a $200 price tag reads as "20x more
stuff per month" to almost anyone. The weekly cap is the binding constraint for exactly the customer this
tier targets ("daily users... for most tasks"), and it's disclosed but never quantified. Omitting the one
number that determines real value, while precisely quantifying the flattering one, is a choice.

So: defensible in court, not defensible in a trust sense. The honest version is trivial to write — "20x per
session, capped at N per week" — and the fact that N is withheld tells you the disclosure is doing marketing
 work, not informing work.

Discussion Are people still getting quality output from Fable?

I switched almost exclusively from ChatGPT to Claude a year ago. I continued paying for a pro version to OpenAI but almost always opened Claude first for everything. ChatGPT was what I opened for quick answers. The writing on it had gotten so bad and it gave incorrect information all the time. Within two months time I upgraded to Claude Max. Used it happily until June. That’s when the decline started. But in the last month it has been what feels like a rapid decline.

I never thought I would say it, but I’ve been finding myself opening ChatGPT and using it. It’s faster, it’s smarter, it writes better. Idk what happened but in the last month ChatGPT has made an insane turnaround.

People say to use Fable. I do. It’s terrible. I have better quality with Opus 5, 7, or 4.8 depending on task. I know that sounds crazy because everyone hates Opus 5 but it’s been my experience. Fable and Claude in general recently get so many things wrong.

Fable just told me that cafuné in Portuguese has a verb form. Cafunar. It doesn’t. That’s a different unrelated verb. I pointed that out to it and it backtracked. It just assumes shit all the time without checking. And this is on high+ thinking because I have the tokens for it. I’m not skimping.

But then there’s this problem I’ve had with my PC since March. I spent a year having voltage instability with my CPU memory controller that led to crashes all the time. Couldn’t let it go idle or it would crash. Couldn’t put it through bursty workloads or it would crash. Go to sleep, crash. Wake from sleep, crash. It became like that Parks and Rec Venezuela scene.

And in March it crashed when Windows happened do be doing an update, writing to disk. Which ended up getting a system file with all 0s written to it. Completely broke windows update and a ton of .NET packages. I battled it for months. Every time I tried windows repair reinstall of the OS it would fail and roll back. Didn’t know what caused it. Claude didn’t know either. So I had it write me a script that would corrupt the registry and cripple multiple windows services to prevent it from trying to make any updates until I could figure it out.

About a month ago Claude found it was the zeroed file. Claude worked on it and we tried repair install. Nothing. So Claude says “let’s go through this rigamarole process.” I said God lord Jesus heavens above to Betsy there has GOT to be another way.” I’m tired at this point. Five months. I’m tired boss. So I ask Kimi to audit Claude’s notes because it’s fixed Claude’s screw ups before and get the same agreement from it that Claude is right. I said “you know what? Fuck it. I’ve never used Codex. Let me give Codex a try.”

Fixed within an hour. Finally after five months. And it didn’t take everything Claude and Kimi said it was going to. ChatGPT found the repair package file was already on disk, found the other corrupted files Claude missed that were actually the initial cause of the problem, manually renamed and edited them, and then finally let the update package that messed everything up install and restart. Fixed. Less than an hour.

Guys, what is happening with Anthropic and Claude. People will claim “oh, it’s the models. They’re just coming out with a new one soon.” I’ve never seen it this bad before. How are you guys getting anything out of Fable? It’s just dropping the ball so much lately.

And this is with the hard stuff. I recently found out I could upload pics to ChatGPT of my room and of me and it would show me interior or decorating transformations based on pics of items I considered buying and style I’m going for AND multiple view photo grids of a haircut I’m considering doing on myself to gauge how it would look on me. I don’t know. At the same time it makes me really sad though because I miss Claude and the old experience.

Discussion It must be some kind of psy-op by OpenAI to claim that Sol is anywhere near as good as Fable

I have a ChatGPT Pro subscription and a Claude Max subscription, and use both extensively for work. To claim that any model offered by OpenAI is even close in capability or problem solving ability to Fable is a joke to me.

To me, the most comparable Claude model to 5.6 Sol, OpenAI's flagship, is Opus 5. They have roughly equivalent price (ignoring the temporary promotions on Sol pricing), and in my experience, their output quality is about the same as well; I end up having to put in about the same amount of effort correcting them or giving feedback to achieve a product of comparable quality.

The main difference is in the kind of feedback I have to give; with Sol, I typically end up having to add details to its results, such as instructing it to address missing edge cases, or take a more thorough approach when it took a simpler shortcut to solve my problem instead. With Opus, it usually finds most edge cases for me without having to say anything; but it also goes beyond and keeps finding more and more things, of decreasing and often spurious relevance to my actual problem. My effort usually comes in the form of telling it to ignore those extraneous edge cases and focus on the core of the problem.

But when compared to Fable, neither can hold a candle. Among every task I've ever given any agent, Fable always takes the least amount of time, the fewest tokens, and needs by far the least number of warnings in the prompt or corrections to the output, compared to any other Anthropic or OpenAI model.

To me, to say GPT 5.6 Sol is anywhere close to Fable in any capacity, and not just a competitor to Opus with different tuning, is completely unfathomable to me. You pay twice the price for it and you get your money's worth. Sure it's expensive, and you can run through your weekly limits in hours, but you can't argue that it just works. I can't say the same about Opus or Sol.

Question Claude keeps opening with a partially Hindi interface, even after contacting support

Post image
3 Upvotes

For months, every time I open Claude, large parts of the interface show up in Hindi—navigation labels, the home screen, sidebar sections, and more. I never selected Hindi, and my browser and system language settings are normal.

I’ve already contacted Anthropic Support about it, but unfortunately that has not helped so far. It’s exhausting to repeatedly open the product and find the interface broken like this.

Has anyone else experienced this or found a fix? I’m attaching a screenshot for reference.

Discussion Sicks of posts complaining about people complaining about Op…

Upvotes

It’s every day man and I’m tired of it. We used to be a proper subreddit, now every other post it I see is ”So tired of people complaining about Opus 5 naysayers” (just like this post) and then you look at the post they’re complaining about and it’s literally just somebody saying they’re sick of seeing people say they’re tired of all the people complaining about the ‘I hate Opus 5’ posts which isn’t even accurate because if you browse the subreddit, you’ll see 90% posts where people are asking the mods to shut down the influx of posts of people saying they’re getting fed up with all the bitching about the posts calling out the repetitive ”I’m so done with people saying they’ve had enough of people criticizing all the posts where people are just complaining about all the anti-Opus-5 rhetoric” posts

like come on man. we used to be a real country. anyway I think I’ve made it perfectly clear where I fall on the Opus 5 debate.

Discussion The Misleading Math Behind Claude’s “20x” Plan

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

Very recently, @SataEricUX did some digging into Claude Max and found something pretty wild.
Anthropic sells the $100 plan as 5x Pro and the $200 plan as 20x Pro, which makes it sound like the $200 plan gives you 4x more usage.
But that 20x mainly refers to the 5-hour window. The weekly limit is nowhere near 4x — it’s much closer to 2x.
There’s now even a proposed class-action lawsuit over how these limits were marketed. Nothing has been proven in court yet, but the fact that users had to reverse-engineer this in the first place says a lot.
If you’re paying $200/month, the limits should just be stated clearly.
