Question Is it worth getting two Plus subscriptions?

Unfortunately, I don’t have $100 yet to invest in a Codex PRO plan, but I could get two PLUS accounts. Do you think it’s worth having two accounts in case one reaches its limit, either the five‑hour window or the weekly limit?

Its amazing. If you launch a single prompt on both account 2.5 hrs before using it, you have 4x 5hr windows that you can use in a single session.

I've been using two Plus accounts for quite a while, and honestly, this never even occurred to me. 😄 So simple, yet it works.

Do ya'll maybe want to tweet about it, too, in case Tibo is not on Reddit? Doesn't seem like there's been enough of shit taken from the regular users these days. Let's add having multiple accounts to the list. Allon-fucking-sy!

The real big brain moment is that tibo will remove the 5hr window because we abuse it lol

Yes.

Yes unless OpenAi pulls an anthropic and releases Astra only for the $100 or $200 tiers

I'm using 2 accounts, I work with Sol - Medium all the time, sometimes on high, I'm not a professional developer, I always maintain a single conversation and I don't ask it to multitask, with the 2 accounts, I manage to work well by switching from one to the other every time I reach the 5h limit, I've been doing 13 hours straight like this for 3 days.

Com certeza vale a pena, até mais contas, assim você vai controlando de acordo com a necessidade. Não tem os benefícios da Pro, mas tem o controle do quanto está disposto a pagar naquele mês. Eu trabalho assim e tem me atendido bem

Do you have a single account now and if so, what type of limits are you hitting?

If you are regularly running into your limits, then yes, it's worth it to get a second Plus account.

Do 2 plus make a pro?

2 it alright - 1 is useless

Sure, it will double what you can do.

If you'll feel the extra $20, you can also get a ton more work done pairing ChatGPT with a free option like Freebuff or Opencode's free plan, or Tokenrouter's free model fed through a harness of your choice. Have ChatGPT on the web write your plans and turn them into execution tickets, then dump them on free Deepseek or GLM or M3 to get them done, then ask Codex to check the work against the ticket stack at the end.

always have a dozen emails with some simcards for free accounts and max that out first and then buy a second sub from competitor or multi vendor like cursor or notion. gpt web is free with a veryhigh daily limit AND and daily limit of free images, currently like 50-100 ish then 24h timeout. used to be 500 a day for context. use that before its not anymore and also always check competitors for delegating task or specific workflows u do. u dont really need the big invest. learn the basics and routines and so on first with free accounts. for at least 10 months even if you think you are the man already, youre not.

edit; u can use github, gdrive and slack within gpt web so u can create a private repo on gh to let the web agent work in the github repo directly, just connect the plugin with login. then the agent develeops in his virtual box with like 8gb ram and nice dual core cpu. put documentation and assets on slack since the account source storage is faulty and the agent loses acces over time.

that way u wont need that scam bigger sub at all , hope that helps buddy :)

Ive got 6 accounts (made 2 new ones in Aug with the free month), I cycle through them.

I like it to catch the extra resets and space out work easier

Actually, two accounts would help if you have higher concurrency requirement for your tasks.

Input cache is only for 1 account afaik, thats the actual cost saver i assume for getting a 200usd plan

I don’t recommend. Sharing context is painful and that will be an overhead in your development workflow. There may be workarounds, but better to avoid those.

I have 2 pro accounts and sharing context isn't a problem. Using work/codex, the chats persist - you just switch subscriptions over when you run out of usage

u/Present_Award8001 12h ago

how do you switch within the same conversation?

3

u/Moist-Wonder-9912 12h ago

I use the desktop app - mostly Codex. Just logout/log back in and continue the conversation as normal. I literally take one account down to 0% then switch

I have to imagine there’s $60 worth of subscriptions and or expenses in your monthly budget you could eliminate

If you can’t afford Hawaii vacations I think you shouldn’t go anywhere at all.
